TEG 2 Chapter 13: Treachery, Jailbreaks and Death Scenes

Written By: Ebony
POV: Third Person
Deaths: Dexter (1)

Note: I was unable to find this chapter in the previous edition.

Dexter asks Thalia where Jason goes. The narration points out that after thirteen minutes away, "all his plans had gone to shite". Ebony reports that Jason has gone to spy on the enemy again and Kelvin has gone with him, much to Dexter's distress.

Kelvin runs in very quickly, having apparently done a 4 minute mile (and being appropriately exhausted), and reveals that Jason has been kidnapped. Dexter demands to know why Kelvin didn't stop this, and Kelvin reveals that doing so would have compromised his position and gotten him captured as well, thereby preventing him from warning the others. He then reveals that Jason will sell out the Prayer Warriors by giving the enemy the base's location, and while Kelvin apologizes, Dexter angrily says that Jason is responsible. However, Kelvin adds that the demon that summoned Jason knew where the base was all along- and he wanted Jason himself, alive for some unknown reason. The group plans to thwart the demons' plans, even if they must kill Jason, but Thalia is strongly opposed to resorting to killing Jason, unwilling to say why, but willing to forgive him.

After ten wasted minutes of sizing up the building, the Prayer Warriors sneak in. Dexter stays behind as backup, while Kelvin and Thalia reach Jason's cell. Jason's hesitant to come, but Thalia insists, saying that she and Jason are Like Brother and Sister (they are brother and sister in canon) and she forgives him. They pick the lock and break him out.

Elsewhere, a battle has ensued, and Dexter was caught up in it. Thalia, Jason and Kelvin find him close to death. With his last breaths, Dexter asks them to give his son a better life and tell him that he loves him. He then passes on and Thalia cries, although she has no time to mourn with the enemy nearby.

Dexter's son is sent with Draco to England, who wants to ensure that Hogwarts doesn't re-establish itself. Meanwhlie, Thalia and Jason rejoin Ebony.

The author informs us that Thomas will be back, and that she's run into a block on her My Little Pony fanfic. She proposes writing a fic for Digimon or Pokémon fanfic without religious themes.

All in all, this was probably the best chapter of the Prayer Warriors, albeit because virtually all of the other chapters made this look good by comparison. The characters seemed like actual people and there was some effort at providing emotional moments and actual plot twists here.

Next Installment: Piper's group, armed with "evidence" and with the author on their side, disproves evolution once and for all.
