** In Chapter 1099, it's revealed that Kuma's global knowledge comes from traveling the world as he [[spoiler: searched for a cure for Bonney's condition.]] While this does explain how he knew the locations he sent the Straw Hats to (even the TB! recruits), [[spoiler: one would probably wonder where the Never Day Isle of Nox Vestibule, where he sent Cross, fits into it. Well, Kuma was desperate to find a cure, and an island that have eternal night is a fine good place to be when your daughter can't expose herself to the light.]]

%%** Bonney threatening Sentomaru after de-aging him takes on a whole new meaning after Chapter 1100 as we learn that [[spoiler:the two of them had struck an IntergentionalFriendship during Kuma and Bonney's stay at Egghead.]] One can't help but wonder if Bonney forcing him to retreat [[spoiler:wasn't just for Kuma's sake, [[CruelToBeKind but for his as well]].]]

** [[TheStrategist Vice-Admiral "White Feather" Komei]] is one of the most intelligent members of the Marines, having discovered the existence of the New World Masons multiple times and having chosen to [[LaserGuidedAmnesia let Tsuru erase his memory each time]]. Having been assigned to guide Sabaody and the entrance to the New World, Komei establishes a highly effective blockade, forcing the Thirteen Supernovas and dozens of other pirate crews to work together to break the blockade. Using privateers as meat shields, Komei slows down the Supernovas in order to let the weaker pirates shatter against his vanguard, forcing the Supernovas to engage the main force of the blockade with limited backup. With his blockade force only being broken by the Straw Hats' previously-unknown secret weapon, Komei [[GracefulLoser simply acknowledges his failure as a learning experience and moves on from it.]]

* CatharsisFactor: For Cross's detractors, the HeroicBSOD at the end of chapter 82 was seen as as long-coming HumblePie for his attitude.

** Kuma sending Cross to the seventh hell, the Hell of Darkness takes a more heartwarming interpretation after the Chapter 1096 [[spoiler: when Kuma witness Ivankov leadership skills and Ginny wiretapper and radio operator skills to cause a big enough distraction to escape the massacre in God Valley.]] Do you have the necessary skills to inspire the prisoners to seek their freedom, Jeremiah Cross?

** In the Skypiea arc, Scratchmen Apoo reached out to Cross and became one of the first members of the Zodiac of the Damned. This makes canon events all the more brutal as [[spoiler:it's revealed that Kaido's appearance on the Kid Pirates' base (which is likely the last Cross saw of Kid, Hawkins, and Apoo before being pulled into the OP world) was actually because Apoo was a subordinate of his, and he never intended to honor his alliance with Kid and Hawkins]].
*** Even more, Cross mentions to Kid [[spoiler:in Skelter Bite]] that pirates with esoteric effects like Apoo have a better chance against Luffy than straight-forward fighters like Kid. [[spoiler: In chapter 980, we see Apoo keeping Luffy and Zoro on their toes ''without'' making hand contact until Kid sucker punches him in payback for betraying him.]]
** The non-canon 2019 Halloween Special omake has Merry having a living nightmare being stuck in a wrecked version of her ship form and within a DerelictGraveyard. [[spoiler: Chapter 71 shows her Paw-Paw-assisted flight has stranded her in a ''real'' one. And not just ANY old DerelictGraveyard, but the biggest, most famous one: Davy Jones' Locker!]]
** At the end of the Skypiea arc, Cross gave a DudeNotFunny to Soundbite when the latter heard that one of the Ancient Weapons was named [[UranusIsShowing Uranus]], followed by commenting to Robin that he assumed by the name that Uranus was sky-based and the strongest of the three. [[spoiler:In Chapter 1060, Im, the secret ruler of the World Government, destroys Lulusia Kingdom [[DeathFromAbove with a mysterious force from the sky]] that's hinted to have been Uranus]].
** Going with Oda's hints that there's a connection between [[spoiler:Bartholomew Kuma and Jewelry Bonney]], during Sabaody Revolution, after Kuma sends Luffy flying, [[spoiler:he and Bonney share a silent look before he vanishes, with him about to go through [[CyberneticsEatYourSoul the final stage of his robotization process]]]]. In Chapter 1062, the nature of their relationship is revealed in that [[spoiler:Kuma is actually Bonney's father]], which adds another solemn layer to the moment as it means [[spoiler:Kuma took one last look at his daughter just before he effectively died]].
** During the Enies Lobby arc, upon hearing [[spoiler:over the [=SBS=]]] what happened to [[spoiler:Saul during the Ohara incident, the Giant Marines that respected him]] flew into a rage, with [[spoiler:Kuzan being ordered to deal with them]], as a way of making the situation a cruel irony [[spoiler:for Kuzan]]. Unfortunately, this ends up becoming brutal when it's revealed [[spoiler:in Chapter 1066 that Kuzan '''didn't''' kill Saul and that he ''was still alive'']].
** During the Egghead Island arc of the manga, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Stussy, the member of [=CP0=] introduced during the Whole Cake Island arc]], is actually in allegiance to [[spoiler:Vegapunk out of loyalty for him creating her]]. Unfortunately, this means that her alliance with the Straw Hats will be a strained one in TB! as [[spoiler:during the Amazon Lily arc, she attempted to not only assassinate Hancock but also frame Luffy for it]].
** At the end of the Alabasta arc, after Cross inadvertently got a bounty put on Vivi, Cobra said that he didn't blame him, commenting that something much worse could've happened in the future. [[spoiler:In the canon manga, Cobra was assassinated during the Reverie, with Sabo being framed for it, while Vivi was forced to go on the run and take shelter with "Big News" Morgans. In other words, Cross's actions really were the lesser of two evils]].

* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: The Epilogue shows a newspaper article with the headline [[spoiler:"Voices of Anarchy" dead, seemingly showing a crucified Cross being burned at the pyre surrounded by unknown individuals. Absolutely none of the readers are fooled, especially when one of those watching Cross' supposed death has his arm raised, revealing an "X" tattooed on his forearm]].

* TheScrappy: The Unluckies, Mister 13 and Miss Friday. The two of them are effectively a GoldfishPoopGang aiming for Cross and Soundbite's heads after the Alabasta arc with little actual characterization, and [[TheThingThatWouldNotLeave they just keep coming back!]] And while the intent may be to make them into the HateSink, they just end up pissing said readers off because it gets repetitive and boring. And because of Cross's [[ThouShaltNotKill refusal to kill them]], their repeated returning is all but assured, leaving many readers frustrated beyond belief. That said, they [[PutOnABus haven't been seen since the early parts of Enies Lobby]], so this may yet change. A canon deleted scene during the Sabaody Revolution finally had them show up and clear the air with Cross and Soundbite, letting go of their grudge based on the fact that they had become respectable opponents instead of lucky, tricky weaklings with connections. Neither party quite apologies, but both acknowledge their mistakes, and 13 and Friday confirm that if they clash with Cross again, it'll only be business.

** In Chapter 1066, it's revealed that [spoiler:the Ohara incident]] was the catalyst that led to Dragon founding the Revolutionary Army. This puts new meaning on his interest in Cross as an ally, not just because of the windfall he had provided the Revolutionaries [spoiler:during the Enies Lobby incident]], but also because Cross had seen to it that [spoiler:Ohara received justice by airing the true story of its destruction to the world at the same time]].

** In Chapter 1066 [spoiler:it's revealed that Ohara incident was the catalyst that lead to Dragon founding the Revolutionary Army. * HeartwarmingInHindsight: [[spoiler:On Skelter Bite,]] Whitebeard's commander Izo has set up a Wano-themed hotel called "Oden's Cottage". Naturally, it makes sense since Oden once sailed on Whitebeard's ship, but it also becomes even more heartwarming when canon reveals that [[spoiler:Izo is from Wano and was once a loyal follower of Oden]].
