Unlike every other character under Moral Event Horizon, Cassandra is redeemed following the villainous acts in question she committed, and her redemption is portrayed as genuine. Therefore, regardless of how debated it is, it is safe to say that she doesn’t cross the MOH.

** It is hotly debated whether [[spoiler:Cassandra crossed it, and that she hadn't actually redeemed herself in the series finale. For those in favor to the argument that she really did cross it, they tend to agree that she did so either with her attempts to murder Rapunzel and Eugene in "Cassandra's Revenge", or her destroying the capital of Corona in "Once a Handmaiden...".]]

** A common complaint that's lodged at the third season is that [[spoiler:the arc involving Cassandra's FaceHeelTurn is simultaneously rushed and overly drawn out. The season premiere, "Rapunzel's Return", sets her up to be the main antagonist of the season after she's fallen to the dark side. Then it takes the next twelve episodes, until the season is already over halfway over, for her to start moving against Rapunzel and doing especially evil deeds. The following episodes each double down on how heinous and murderous Cassandra has become (to the point where quite a few people find her UnintentionallyUnsympathetic), lost in her own misplaced wrath and vengeance, while the show still insists through Rapunzel that she can be redeemed somehow. A few of them even tease the idea of Cassandra seeing reason and pulling a HeelFaceTurn, before they rather cruelly YankTheDogsChain and have her commit to her new evil path with even greater strength than she did before. Naturally, this led a lot of fans to worry about Cassandra's potential redemption arc being pushed off until the series finale, "Plus Est En Vous", and feeling very rushed and unearned as a result, whereas Varian had months to think about how terrible his actions were and repeatedly struggled with forgiving himself even after his redemption.]]

** [[spoiler:Cassandra is a curious example. As one of the most controversial and polarizing characters in the fandom with a villainous arc in the last season, she tends to get the DracoInLeatherPants treatment a lot (like Varian), but there are also some fans who swing to the opposite extreme with her character. Before writing her off as a bad egg from the start and a complete lost cause, there are two important factors in her downfall that must be taken into account that are sometimes ignored - the negative, destructive influence of the Moonstone on her mind, that causes her to become DrunkOnTheDarkSide the longer she has it, and Zhan Tiri's manipulation as a ToxicFriendInfluence, who's constantly encouraging her to turn on her friends and cross brand new ethical lines, even engineering a few set-ups like "A Tale Of Two Sisters" to strengthen Cassandra's loyalty to her. Neither of these two mitigating factors excuse or exonerate Cassandra's cruel, selfish, power-hungry actions (like attempted murder), but they do make her a more complicated and conflicted antagonist than simply being a pure, irredeemable monster. And while it's true that Cassandra was EasilyForgiven by her friends in the series finale, she didn't get off entirely scot free, since Cassandra owning up to her actions and helping Rapunzel defeat Zhan Tiri actually got her killed and would have permanently cost her her life if Rapunzel hadn't found a way to revive her.]]

** Cassandra may be a divisive character, but in Season 1 you would be hard-pressed to find many who care for her father, the Captain of the Guards, who seemed to be aiming for a record for how many episodes someone can juggle the JerkassBall and IdiotBall. Fortunately, he was Main/RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap in Season 3, as mentioned above.
** Uncle Monty. Many fans despise him for how irrational his dislike for Rapunzel was, all for reasons that Rapunzel has no power over given her traumatic childhood. It doesn't help that Rapunzel herself is frustrated with his IrrationalHatred as well in the episode (note: she finally decides at the end of the episode that getting him to like her wasn't worth it). Fortunately, in his reappearances his dislike for Rapunzel is drastically toned down.
** Nigel, the royal family's advisor, garnered a fair amount of ire due to him ordering for , to be ejected into an extremely harsh blizzard at a time of need, in addition to quickly coming to the clearly incorrect conclusion that he attacked Rapunzel. Besides that, he's seen as too annoying and uptight. ** In "Rapunzel's Return", Cassandra dramatically [[spoiler: reveals herself as Gothel's daughter and explains that she stole the Moonstone because that is why Rapunzel's destiny belongs to her. ** Following the flashback at the premiere of Season 3, some fans have wondered at the exact motivation behind Gothel's actions [[spoiler:in abandoning Cassandra. Others utterly despise her because she's a bitch towards Eugene, and makes Rapunzel promise not to tell anyone how her hair grew back, not caring how it could've hurt her and Eugene's relationship or what consequences it could bring for everyone in favor of her own problems. Many online critics felt that the Wangst over overshadowed many of Cassandra's stronger and more relatable motives (such as her frustration over her status as a handmaiden) and prevented these from being explored properly. In addition, the focus on Rapunzel means that Cassandra's thoughts and feelings are rarely examined in depth, leading to the common complaint that in "Plus Est En Vous" feels rushed and unearned. Creators Pet is The Scrappy; being a Base Breaking Character, she doesn't count.

* CreatorsPet: Cassandra is often accused of being one in the fandom by people who dislike her, partly because showrunner Chris Sonnenburg has always spoken fondly of her and what she brings to the series, and partly because she ticks the boxes of several negative tropes associated with original characters in fanfiction. She's a newcomer in an established cast of characters who's given more focus and development than some of the other franchise veterans. [[spoiler:She's given a tragic backstory late in the game that reveals she was the offspring of the franchise's main villain all along, giving her even greater narrative importance. She crosses over to the dark side herself for self-serving reasons; throughout the final season, her former friends try their best to save her at every turn despite her escalating abuse towards them; and she's ultimately forgiven pretty easily for all her wrongdoings by the series' end - despite the fact that she endangers the lives of Rapunzel and her friends several times, devastates Corona with the black rocks and unleashes Zhan Tiri]]. Fans of Varian also accuse the show of having a DoubleStandard due to the fact Rapunzel refused to give up on Cassandra, but allowed Varian to go to jail for similar offences at the end of season 1, despite the fact he had more sympathetic motives for his misdeeds.
** Cassandra is a BaseBreakingCharacter who has a lot of passionate, sympathetic fans of her own, so the argument about whether or not she was given special treatment from the writers can be a pretty sore topic in the fandom. It can also be argued that many issues with her villain arc (such as her weak motives and rushed redemption) stem from the fact that Cassadra's perspective is mostly left underdeveloped.

I'll be honest this reads like it's trying very hard to stretch the limits of interpretation. Cassandra's drive for power and belief would have taken her to steal the sundrop if Zhan Tiri hadn't stolen it first. But her desire was never to conquer the kingdom, just gain the power she thought she deserved. The rest about considering whether zhan tiri would kill her or Rapunzel would jail her reads more as headcanon rather than speculation.
