* ScrappyMechanic: Survival mode. Instead of respawning within 5 seconds, you stay dead until the players reach a checkpoint. This has a number of problems. First, enemies are far stronger and not all maps provide armor, meaning that you'll end up dying in seconds no matter what you do. Second, it's a huge middle finger for late joiners, who start off dead and can't play.

Moved from Half Life. Moved Why Fandom Cant Have Nice Things to the Trivia page.

** The Xen Commander/Tor. He can summon Alien Grunts that distract you as he shoots an energy that lifts you up and let fall damage do its job for him. Think you can just ZergRush him? Too bad, he can launch and shockwave you guys away.
** Basically any Strong enemies in the mod got a buff in 4.6, Gonomes, Alien Grunts, and Human Grunts can run and fire as well as melee you.

* WhyFandomCantHaveNiceThings: Cocyx, creator of the [=AoM=] port and host of David Leatherhoff himself, permanently shut down his servers after they were flooded with clueless newcomers endlessly demanding him to play as David, thanks to the LetsPlay/SpikeAndBarleyPlay playthrough.
** History repeated itself with Zorbos's server (only partially, thankfully), as the David element was again discontinued for the same reason, although the servers and content are here to stay.

* BrokenBase: The gameplay changes made to the original ''Half-Life'' arsenal in version 4.0. Some appreciated the increased realism the changes brought, such as changing the infamous [[GunsDoNotWorkThatWay double-barreled SPAS-12]] of the original game into the hybrid pump-action/semi-automatic shotgun it is in reality, and removing the grenade launcher from the [=MP5=] and putting it on a new weapon. Others felt the changes were unneeded and took away from the Half-Life feel of the mod. The Steam version fixed this by allowing players and mappers to use the original weapon behavior.
