* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: The entire planet Atreim. Mist describes it as a peaceful utopia, but also states that despite 2000 years of peace, it had a defense force even LARGER than Earth's. That means their defense force is bigger than OMNI Enforcer and Neo U.N. Army put together. This, coupled with the fact that Mist was a rookie member of the defense force, yet he mentioned that he was quite used to riot suppresion, begs the quesiton: Was Atreim really a utopia, or was it a 1984-esque police state?

** Following the release of VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ, installments began standardizing many gameplay mechanics, such as "evasion decay"As a unit is attacked, its evasion rate decreases every time it is targeted, raising the cost of Spirit Commands and balancing individual Will gains. The one gripe players have with K regarding standardization are terrain rankings on units. First, K goes with the idea that if a series is never set in space, it cannot have more than rank of "B" in space. This is fine until players realize that MazingerZ, who was never been in space, gets a rank of "A". This also extends to the Fafners, while the Dann of Thursday (who not only fought in space, but fought to a draw against the Saudade of Sunday, an Armor built for space combat) gets a "B". Secondly, despite the primary units from Anime/ShinkonGattaiGodannar fighting somewhat often in water, and the Fafners originating from an island, none of them have a better rank of "B" in water (the exceptions are the Cosmo Diver, a dedicated underwater/space unit, and one of the unlockable Fafner units).

** After the fiasco with MobileSuitGundamSeedDestiny, Cagalli Yula Athla returns to piloting in K. Banpresto decided to make her first mission one that's simply plain awesome on principle: taking on the Festum in an outdated, underpowered Strike Rouge becomes a lot more badass when you realize those things can alter gravity, create black holes at will, read your mind, and pretty much EVERY canon pilot who had a chance against them had been genetically modified. If there was any enemy for Cagalli to take a swing at to show she hadn't lost anything, this was the one.
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: "EDAX", the song played if the player is fighting against any Edax general and the BigBad.
** Let alone "Astral Burst", the music that plays during the original's Mid Season Upgrade's final attacks.
* GameBreaker: Interestingly, you get a LOT of them, such as the SEED Destiny Gundams, Dann of Thursday, both Jeegs, King Gainer, Gaiking, etc. Unfortunately, given the game's difficulty, this still means most levels are uphill battles.
** Parts-wise, the Orgone Cloud, which grants a level 3 barrier, double-image ability, ignore terrain penalties and a level 1 energy recovery. You can only get one by either inserting a VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsJudgment cartridge or through the shop on your 5th playthrough, and boy, is it worth the hassle of getting it.
** The Multicombo system in K is a GameBreaker in general. With the combo skill at level 3, it lets any unit attack up to six enemies at once while bypass enemy support defense entirely. They are essentially short range MAP attacks, except without all the usual drawbacks of a MAP weapon like low ammo or reduced experience gain or allies not getting any will gains from your kills, so you are free to spam them to your heart's content right from the first turn.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap (SEED Destiny: not only is Kira Yamato more reasonable (and doesn't attack your team on sight, but agrees to join them) and Cagalli's Chickification completely nullified, but the game goes out of its way to make Yuuna Roma Seinan a bit less of a coward and more caring towards Cagalli, to the point where [[spoiler:he acknowledges his faults and steps aside when Cagalli forcibly takes command of Orb. ** This and various other reasons have fans seeing the whole game as this compared to W and L.
* ScrappyMechanic: Many players consider the Partner Battle System to be useless, especially later on in the game when many standard mooks have access to the Combo Attack. Partnering two units also prevents either from using Combo Attacks, further discouraging its use.
** Those who do want to try the Partner Battle System will find it does have some uses, such as always having mecha in range of each other to combine or use Combination Attacks. It's a question of weighing up the benefits of these vs. being able to use a Combo Attack.
** Terrain rankings matter a lot in this game, so some of the more odd decisions draw a lot of flack from gameplayers. First, the game went with the idea that if a series never went to space, it cannot have more than a B ranking there. This is fine until you realize that MazingerZ, who was never in space, gets an A Ranking, as well as ALL THE FAFNERS, while Dann of Thursday (who not only fought in space, but fought to a draw with Saudade, a mech built for space) only gets a B ranking. Second, despite the main mechs of Godannar fighting somewhat often in water, and the Fafners BEING ON AN ISLAND, none of them have any better than a B underwater (With the exception of Cosmo Diver, a dedicated underwater/space unit, and one of the unlockable Fafner units) And multiple series also don't involve many flying mechs as well, causing problems when the later grunts all take to the skies. This would probably still be fine... if the game gave you enough parts, but they don't.

** The Multicombo system in K is a GameBreaker in general. With the combo "Combo Attack" pilot skill at level 3, it lets any unit allows a pilot to attack up both units in a partner unit; at higher levels, the pilot can target additional partner units. Thus, a pilot with a level 3 "Combo Attack" can target upwards to six enemies at once while bypass enemy support defense entirely. They are essentially short range MAP once. Since "Combo Attack" is only applicable to melee attacks, these are effectively short-ranged MAP Attacks, except without all the usual drawbacks of a MAP weapon like low ammo or such as limited ammunition, reduced experience gain or allies not getting ExperiencePoints/credits earned and possible friendly fire. Additionally, "Combo Attack" deals full damage without any will gains from your kills, so you penalties, meaning players are free to spam them to your heart's their hearts' content right from immediately on the first turn.
*** Unlike the "Chain Attack" pilot skill in previous [=SRWs=], enemies don't need to be adjacent to one another or in a row; "Combo Attack" is far more effective so long as enemies are in range of the weapon that is "Combo Attack" applicable. Finally, destroying many units with a "Combo Attack" allows much faster Will gains for the pilot with the skill.

*** Scenario 5 pits you against EVERY SINGLE NAMED BADDIE in the first half of OvermanKingGainer, INCLUDING Brunhilde, that in-series attacked friends and foes alike, yet here only attacks you. Fortunately, you only need to destroy Brunhilde...except it has 10000+ HP (at Scenario 5, no less), and you've got around 7-8 FragileSpeedster bosses attacking you at the same time. Fortunately, the secnario has easy Mooks to handle.
*** Scenario 6 kicks off the GunXSword plot, only Van is being attacked by a lot of Gaiking Darius Empire Mooks. You basically have to survive for two turns until the Gaiking Daiku Maryu shows up to aid him, which is easier said than done.
*** Scenario 7 is a mix of the two before: it begins with the Dann of Thursday, plus El Dora V (that unfortunately is an EN guzzler), Brownie and Mist being attacked by a bunch of Overman King Gainer grunts and bosses (again). You'll have to endure a few turns until the other heroes show up, only the enemies also get two tough bosses as reinforcements: Cynthia Lane and Ray. Like Brunhilde in scenario 5, neither of them were with the Siberian Railroad, but fighting for themselves; however, they only attack you and you alone.
*** Finally, scenario 8 is MORE Overman King Gainer bosses/mooks, PLUS Cynthia again, plus the Diablo of Monday. This scenario's slighty easier, but if you want the GunXSword Secret Characters, you must destroy the Diablo with Van or they're LostForever. Fortunately, after all this hell, the next scenario's an easy BreatherLevel with the Zoids Zoids Genesis plot, only with more Darius Empire grunts showing up chasing Zoidss Kotona Elegance so there's an excuse to get her without Garaga and Ron showing up as well.
** Any VideoGame/VirtualOn-based scenarios: the first two are long and boring, set in corridors against mooks with MAP Weapons, while the last one is on an open field with more grunts like that AND EliteMooks with huge HP supplies AND the Attack Combo skill that allows them to crush your support units.
*** Scratch that: let's just say that any long corridor-based scenario is long and dull (we're looking at you, final Fafner scenario).
** In one Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer scenario, you must prevent any enemy unit from reaching a certain point...IN SPACE. This sort of mission objective isn't a problem, except in a game where many series and their respective mecha don't go into space, they're stuck with a relatively low B-ranking for terrain rating (and terrain matters A LOT). To emphasize, a LightningBruiser such as King Gainer in K can easily get hit and often miss in space. Ouch.
* They Wasted A Perfectly Good Appearance: Despite the proper [=SRW=] appearance of Godannar (the series made its debut in Scramble Comannder 2), units like the Goddinner, Genesister and Volspinner do not make an appearance, let alone even be mentioned in K.
** Their pilots do make appearances in some cutscenes though, just not their machines.
** Koutetsu Jeeg's various frames. One of them had drill legs!
** Despite the changes to its storyline, SEED Destiny still got the short end of the stick in several areas. So what if the Minerva's ? Let the players use it instead of the Archangel, for a change.
** Also, Sky Buster Gaiking doesn't appear, despite the individual forms appearing as Combination Attacks.
*** Similarly, Triple Gaiking (the combination of Gaiking and its three support robots) also is unusable.
** K marks the first time the actual Virtual ON MARZ storyline debuts (since the cast treated their Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 appearance as a kind of "bonus level" from their world), yet you only get to control 4 of the 9 MARZ characters that are heroes and/or help the player on certain stages.

Second, despite the main mechs of Godannar fighting somewhat often in water, and the Fafners BEING ON AN ISLAND, none of them have any better than a B underwater. And multiple series also don't involve many flying mechs as well, causing problems when the later grunts all take to the skies. This would probably still be fine... if the game gave you enough parts, but they don't.

Fortunately, to beat the level you just need to kill Brunhilde... except it has 10000+ HP (At Stage 5 it's pretty good, mind), and you've got like 7-8 FragileSpeedster bosses attacking you at the same time as well. Partnering two units also prevents either from using Combo Attacks, further discouraging its use)
use.
** Those who do want to try the Partner Battle System will find it does have some uses, such as always having mechs mecha in range of each other to combine or use Combination Attacks.Combination Attacks. It's a question of weighing up the benefits of these vs. being able to use a Combo Attack)
Attack.
* ThatOneLevel (K has several of these:)
ThatOneLevel
** First, there's scenarios Scenarios 5 to 8, "Those Four Levels": Levels"
***
Scenario 5 pits you against EVERY SINGLE NAMED BAD GUY IN THE FIRST HALF OF OVERMAN KING GAINER, included BADDIE in the first half of OvermanKingGainer, INCLUDING Brunhilde, that in series in-series attacked friends and foes alike, yet here only attacks you. Fortunately, to beat the level you just only need to kill Brunhilde... destroy Brunhilde...except it has 10000+ HP (At Stage 5 it's pretty good, mind), (at Scenario 5, no less), and you've got like around 7-8 FragileSpeedster bosses attacking you at the same time as well. At least time. Fortunately, the secnario has easy Mooks are easy. Mission to handle.
*** Scenario
6 has kicks off the beginning of GunXSword, GunXSword plot, only Van is being attacked by a lot of Gaiking Darius Empire Mooks instead. Mooks. You basically have to survive for two turns until the Gaiking Daiku Maryu crew Maryu shows up to aid him, which is easier said than done. Mission done.
*** Scenario
7 is a mix of the two before: It starts it begins with the Dann of Thursday, plus El Dora V (that guzzles unfortunately is an EN like crazy), guzzler), Brownie and the OriginalGeneration main character Mist being attacked by a bunch of OvermanKingGainer mooks Overman King Gainer grunts and bosses (again). Again, you You'll have to endure a few turns until the other heroes shpw show up, only the enemies also get two tough bosses as reinforcements: OKG's Cynthia Lane Lane and GXS's Ray. And like Ray. Like Brunhilde above, in scenario 5, neither of them were with the Siberian Railroad, but on their own team, yet here, fighting for themselves; however, they only attack you again. and you alone.
***
Finally, Mission scenario 8 is MORE Gainer bosses/mooks, Overman King Gainer bosses/mooks, PLUS Cynthia again, plus GXS's the Diablo of Monday. Monday. This one is scenario's slighty easier, but if you want the GXS secret characters, GunXSword Secret Characters, kill you must destroy the Diablo with Van or they're LostForever. Fortunately, after all this hell, the next mission is a very scenario's an easy BreatherLevel playing with the beginning of Zoids Zoids Genesis, Genesis]] plot, only with more Gaiking Darius Empire mooks Empire grunts showing up chasing Zoids's [[MsFanservice Zoidss Kotona Elegance so there's an excuse to get her without Garaga and Ron showing up as well.
** And besides that, there's all Any VirtualOn-based scenarios: the VirtualOn missions (The first two are long, boring missions long and boring, set in corridors against mooks mooks with Map Attacks, MAP Weapons, while the last one is on an open field with more Mooks grunts like that AND EliteMooks with huge HP supplies AND the Attack Combo skill that allows them to crush your support units)) and the one playing Gundam SEED Stargazer (A "don't let the bad guys get to this point" mission... IN SPACE. On a game where everyone who doesn't goes into space in-series has a B as its Terrain Rating for... well, space, and terrains matter A LOT. See: King Gainer getting hit easily and missing often.) Ouch.
**
units.
***
Scratch that, that: let's just say that any long corridor level (I'm corridor-based scenario is long and dull (we're looking at you, final Fafner mission) is long scenario).
** In one Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer scenario, you must prevent any enemy unit from reaching a certain point...IN SPACE. This sort of mission objective isn't a problem, except in a game where many series
and dull.
their respective mecha don't go into space, they're stuck with a relatively low B-ranking for terrain rating (and terrain matters A LOT). To emphasize, a LightningBruiser such as King Gainer in K can easily get hit and often miss in space. Ouch.
* They Wasted A Perfectly Good Appearance (Despite Godannars "proper" Appearance]]: Despite the proper [=SRW=] debut, appearance of Godannar (the series made its debut in Scramble Comannder 2), units like the Goddinner, Genesister and Volspinner do not make an appearance, let alone even be mentioned in K)
K.
** Their pilots do make appearances in some cutscenes though; though, just not their machinesmachines.

** Despite the changes to its storyline, SEED Destiny still got the short end of the stick in several areas. So what if the Minerva's ? Let the players use it instead of the Archangel, for a change
** Also, Sky Buster Gaiking doesn't appear, despite the individual forms appearing as Combination Attacks
** K marks the first time the actual Virtual ON MARZ storyline debuts (since the cast treated their Alpha 3 appearance as a kind of "bonus level" from their world), yet you only get to control 4 of the 9 MARZ characters that are heroes and/or help the player on certain stages)
* ToughActToFollow: Between the various issues and the fact that K followed the fan-favorite W, this was inevitable.
