* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Weirdly enough, Shrek can be see this way, as well. Some fans found that he goes too far when, he being so tired of family life, he tells Fiona [[WhatTheHellHero he wishes he never saved her from that tower.]] While it was meant to be a shocking, MyGodWhatHaveIDone statement in-universe, some fans still found it to be a tad ''too'' mean-spirited, even for Shrek.

While to others its worse than ''Shrek The Third'', completely abandoning the actual characters and a waste of time.

* UnintentionallySympathetic: While Shrek smashing his own kids' birthday cake and storming out of the party isn't exactly a good thing, he was going through ''tons'' of stress at the time, with everyone ''demanding'' things of him, the pigs having ate the first cake, and nobody letting him have a moment of rest. With these factors in mind, Shrek losing his temper is a lot more justified.

* NightmareFuel: [[spoiler: Watching the king and queen dissolve into nonexistence is unsettling.]]

When we see [[spoiler: the king and queen's looks of indescribable horror as they realize they're being erased from existence]], Rumpelstiltskin crosses the line from just a simple trickster who wanted to rule the kingdom into utterly, irredeemably evil.

* FridgeLogic: Rumpelstiltskin pays the Pied Piper in advance. Which makes sense given that the mayor of Hammlin stiffed him and suffered the consequences.

** The scene [[spoiler: where he summons a council of witches where he first starts out as a loving patron, scolds them about letting Shrek escape and finally ''snaps'' into rage, killing one of them on screen by pouring water onto her. [[ImMelting We all know what]] [[Literature/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz water does to witches...]] ]] That just doesn't mark him evil, but a batshit insane AxeCrazy.
