* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Despite a FreakyFridayFlip between Twilight and Trixie being one of the key elements of the story, little is actually done with it;Twilight convinces her friends of her identity almost immediately, so there's not much conflict there and she hardly interacts with anypony outside of them and Trixie, so she never has to experience what typical day in the
life of Trixie is like or how ponies in general see her. Which could have been used to flesh out the showmare's motives for what she does and help both Twilight and the audience build sympathy for her. And Trixie, despite being a manipulative pony in her arch rival's body, only ever gets to interact with and manipulate Princess Luna (and the Canterlot Guard) and never gets the opportunity to try and manipulate any of Twilight's close friends and family.

* EasilyForgiven: One of the major complaints about the story. Trixie, for all her lies, manipulations, stupid choices, and hypocritical attitude, gets let off surprisingly easily after becoming [[spoiler: the Element of Forgiveness.]] To the point where it makes ''Starlight Glimmer's'' reformation look less forced by comparison.

* AwesomeMusic: Many of the songs arguably fall under this:

* SpecialEffectsFailure: In a quiet a few shots during Astelle's scenes, you can still see the outline of her eye, while it's covered by her mane.

* SheReallyCanAct: A few fans felt that Magpiepony's Pinkie Pie impression came off as forced. That said, most of those same fans were blown away by her Astelle voice in episode 8, with quite a few saying they didn't know it was her until they read the credits.

* MoralEventHorizon: Trixie crosses it completly after capturing Twilight and cruelly mocking her and boasts that Twi is going to be left their with her friends. *** Princess Cadence calling on the power of her guards and The Crystal Empire and becoming the first and only pony, to have put up a serious fight against the nigh invisible Shadow Alicorn.

** Trixie '''finally''' pulling a HeelFaceTurn and [[spoiler: creating The Element Of Forgiveness, before helping Twilight blast Astelle away.]]

It's not hard to feel sorry for her when she finally breaks down crying in front of her brother and sister-in0law, and very easy to root for her when she double-crosses Trixie and attacks her under the belief that she was controlling the Shadow Alicorn, all the while gloating that she plans to lock her away in the same cell she threw her in.
