13	* SugarWiki/SheReallyCanAct: A few fans felt that Magpiepony's Pinkie Pie impression came off as rather forced (which would later follow into Fanfic/PinkieTales as well). That said, most of those same fans were absolutely blown away by her Astelle voice in episode 8, with quite a number of them saying they didn't know it was her proving the voice until they read the credits.
14	* SpecialEffectsFailure: In a quite a few shots during Astelle's scenes, you can still see the outline of her eye, while it's covered by her mane.
15	* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Despite a FreakyFridayFlip between Twilight and Trixie being one of the key elements of the story, little is actually done with it; Twilight convinces her friends of her identity almost immediately, so there's not much conflict there and she hardly interacts with anypony outside of them and Trixie, so she never has to experience what typical day in the life of Trixie is like or how ponies in general see her. Which could have been used to flesh out the showmare's motives for what she does and help both Twilight and the audience build sympathy for her. And Trixie, despite being a manipulative pony in her arch rival's body, only ever gets to interact with and manipulate Princess Luna and the Canterlot Guard to an extent (which even then doesn't last long), and she also never gets the opportunity to try and manipulate any of Twilight's close friends and family.
16	* UnintentionallySympathetic: During the Crystal Empire portion of the story, Twilight is meant to be seen in the wrong for pretty much letting her anger get the best of her and becoming like Trixie (right down to the smug look) for planning to backstab her after manipulating her into revealing the "truth". However, in the first half of the story, Trixie basically lies and manipulates Twilight by throwing her hospitality back into her face, switches bodies with her, throws her into the Canterlot dungeons, and mocks her (Twilight in Trixie's body) with the fact they she will remain in the dungeons to rot for the rest of her life while she (Trixie in Twilight's body) will take her friends, family, and life away from her. If anything, Twilight is perfectly in the right to be mad at Trixie, even if she does go a bit too far.
17	* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: We are probably supposed to find Trixie more sympathetic, especially after she reveals how much her last run ins with Twilight and the gang pretty much ruined her career as well as feel happy she became [[spoiler:The Element of Forgiveness]], but after all the crap she did during the first half of the story, many people have trouble thinking she even deserves another chance, let alone actually thinking she deserves any sympathy or even [[spoiler:The Element of Forgiveness]].
18	* TheWoobie:
19	** Celestia becomes this, even more so than in canon, [[spoiler: after it is revealed that she had ''two'' sisters who have turned evil on her that she has had to banish.]] This also probably made having to banish Luna even more painful and with [[spoiler: the truth about Astel being their sister and that Luna was kept out of the loop about her being out now,]] their relationship is once again being strain.
20	** Luna too, after it is revealed that [[spoiler: Celestia has been keeping their third sister a secret from her.]]
