* HilariousInHindsight: On the one hand, you have Ben Barnes, whose portrayal of Prince Caspian drew upon Inigo Montoya; and on the other you have Eddie Izzard, who based his Flynning sword-fighting mouse Reepicheep on ErrolFlynn, who also famously inspired Cary Elwes' performance. So their first meeting is really a Film/ThePrincessBride reunion by way of Captain Ersatzes.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: It seems like the movie is building up to something interesting with Miraz's wife being shocked to learn of his evil actions, but then she's largely forgotten about.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: It seems like the movie is building up to something interesting with Miraz's wife being shocked to learn of his evil actions, but then she's largely forgotten about. It's likely done to put some shades of grey in the Telmarines (such as Glozelle's AdaptationalHeroism) and it does get a minor payoff when Prunaprismia is the first of them to volunteer to pass through into the new world.
* UnintentionallySympathetic: Peter and Caspian's fight is meant to show that both of them have messed up majorly. Except Caspian abandoned his post in the middle of a covert military operation just to get some revenge - which he didn't act upon. The castle raid failing was far more Caspian's fault than Peter's - who was more trying to salvage the mess that Caspian made.

* UnfortunateImplications: Subverted. The Telmarines are given a RaceLift to become AmbiguouslyBrown Mediterranean people - WordOfGod saying this is to reflect their pirate origins. However both General Glozelle and Queen Prunaprismia are given AdaptationalHeroism to avoid having all the villains be like this.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: The film adds the possibility that Susan's is due to the romance that could never happen with Caspian.

* BrokenBase: The Caspian and Susan romance. Some invoke TheyChangedItNowItSucks and StrangledByTheRedString. Others were happy Susan had something to actually do in the film (as she did very little in the book) and liked the foreshadowing to her eventual fate.

* EvenBetterSequel: WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic called the film this, praising the CharacterDevelopment, AdaptationExpansion and DarkerAndEdgier tone. He compared it to a proto Series/GameOfThrones.

* LoveToHate: Sergio Castellitto's take on King Miraz, making him a very effective and ruthless villain - with the occasional PetTheDog moment to humanise him. Likewise he also gets some good DeadpanSnarker moments.
* OneSceneWonder: Tilda Swinton returns as Jadis for one scene, as an expansion of a point in the book where they consider resurrecting her.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Those who don't hate the changes feel the film did this for the Prince Caspian story - which had been viewed as the ParvumOpus of the series.

* StrangledByTheRedString: In the film (not the book), Caspian and Susan become a couple. For five minutes at the end of the movie because he rescued her once from some soldiers. Suddenly at the end the two are snogging in front of a crowd, only for their relationship to end five seconds later after Susan and her siblings return through the portal to England, meaning she and Caspian will never see each other again. Thus, there was no reason to include their romance in the first place because it was doomed to end anyway..

to:

* SophomoreSlump: Sort of. This was the second book published - though the fourth chronologically - and it's commonly regarded as the weakest. The film is a mixed bag. Some felt it was a step down, others loved it.
* StrangledByTheRedString: In the film (not the book), Caspian and The romance between Susan become a couple. For five minutes at the end of the movie because he rescued her once from some soldiers. Suddenly at the end the two are snogging in front of a crowd, only for their relationship to end five seconds later after Susan and her siblings return through the portal to England, meaning she and Caspian will is accused of this. There was none in the book and it was DoomedByCanon anyway. The whole thing is very chaste and never see each other again. Thus, there was no reason to include their progresses beyond simple flirtation - culminating in a small kiss at the end. WordOfGod is that the romance was more detailed in the first place original script, but cut down to a more chaste thing because they wanted to avoid it was doomed taking over the movie.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: This film provoked this more than the first. Due
to end anyway..the book's iffy pacingThe Pevensies arrive in Narnia, meet Trumpkin and then he tells them everything that had happened up until then (including Miraz storming Aslan's How), a lot of things had to be changed. Things that were especially disliked were the castle raid and the romance between Susan and Caspian.

* WhatAnIdiot: The assault on the castle in Prince Caspian (which did not happen in the book) gave huge helpings of this to Peter. To be fair, everyone from Caspian to Lucy calls him out on it. Caspian also deserves a share of this one because it was his fault in the first place that they lost the element of surprise; he went into the castle with his own agenda and despite the obvious results of him changing the plan in the middle of a StealthBasedMission he shows no responsibility or remorse for his actions. To maintain order among the Narnian army, Peter has no choice but to let it go and share the blame.
