* BadassDecay: Dutch, a tough-as-nails career soldier built like a brick shithouse, was outmatched in a straight fight and had to outwit the Predator to beat it, but the one in this film is soundly defeated in combat by --badass though he is-- a paunchy detective who's pushing fifty. Arguably justified, though, in that Dutch had to go hand-to-hand while Harrigan gets hold of the Predator's razor-sharp disc to use against it, and Dutch's opponent was a battle-hardened veteran while Harrigan's was a novice.

* CriticalResearchFailure: The Jamaican gangsters are all worshippers and practitioners of Voodoo. But it is ''Haiti'', not Jamaica, that is associated with Voodoo. Jamaicans are instead associated with Rastafarianism.

* FridgeHorror: The Jamaicans ambushed the Columbian drug lord while he was having sex with his girlfriend - the drug lord and his girlfriend were both completely naked. When the Jamaicans had the Columbian drug lord tied up and were ready to cut out his heart his girlfriend ''was still naked '''and''' crying''. Whose to say the Jamaicans didn't rape her before they got down to business? ([[spoiler:And if they did in fact rape the poor woman for no better reason than she was sleeping with their enemy that just makes their deaths by way of the Predator even more well deserved]]).

Whose to say the Jamaicans didn't rape her before they got down to business? * RootingForTheEmpire: Not so much when the Predator's fighting Harrigan and the police, but definitely when the Predator's targeting gangmembers.

** The self-destruct device that the Predator carries is, more or less, a portable nuke. The first film takes place in the jungle, but the second takes place in Los Angeles. What if Harrigan had been a little slow on the draw in retrieving that razor disc?

* Irony: Leona explains that Jerry Lambert is a lone wolf with a reputation for recklessness that gets his partners killed. [[spoiler: His actions gets himself killed and Leona survives. Possibly.]]

** "Fucking Voodoo Magic mon!"

* VindicatedByHistory: Trashed by critics at release, while it still has its good share of haters, more people are warming up to this movie after the divisive ''Film/AlienVsPredator'' films, some even going as far to admit it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

** [[PluckyComicRelief Jerry Lambert]] is by far the most popular character of the movie, primarily for being genuinely funny and one of the only truly likeable characters. It doesn't hurt that the character he [[Expy ripped off]] (Hudson from Aliens) was an EnsembleDarkhorse there as well

* OneSceneWonder: King Willie is easily the most memorable thing about the movie. The same goes with the Predator tribe at the end.

* HamAndCheese: Most of the cast seems to be having fun with their roles with little regard as to what they're doing. This particularly evident with Gary Busey and the Jamaicans.
