How it happens raises a few eyebrows [[spoiler:("[[AwesomenessIsVolatile too many legendaries together]]" seems like a bizarre cause, as multiple Legendaries have appeared together at once before with no warping of time and space anywhere, and it's not specified as a direct result of having the Creation trio involved)]], and its only real purpose is to force a climax onto the movie and make it run for longer than it needs to. That said, the specific line is that "too many were summoned" which may related more to Hoopa's portals damaging space due to too many being used in a short span of time (Hoopa had never summoned so many before). What makes this more of absurd is the fact the literall [[spoiler: [[PhysicalGod physical gods of time and space]]]] couldn't fix this problem that clearly is in the bounds of their power.

* BrokenBase:
** Ash's shirtless scene. Either you enjoy the {{fanservice}} or you hate it for stealing time from developing the plot and characters.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Despite having multiple Legendary Pokémon fighting each other, the actual "Clash of Ages" winds up lacking dramatic tension due to every human character except the core cast [[CouldHaveBeenMessy up and vanishing from the scene]], thereby eliminating any actual threat and consequences the battle may have beyond property damage, on top of the characterless OlympusMons lacking any real motive to fight each other (besides "LetsYouAndHimFight"), and as such the audience has no real reason to root for anyone beyond their favorites to win.

*** Latios' entire presence in this movie doesn't make much sense considering [[HeroicSacrifice what he did]] at the end of ''Anime/PokemonHeroes''. Most have accepted the explanation that there is more than one Latios and the one in this film is a different to the one Ash encountered earlier.

** "Were you surprised?" No, Hoopa. Not really. Not when you keep saying it over and over and over again.

(The BigBad caused a distortion in space which Palkia couldn't fix in PokemonMysteryDungeonExplorers for example.) Whether or not this carries over to the anime canon remains to be seen.

*** To be fair however it's implied here and there in the franchise that Dialga and Palkia aren't able to fix every hole in the space-time continuum, most often the kinds made outside of their supervision.
