* FunnyAneurysmMoment: In his review of ''VideoGame/TomodachiLife'', he makes multiple jokes about [=ProJared=] being overly lewd, with one of the most notable ones being him trying to steal Unicornism away from PBG. Funny at the time, but now it seems more like unintentional foreshadowing. And then there's PBG talking about his daughter [=ChickenNug=].

** During his review of {{VideoGame/Kinectimals}} , PBG accepted his pet Azura as his new best friend while trading off Projared in the process, declaring he is not his best friend anymore. This joke is more hard to swallow now due to Projared's cheating scandal along with PBG no longer being friends with him for real.

* MemeticMutation: "I apologize for that!"[[labelnote:Explanation]] A line from his [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaCDIGames Link: The Faces of Evil]], in reaction to the WebAnimation/YouTubePoop he made for the video. ** Ironically, [[spoiler:the person who died first in seasons 2 & 3 (Dean) takes Barry's role as the final survivor.]]
** This trend seems to continue in ''Minecraft HC #5'', as [[spoiler: Barry is once again the first one to die. Granted, his death had much more flair this time around, as you get to watch him go down swinging.]]
* BaseBreaker: As mentioned below, Dean is this. Half of the comments on any Hardcore episode will likely mourn his eventual passing, while the other half will be glad when he's gone.
** Lampshaded in the description for ''Minecraft HC #5'':
--> Dean Elezab: A raucous adventurer with a knack for pushing his luck- and he knows it. Another word for Dean would be: polarizing; you either love him or hate him. Love him for his ridiculous (and dangerous) antics or hate him for endangering the team.
* BrokenBase: Very mildly. Fans tend to disagree on which Hardcore series was the best.
** According to fans, Dean is either annoying and slows the group members down more than he actually helps them, or brings a new style of humor to each Hardcore and makes them even more entertaining to watch. It tends to depend on how much one likes the frequent shouting of random non sequiturs.
** The new dubstep intro for ''Terraria HC #2'' is either a nice, catchy change of pace, or an annoying and unnecessary change to the iconic Hardcore intro theme.
** When the group of 7 split up during ''Minecraft HC #5'', silhouettes were used for the group members whose perspectives were not being observed. While this worked in [=MineZ=] (since they were so far apart that, even if one team could hear the other in trouble, they couldn't do anything to assist them), and many aren't bothered by its return, some fans complained that this fixed perspective is redundant and primarily exists as a cheap way to create false tension and suspense, especially considering [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks none of the other Minecraft seasons did this.]] The immersion is somewhat broken anyways in that during the first perspective split, at one point, Ray goes into the house and meets the second team, and because the calls were separated, he couldn't update them on their situation vocally.
*** It also certainly didn't help that this forced perspective [[spoiler:ended up being one of the major causes behind Dean's death. The second group starts mining into the Netherrack, [[HistoryRepeats a tactic that]] [[UnderStatement hasn't necessarily gone over well with them]] in the past. Since the groups were separated, PBG and [=McJones=] weren't able to warn them that it was a terrible idea. Even worse, they were still in relatively close proximity to each other, even in comparison to earlier episodes like the one where PBG was stranded by himself in the woods at night when they ''didn't'' use this method, and they saw Dean's death message pop up anyways, so it's not like they could have replicated a HeDidntMakeIt scenario.]]

* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Kyrak Jellyman has been a hit with fans despite his relative obscurity and only appearing in a handful of PBG's episodes. His mellow personality makes for a nice contrast with PBG's more boisterous and jovial nature, and their effortless chemistry makes it a shame the two of them haven't done more videos together.
** [=McJones=], PBG's brother, is pretty popular too, similarly liked for being a calm voice of reason amongst the group. Although he's a staple of the Hardcore series, his presence outside of that is sadly minimal. It's telling that [[https://www.youtube.com/user/McJ0nes his [=YouTube=] channel]] has over 2500 subscribers despite having never uploaded a single video.
** ProtonJon, despite only appearing in ''Terraria HC #2'', quickly managed to become one of Hardcore's most popular guest stars. He especially had a chance to shine in the second half of the season once [[spoiler:the party was reduced to just him, Jeff, and [=McJones=], where the three of them formed a fantastic dynamic with each other, and [=ProtonJon=] also went on to last an impressively long time.]] When it was announced that the upcoming ''Terraria HC #3'' will feature a returning guest star, many are hoping it'll be [=ProtonJon=].
* FridgeBrilliance: [[spoiler:[=ProtonJon=]'s]] funeral in ''Terraria HC #2'' is already pretty [[TheFunInFuneral hilarious]], but keep in mind that if it had happened just a few episodes later, [[spoiler:Jeff and [=McJones=]]] would have been dressed up, respectively, as ''the Grim Reaper and a ghost''.
* HarsherInHindsight: In Episode 4 of ''Minecraft HC 2'', [[spoiler:there's a joke about "Forever Alone Barry" that takes on a whole new light when he ends up being the last survivor in the finale.]] It even applies to the last episode of Minecraft #1. [[spoiler:Barry won his and Jon's duel at the end, meaning he was the sole survivor of that season too.]]
** This gets absurd in [[spoiler:[=MineZ=], where he is ''again'' the last survivor of each.]]
** [=McJones=] shouting "YOU TRAPPED ME IN" in the intro for ''Minecraft HC #3'' gets a lot darker when you realize [[spoiler:it's what he says before Shane inadvertently traps him in a room filling with lava, leading to his death. Downplayed slightly in that [=McJones=] would probably have still died even if Shane hadn't trapped him.]]
** The description for the first season of ''Terraria HC'' reads, ''"The guys venture forth in the strange land of Terraria. Will they conquer all the bosses? Or will they all fall one by one to the dangers of zombies, blobs, and the ever treacherous falling damage? ...Only time will tell"''. [[spoiler:Fall damage doesn't end up being a problem in that season]], but in the second season of Terraria, [[spoiler:''three people'' die from falling too far and a fourth (Dean) ''almost'' dies from it. Twice!]]

** In ''[=MineZ=] HC'', [=McJones=] and PBG talk about the awful luck that occurred with [[spoiler: Dean, as he was poisoned twice. Unbeknownst to them, Dean was actually poisoned a ''THIRD'' time.]]
** One of the strangest meta examples the Hardcore seasons have seen yet: [[spoiler: between ''Minecraft Hardcore Season 4'' and ''Season 5,'' PBG filled the interim with a new show guest starring [=SpaceHamster=] called PB & Jeff. Coincidentally, they end up becoming the final two survivors in ''Season 5''. Jeff even alludes to this.]]

* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: [[spoiler:Against all odds, the disease-ridden [=McJones=] and PBG successfully escape from the cave]] in Episode 13 of ''[=MineZ=] HC''.
** In ''Terraria HC #2'', [[spoiler:despite dying at the end, [=McJones=]'s effort against the Wall of Flesh is incredible, bringing it to ''only 350 HP'' when he had a relatively short bridge.]]
* TheScrappy: Aside from the aforementioned Dean, Jon also came under a lot of fire during ''Terraria HC #1'', with many viewing his nonchalant and cynical sense of humor as genuinely disrespectful and a sign that he didn't really want to be there. It was especially jarring in comparison to ''Minecraft HC #1'', where he was much more cooperate and actually took the whole thing seriously.
