* CultClassic: Often considered one of Namco's most overlooked franchises, mostly because a chunk of games never left Japan while others lacked recognition. However it's mere ambition despite it's obscurity, endearing characters, expanse of the VideoGame/DigDug universe and addictive gameplay managed to help atract a small and loyal fanbase that wishes for the series return. And to help Drill Land had a rerelease on modern consoles not only bringing the game out of it's Japan and UsefulNotes/NintendoGamecube exclusive status, but also proving that Mr.Driller has not been forgotten.

Per TRS, this is YMMV

Added DiffLines:

* SequelDifficultySpike: Flashing "crystal" blocks were introduced in Mr. Driller 2, which spontaneously disappear after a few seconds, sometimes triggering chain reactions. Later games also introduced round "white" blocks, which don't combine with any other blocks and simply fall straight down.

Tastes Like Diabetes is no longer a trope. Moving examples to other tropes when applicable.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: Everything in the freaking game.

* MostAnnoyingSound
** The aforementioned CriticalAnnoyance whenever the OxygenMeter drops below 30 percent.
** The "Lucky!" sound whenever you pick up an Air capsule.
** The sound of the player getting squashed ... or dying from lack of air.
** The "whoa!" sound, occurring when the player is shoved aside (instead of being squashed) by a falling block. It tends to occur in the middle of large chain reactions, and because it leaves them momentarily incapacitated, chances are high that another falling black will imminently squish the player.

* ThatOneAchivement: The one in the second game where you have to drill 25 X-blocks. What adds to the difficulty is they take five drills to destroy and they drain 20% of your air.

* TearJerker: Dont be fooled by Susumu's adorable smile. Just stop and think about it, he has been abandoned by his whole family.
