• Awesome Music: Heading Back to Town from Mr Driller: Drill Land.
• Cult Classic: Often considered one of Namco's most overlooked franchises, mostly because a chunk of games never left Japan while others lacked recognition. However it's mere ambition despite it's obscurity, endearing characters, expanse of the Dig Dug universe and addictive gameplay managed to help atract a small and loyal fanbase that wishes for the series return. And to help Drill Land had a rerelease on modern consoles not only bringing the game out of it's Japan and Nintendo Gamecube exclusive status, but also proving that Mr.Driller has not been forgotten.
• Sequel Difficulty Spike: Flashing "crystal" blocks were introduced in Mr. Driller 2, which spontaneously disappear after a few seconds, sometimes triggering chain reactions. Later games also introduced round "white" blocks, which don't combine with any other blocks and simply fall straight down.
• Tear Jerker: Don't be fooled by Susumu's adorable smile. Just stop and think about it, he has been abandoned by his whole family.
• That One Achievement: The one in the second game where you have to drill 25 X-blocks. What adds to the difficulty is they take five drills to destroy and they drain 20% of your air.
• Toy Ship: Susumu and Anna. Although it IS confirmed that Anna has a crush on Susumu.
