These fans tend to argue that much of what made the first season so great, such as three well-defined factions with their own internal politics and [[AntiVillain Anti Villains]], and a protagonist group of [[WellIntentionedExtremist Well Intentioned Extremists]] against them, was largely discarded in the second season with one united Earth government [[spoiler:controlled by Ribbons and his personal group of followers]] that simply seems like a carbon copy of the Earth Federation from Universal Century, and [[DarknessInducedAudienceApathy few sympathetic characters outside of the few left over from the first season.]]

* RootingForTheEmpire: In the first seasons its a little hard to root for Celestial Being with their blithe superiority and judgemental attitude, especially given the awesome of people like Graham and Sergei ''almost'' beating the invincible Gundams. The second season makes you think this intentional as its all about Celestial Being fixing what they screwed up.

** The aforementioned [[WarForFunAndProfit Ali Al-Saachez]] is a sociopathic BloodKnight who [[PsychoForHire will do anything if the pay is right]], and flat out states that he's "[[CardCarryingVillain the very worst kind of person]]". Ali raised an army of ChildSoldiers while in Krugis, convincing them that every act of terrorism they committed--including murdering their own parents--was being done in the name of God--a God that Ali does not believe in. During the course of the series, he proceeds to kill off a sizeable number of characters, including Lockon I, supposed allies Michael and Johan Trinity, and Kinue Crossroad; singlehandedly burns down a country; and aids a conspiracy in a successful bid to conquer the world. Ali even goes out a bastard, dying while trying to kill a man who had just spared his life.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: In episode 2, Celestial Being intervenes in the Sri Lankan Civil War, which is described as having lasted for hundreds of years. In real life, the conflict ended in 2009, two years after the episode aired.

* MemeticBadass: ''[[Disney/{{Aladdin}} Prince Ali, mighty is he!]]''

** In the first season, the Irish Republican Army and the Tamil Tigers are mentioned as still fighting, three hundred years later. Barely two years after the episode aired, the IRA ordered an end to its armed campaign and the Tamil Tigers were defeated. But it does say that the fighting has been on and off for years. So maybe justified.

** Wang Liu Mei real motive and characterization is highly debatable too. 1.) Is she a pure ChaoticGood character who care about the future? 2.)Is she a ChaoticNeutral whocare nothing but [[ItsAllAboutMe about herself]] [[IJustWantToBeSpecial to be special]] in the world ? 3.) A delusional TheSociopath ManipulativeBitch who is as worse as Ali al-Saachez?

* TheScrappy: Even with Louise Halevy's heartbreaking tragedy, she lost some sympathisers by giving into HeWhoFightsMonsters and joining the villainous A-LAWS. In other cases, some fans don't like her either because she killed Nena, tried to kill Saji, or became a love interest to Andrei for a time. Of course, given the events during the two's only encounter in Season 2, a few fans wound up hating both Nena and Louise in the end.

** Despite a series of unfortunate events hitting them, [[TookALevelInJerkass Louise]] and [[CuteAndPsycho Nena]] ended up being this due to their questionable portrayals throughout the series, ''especially'' during season 2.
*** The novel adaptation try to justified Nena's morality due to being raised as nothing but living instrument who only taught about fighting and has no taught about basic humans morality. While she get some TraumaCongaLine and redeemed moment like providing Celestial Being about Allelujah whereabouts, helping Katharon to send them a supplies, and kill Wang Liu Mei for her action, it never get help to make her sympathetic character.
*** [[spoiler:Louise supposedly a Tragic AntiVillain due to Innovator manipulation and her tragedy that caused by Nena four years ago. Even thought Saji always try hard to make her abandon her quest to revenge, instead of hearing him, she keep following Andrei and Ribbons statement, and make her condition become worsening.]]

* DracoInLeatherPants: Hallelujah Haptism, Ali al-Saachez, the Trinities, Alejandro, and even Ribbons.

** Ali al-Saachez could have been a better main antagonist of the entire series, given that he remorselessly killed dozens of characters such as Neil Dylandy, Michael and Johan Trinity, and Kinue Crossroad. Rather than ultimately serving as the Innovator's willing pawn, he could have turned against Ribbons and the rest of the Innovators to continue his rampage against Celestial Being (and to an extent, the Earth Sphere Federation, the Union, Human Reform League, and A-LAWS) to finish what he started.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Even for those that despise her, there had to have been a point for Nena Trinity to survive Season 1. During the few moments she was seen in Season 2, it appeared that she was developing a conscience and becoming less insane, albeit through a process of ego and seeing even worse individuals, and even did some good for a change by [[spoiler:helping Celestial Being destroy Memento Mori and killing Wang Liu Mei]]. Unfortunately, the Nena/Louise dynamic was never fully explored beyond all the ways Louise wanted Nena to suffer, and ultimately, instead of a grand confrontation where either Nena realizes the horror that others have been put through or Louise realizing [[IfYouKillHimYouWillBeJustLikeHim the folly of wanton revenge before it was too late]], we saw [[spoiler:Louise take out Nena with ease]], which makes you wonder what was the point of even developing Nena's character in the first place.

** Andrei Smirnov absolutely unlikable character in season 2 since his debut. His character got worsening after he killing [[spoiler:his own father]] and [[spoiler:provoke Louise to follow his footstep by killing Saji]] obly to proved that he indeed care and love her so much. His HeelRealization and his HeroicSacrifice are not helping to redeem his character because he didn't even feel remorse to killing his father's friend and attempt to try to steal the other person girlfriend by provoke her to follow his footstep.

He achieves his end goal by simply having BiggerStick despite not even liking humanity to begin with, but the rationale only brought on later in ''Anime/Gundam00AWakeningOfTheTrailblazer'' meant he had to act now or there won't be anything left.

** Andrei Smirnov absolutely unlikable character in season 2 since his debut. His character got worsening after he killing [[spoiler:his own father]]and [[spoiler:provoke Louise to follow his footstep by killing Saji]] obly to proved that he indeed care and love her so much. All of this merely because he wants to prove that he is "caring", wants to "protect" her and win her heart. In fact, [[spoiler:Louise]] only treats him as a comrade, never seeing him as more than a friend, and sometimes being absolutely annoyed with his attitude.

** Andrei Smirnov is supposed to be a misguided character but still be a caring man who is concerned about [[spoiler:Louise]] health and understand her before her reunite with Saji. However, everything that Andrei did to [[spoiler:Louise]] never made her become positive. While he did pull his HeelRealization and realized his own sin, let's not forget this man literally kill his own father and a man who helped him to enter military out of furious mistaken them as the traitor, and provoke a mental-unstable girl to follow his sadistic footstep.
