** Most of the Marvel cast generally keeps up a steady stream of Spider-man-esque wise-cracks and jokes throughout the game, even for stoic characters like Blade, constantly mocking the situation and their enemies and never taking a serious situation seriously for even a second. The Hunter has the option to [[LampshadeHanging complain about it to Captain Marvel in their first major conversation]], but it just causes a heavy loss of approval.

Generally, the game is seen as Marvel's take on VideoGame/FreedomForce.VideoGame/FreedomForce.
** Unlike the developer's own XCOM, the game plays more like a ''Creator/CompileHeart'' turn-based RPG due to free-range movement during the combat section, heavier emphasis on story, and exploration during non-combat sections.

Broken Base has a six-month waiting time. The game came out in December.

* BrokenBase: The game's heavy prominence of dialogue and building up RelationshipValues is one of the biggest sources of criticism on it. Detractors think it's boring and just slows down you getting to the next cool battle. Admirers think it's well-written and gives the gameplay more variety than just combat.

** Iron Man spends much of the game being condescending towards the Midnight Suns and treating them like inexperienced children. This is ignoring the fact that Blade, like Wolverine, is OlderThanTheyLook due to slowed aging and does not deserve to be treated that way regardless of Tony's feelings towards the others, and also the Suns specialize in supernatural threats, making them much more knowledgeable about the nature of Lilith than Tony or most of the other Avengers, who are ''guests'' in the Abbey. Nico is far more outspoken than the others in not liking this and the game treats her and Tony as making equally-valid arguments, but it's hard ''not'' to take her side. And while you do get the opportunity to put Tony in his place, this is polarizing among the heroes.[[labelnote:*]]It should be noted Hunter's role among the Midnight Suns is both as a leader and a peacekeeper between them and the Avengers, so blatantly taking one side over the other is ''meant'' to be polarizing due to breaching that expected neutrality.[[/labelnote]]
** On the other side of the spectrum is Nico. While the other Midnight Suns have their problems with the Avengers barging into their sanctum and seeming to take over the whole operation, Nico is the most vocal about hating them and wanting them gone, even complaining about things like the Avengers setting up the Forge to help create new gear. She also doesn't respond well to being told straight to her face that against a threat as big as Lilith the Suns need all the help they can get and treats the team's situation more like a hipster being angry at a band for selling out than the desperate "end of the world" scenario it is. She even becomes colder and snappier towards people who are supposed to be her friends when they show any sort of positivity towards the Avengers. As well, the entire questline involving Magik's birthday show she has a similar tendency to Tony to assume she knows best even when other people are telling her otherwise, not helped by the fact that when Nico takes charge and is trusted to do her plan it ends up being almost exactly the same as Tony's. [[spoiler: Using brute force to bury Lilith and Hulk]] doesn't work and also doesn't show any kind of supernatural knowledge that she claims the Midnight Suns have over the Avengers.

** After Nico's failed attempt at a birthday party for Magik, Carol [[NotSoAboveItAll wishes she could smash a birthday cake]]. Cap asks why she doesn't do so, she mentions that it's a waste of cake and smashing your own cake just doesn't have the same appeal.
** Tony and Strange play ''TabletopGame/{{Monopoly}}'':

'''Strange:''' Well, if parking is free, clearly no one from Manhattan.
** Steve admits there are people better than himself.
-->'''Strange:''' An auspicious night, Mr. Rogers.
-->'''Steve:''' I told you not to call me that. I can't possibly live up to [[Creator/FredRogers the name.]]
** After Fallen Venom (who's technically under MindControl by the way), flings a car at Spider-Man, Spidey says that "Someone's extra touchy today!" which cues this from Venom as he climbs up to attack his long-time nemesis:
---> '''Venom:''' [[EvilIsHammy WE WILL RIP YOUR FACE OFF AND SUCK THE MARROW FROM YOUR BOOOOOOOONNNNEEEEEESSSS!]]
** When the Dread Maiden first debuts on a mission, Iron Man's immediate response is to repeatedly mock the demon for how enormous its forehead is.
** When you first invite Deadpool back to the abbey, Caretaker, Blade and Captain Marvel can be heard repeatedly shouting NO over the comms with increasing despair as the Hunter ignores them. This repeats when you invite him to stay permanently at the end of his mission line. Deadpool then promptly skips into the portal, happily saying:
-->'''Deadpool:''' Look Ma, I'm gonna be DLC!
*** The Hunter can even ask him afterwards what that means, and he'll reply that it's 'Deadpool Living Comfortably.'
*** In the same conversation, when asked why he doesn't remove his mask, he'll say that he can be honest and say that there wasn't budget for it.
** Not long after you recruit Wolverine, he tells you about his super scent by saying that it's reminded him he left his coffee out at the cliffs, and he should probably go get it since he used Captain America's mug. Sure enough, if you go find Steve, he's wondering where his 'America's Dad' mug has gone.
** The final part of Ghost Rider's research line is an upgrade to the sword in the yard, with the description saying that Strange intends to make the improvement using the fire of the Ghost Rider as a crucible. After completing the research, the description has Robbie note that Strange basically used the Spirit of Vengeance as a glorified welding torch, and that this is 'probably not going to make it into the comic books.'
** Deadpool's research upgrades include his food truck, complete with outlandish art of him on the side. Tony even notes that while he isn't sure about the actual health benefits of the food Deadpool is promising everyone, it'll be worth going along with it just to see Caretaker's face when it pulls up to the Abbey.
** Making this even better is that the upgrade to the food truck is just a seating area with tables and chairs that Stark claims is for 'technical science reasons.'
** While discussing the Faithbreaker suit, which is derived from a sample from Venom, Peter can advise the Hunter on how to tell if the symbiote is influencing his behavior. This includes acting like a jerk, 'emo haircuts' and dancing on the sidewalk.
** After taking Spider-Man on a mission to the American Southwest, afterwards he might sheepishly ask you not to tell anyone he fell on a cactus during the mission.
** If you walk into Deadpool or stand in his personal space, he might cheekily tell you his safeword is 'banana.'
** After reaching a certain level of friendship with Wolverine, he'll ask if you want to face him in a one on one. You arrive... and find him standing in front of Robbie's game console, puzzling over how to turn it on. The Hunter, being from the 17th century, is just as lost, and after Wolverine tries to press a button to wake it up and nothing happens they both give up. After the scene is over, a brief shot shows that the console was unplugged the whole time.
** Blade founds the book club because he initially was using books to try to get closer to his obvious crush, Captain Marvel, but had to invent the club on the spot when Captain America overheard them and asked to join. Hunter can tease him about his motivations.
** When it's Carol's turn to pick a book for book club, she picks a Kree text that's part military protocol manual, part poetry, and part story. While Blade, Captain America and possibly Hunter say they enjoyed it and do a good job analyzing it at the next meaning, afterwards Blade will pull Hunter aside and admit he thought the book was weird.
** When Wolverine finally joins Blade's book club, he deliberately chooses a retro pulp science fiction novel to get a reaction. At the next meeting, he admits that he did it to drive people away so he could get more of the snacks to himself, but it backfired since everyone actually really enjoyed the book.
** After constantly teasing their mutual interest throughout the game, the Hunter can catch Blade and Captain Marvel having a moment together outside towards the end of the game, likely after having been tipped off by Peter and Robbie, who were taking bets. Carol and Blade get hilariously annoyed at this and will follow up by yelling at Hunter to go away as the latter laughs.
** If you helped push Carol and Blade together during the game, when saying farewell to them before the final battle, Blade will quietly but happily tell you to survive so he can invite you to the wedding. When Hunter loudly asks with surprise if they're really getting married Blade embarrassedly shushes him and clarifies he was talking in hypothetical. On Carol's side, she offers to take Hunter and everyone else on vacation to a party planet, but notes that she'll be getting a private suite with Blade. The Hunter smugly asks if they will be 'canoodling' to which Carol groans that she wishes Nico had never taught them that word.
** During the mission to stop Lilith from assembling the Darkhold in a temple under Mount Wundagore, you have to destroy the pillars holding up the temple to collapse the mountain on top of her after arriving in the Hell Ride with Robbie and Blade. During the fight, the Spirit of Vengeance can remark that they should've driven the Hell Ride through some of the pillars. Blade remarks that he'll tell Robbie the Spirit said that, which gets a laugh from the Spirit in response.
** Towards the end of the game, Robbie can tell you that Peter is banned from sitting on the Hell Ride because his web fluid wrecks the paint job.
** If you bring Hulk on a hacking mission and order him to hack the console, he has a unique animation where he'll punch a few keys with a finger, before giving up and just pounding the keyboard with his fist.
** A lot of the idle posts on Super Link contain a bunch of very funny character interactions. Including:
*** Blade angrily demanding to know which of the Suns left a dirty washcloth in the communal bathroom. He figures out that it's Nico because Magik has a private loofa... and Robbie says right after that he thought it was a communal loofa.
*** Deadpool interrupting an unrelated conversation with messages that say SWIPE LEFT, and continuing to do so as different heroes respond with confused realization he's using the chat like a dating app. He finally declares SWIPE RIGHT when Wolverine chimes in.
*** Captain Marvel irritatedly declaring a ban on eating food in the war room after finding peanut butter on her console. Iron Man initially asks if there was a problem with his sunflower seeds to which Carol replies that no, he tosses most of them in the trash and picks up what misses, complete with data on his accuracy from the console. Spider-Man then sheepishly admits that when he's stressed he sleep-walks... and sleep eats peanut butter sandwiches, to which Carol rescinds the ban so long as he cleans up the mess.
*** Wanda starting a chat chain with the Latin phrase for 'Your ass is sad.' Magik then replies with 'Your ass is a sheep with ears and eyes.' When Wolverine says he doesn't understand, they claim that it's Transian phrases everyone should know, but get instantly called out by Strange who recognizes the phrases from 'Common Latin Insults.' Magik then tells him in Latin to 'eat my shorts' to which Strange replies she can do the same to his cape.

*** If you helped push Carol and Blade together during the game, when saying farewell to them before the final battle, Blade will quietly but happily tell you to survive so he can invite you to the wedding. The Hunter smugly asks if they will be 'canoodling' to which Carol groans that she wishes Nico had never taught him that word.
*** During the mission to stop Lilith from assembling the Darkhold in a temple under Mount Wundagore, you have to destroy the pillars holding up the temple to collapse the mountain on top of her after arriving in the Hell Ride with Robbie and Blade. During the fight, the Spirit of Vengeance can remark that they should've driven the Hell Ride through some of the pillars. Blade remarks that he'll tell Robbie the Spirit said that, which gets a laugh from the Spirit in response.
*** If you bring Hulk on a hacking mission and order him to hack the console, he has a unique animation where he'll punch a few keys with a finger, before giving up and just pounding the keyboard with his fist.

** Similarly, Wanda is extremely taken with the Hunter, with their relationship essentially coming across as a RescueRomance further enhanced by their parallel histories with Transia, Chthon, and the Abbey.

** Similarly, Wanda is extremely taken with the Hunter, with their relationship essentially coming across as a RescueRomance further enhanced by their parallel histories with Transia, Chthon, and the Abbey. During a late game event, Wanda even has to lie to Nico that she's planning on confessing her feelings to the Hunter while covering for them, something the Hunter can tease her about afterwards.

** Not to say any romantic interest is exclusive to the Hunter. Nico and Illyana are very dedicated to rescuing Wanda, the most out of any of the other heroes. Likewise, Strange and Tony's incessant bickering but secretly respecting each other and being concerned for the other's wellbeing is taken straight out of the SlapSlapKiss playbook.

** The two characters who take this the farthest with each other, by far, are Peter/Spider-Man and Robbie/Ghost Rider. As soon as Peter joins the team the two are inseparable and become best friends practically overnight, which is especially notable since it contrasts with the other Suns' exasperation at new members continually arriving. They're constantly paired up in cutscenes and pre-placed events, found their own club together, and a LOT of their dialogue references each other, even when talking with the Hunter. These conversations include them talking about gaming with each other up to plans to literally move in together. Even more damningly, one of the few times Robbie seems annoyed with Peter is when he talks about how Peter constantly talks to him about MJ, in a tone that definitely sounds more jealous than it should. Even the other characters seem to notice, with both the Hunter and Blade among others at various points sending Robbie to Peter either for advice or to calm down when Robbie gets too hot headed.

** On the other side of the spectrum is Nico. While the other Midnight Suns have their problems with the Avengers barging into their sanctum and seeming to take over the whole operation, Nico is the most vocal about hating them and wanting them gone.

As well, the entire questline involving Magik's birthday show she has a similar tendency to Tony to assume she knows best even when other people are telling her otherwise.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Iron Man spends much of the game being condescending towards the Midnight Suns and treating them like inexperienced children.
