* ToughActToFollow: Regarding the music, HansZimmer initially said that he didn't want to score the film because JohnWilliams' theme in the [[Film/{{Superman}} 1978 film]] is unequivocally ''the'' theme of Franchise/{{Superman}} as a whole. He later changed his mind, saying that he welcomed the challenge because Superman is so opposite of Batman.

Re-read the sentence. It didn\'t say \"American *comic* icon,\" it said \"American icon.\" The whole shebang. Batman doesn\'t come CLOSE to being as symbolic of and synonymous with America as Superman does. Superman *embodies* America and all that it stands for, kind of like Captain America (remember the old \"fighting for truth, justice, and the American way\" bit? Yeah, there\'s a reason for that).

** Of course, [[TheDarkKnightTrilogy when another American comic icon]] had a Welshman cast to play him, a lot of the similar fuss died when the first film came out.

* AndTheFandomRejoiced: "ZackSnyder is directing this and ChristopherNolan will be producing ''and'' writing? This is gonna be good!"
** The announcement that it's a ContinuityReboot pleased comics fans who wanted Superman movies to finally reflect a [[TheManOfSteel "modern" or]] PostCrisis [[SupermanBirthright take on]] Superman, [[SupermanReturns unlike more recent nostalgia-riding efforts]] with dated, long-superseded characterizations.
** The announcement that Henry Cavill, who has a similar build and appearance to Superman's, would be playing the character also excited people.
** General Zod being confimed as the film's villian made veteran fans of the series happy, and when MichaelShannon was cast in the role many film buffs jumped for joy.
** "Perry White is black now? It's just like Hollywood to try and make everything so politically... wait, he's being played by ''LaurenceFishburne?'' Never mind."
*** Conversely, a lot of people are ''annoyed'' that Zod is the BigBad, for much the same reason as they were tired that LexLuthor was the BigBad for ''SupermanReturns''; the films just keep reusing the same villains, rather than bringing in {{Brainiac}}, {{Darkseid}}, or some other classic {{Superman}} rogue who has yet to show up on the silver screen.
**** Well, DC is trying to set up a JusticeLeague [[TheMovie movie]], [[FollowTheLeader like Marvel is doing for]] Film/TheAvengers. Darkseid would make a perfect [[DuelingMovies counterpoint to Loki]], so I doubt they'd waste him on the first movie. Or even if Nolan and Snyder don't intend to make this film part of that mythos, they are planning a trilogy; why break out the big guns on the first movie, when Zod and Lex are more well-known to audiences, and comparatively weaker than other villains who will present bigger challenges in the sequels?
**** That is more likely as it seems to be standard practice for new Superhero franchises. ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan'' using The Lizard and ''BatmanBegins'' using Scarecrow for instance.
***** The difference is that Scarecrow and Lizard had never been on the big screen before, or any live-action adaptation for that matter. Zod is well known to fans of the original movies and was prominent in ''{{Smallville}}'', and given that Lex has been overdone some wanted a villain who hasn't been on the big screen before. Darkseid was likely just wishful thinking, but Brainiac was higher up the list anyway and would have been a more unique villain.
