** In general, many people enjoy this version of the prequel trilogy more than the actual films, thanks to the game skipping over maligned scenes like the political drama, while at the same time incorporating hilarious gags and interesting gameplay scenarios. The original game (aka ''The Complete Saga'''s version of the prequels) also gets this reaction to some extent, as the complete lack of dialogue guts most of the story out, with just the bare minimum to facilitate the fun, if simple gameplay.
** One of the most maligned aspects of ''Revenge of the Sith'' was Anakin fatally wounding Padmé with a force choke, which has been seen by many as a KickTheDog moment. This version has him force choke his topper on their wedding cake (an allegory for his inner frustration and self-loathing), which accidentally strikes Padmé when it breaks. It is also implied that instead of dying from a broken heart, she dies of something much simpler like a brain injury.
** Unlike 2011 onwards prints of ''Return of the Jedi'', Darth Vader doesn't scream any [[BigNo Big "NO!"]]s when Palpatine electrocutes Luke, restoring some gravitas that purists lamented the Blu-ray took away by FillingTheSilence.
** ''The Last Jedi''[='s=] contentious reveal that Luke contemplated killing Ben Solo after finding out that his mind had been taken by the Dark Side was changed to Ben Solo attacking him first after Luke found out that Snoke had already corrupted him.

** In ''The Skywalker Saga'', Scavenger characters aren't able to make use of their special abilities until they come across the blueprints for their contraptions in one of two specific story missions, making them the only character class in the game whose unique abilities are locked behind story progress. Under normal circumstances this wouldn't be an issue, as most (of very few) Scavengers in the game are unlocked after those missions and you can get the blueprints early if you play Episode VII first (which is available from the start as a trilogy-beginning episode). However, if you have a specific trilogy-order preference and purchased the Tusken Raider character early in Episode IV (or got other Scavengers from [[BribingYourWayToVictory DLC]]), you're not going to be using them for anything that other readily-available characters can't already do (blasters are very common among the roster and they share the ability to pole-jump and wall-run with Force-users) for a long time until Endor in Episode VI (meanwhile, the Prequel Trilogy does not have any associated Scavengers). If you don't have the blueprints, the game's hint system [[GuideDangIt doesn't tell you]] that you need them to make their contraptions until those story missions (with only a cryptic image of one of their contraptions being shown at puzzle spots).

* EvenBetterSequel: The original ''LEGO Star Wars'' was great, but rather limited; for example, only Force wielders could build objects. When ''II'' came along, it got rid of several of those limitations, and additionally let you unlock the characters from the first game to sweeten the pot. ''The Complete Saga'' could count as well, since it revised the original game's levels to take in the newer gameplay elements of the second game. ** The use of dialogue in cutscenes starting with ''The Force Awakens''. While the original games established the precedent of reducing all dialogue to VoiceGrunting and giving the series something of a silent comedy vibe, the newer titles in the series added dialogue from the movies to be consistent with later LEGO adaptation games. As such, there are fans who much prefer the original approach -- which led to many of the most notable jokes in the early games -- and those who prefer actually hearing the cast of characters speak. ''The Skywalker Saga'' does includes a "Mumble Mode" to return the dialog to classic grunting, which helps bridge the gap even if it doesn't perfectly replicate the original silent comedy exactly.

** The [[ThatOneLevel infamous]] "Mos Espa Podrace" and "Gunship Cavalry" levels from the first game were fixed in ''The Complete Saga'' to make them less frustrating to play. The controls were improved so they play more like the second game's ship levels, and the levels are less segmented than they were originally, removing the strict time limits that the old versions imposed. The original versions are included as bonus levels for completionists, but their mini kits and True Jedi requirements are removed.
** After Captain Phasma's disappointing lack of screentime in ''Film/TheForceAwakens'', she gets a memorable boss fight in the main storyline of the game, as well as a playable role in two of the Adventure Levels.
** When ''The Skywalker Saga'' was announced, the developers nixed any plans to adapt ''Film/RogueOne'' or ''Film/{{Solo}}'', instead by sticking to the main nine movies. When the final release date was announced, it was confirmed they ''would'' be using the DownloadableContent to feature content from both movies and content as recent as ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheBadBatch'' and the second season of ''Series/TheMandalorian''.
** The game includes ''Mumble Mode'' for those who prefer the non-voice-acted cutscenes as situated in the original games than voice-acted ones.
** After multiple movie-based Lego games, particularly ''VideoGame/LegoJurassicWorld'', were criticized for [[FakeShemp ripping archive audio straight from the source material]] and shoddily editing it into the game itself, creating massive VocalDissonance, the development team for ''The Skywalker Saga'' opted to instead re-dub dialogue for the game using actors from both the movies and the cartoons.
** When you complete ''any'' Episode on ''Skywalker Saga'', you immediately unlock Galaxy Free Play, allowing you to revisit ''any'' open world hub area you've unlocked to complete any tasks that, due to character or ship restrictions, you weren't able to during normal gameplay. This prevents the issue in previous games of missing out on secrets the first time you run through the stages.
** After fans expressed disappointment at the Venator capital ship, the interior of which was seen in one of the trailers, was DummiedOut, TT Games surprised and delighted everyone by releasing a patch that added it back in alongside the Invisible Hand, Home One, and Fulmanatrix.

Some are just regular {{Joke Character}}s, but others are required for portions of the game, and blatantly inferior to others, with Yoda (extremely slow on the ground), Chewbacca (unwieldy melee attack, can't dodge), and Jar-Jar (no abilities aside from high-jumping, [[TheScrappy is Jar-Jar]]) being particularly bad examples, since all of their abilities are rendered redundant by any Jedi/shooter/jumper character. Later games took efforts to [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap mitigate this]], with ''The Clone Wars'' giving every character the ability to attack in some form, ''The Force Awakens'' giving each at least three abilities that make them decently useful, and ''The Skywalker Saga'' elevating this to grouping everyone by Classes, giving all members of a class the same ComboPlatterPowers, with just the implementation being different, alongside almost all characters having at least one melee and ranged attack.

know the ITAE thread agreed to keep it, but I'm removing this anyway, as this is still misuse of the trope. Better Than Canon only applies to fan-works, not to any official materials (regardless of canon status). Even if it’s non-canon, the Lego Star Wars games are still officially licensed works, so they don't count.

* BetterThanCanon: Despite being a non-canon adaptation, several fans feel that ''The Skywalker Saga'' improves aspects that were controversial about the source material. %%Trope Talk determined this is a valid example: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13543987200A54420100&page=794#comment-19841
** In general, many people enjoy this adaptation of the prequel trilogy more than the actual films, thanks to the game skipping over maligned scenes like the political drama, while at the same time incorporating hilarious gags and interesting gameplay scenarios.
** Finn and Poe [[https://www.cracked.com/article_33336_lego-star-wars-the-skywalker-saga-fixes-sequel-trilogy-by-going-full-gay.html getting more]] HoYay moments in the game has been treated as this by fans of the pairing after ''The Rise of Skywalker'' infamously gave them both female [[SatelliteLoveInterest Satellite Love Interests]] seemingly just to discourage the pairing.
** The scenes where Rey strikes Finn with her staff in Jakku and throws him away with the Force in Kef Bir are removed in all games featuring them. Both of those scenes were low points for Rey and their absence made her more heroic.
** Rey kissing Kylo, who was a toxic influence for her in all three movies, caused many complaints. Here it was changed into a hug and Rey completely rejects Kylo as a love interest.
** [[EnsembleDarkhorse Admiral Ackbar]] gets one last FandomNod in before his death, often panned [[DroppedABridgeOnHim for how quickly it happens]], by trying to say his memetic "It's a trap!" line again [[KilledMidSentence before being sucked out the window]].
** Even the final lines of the sequel trilogy end up getting tweaked, removing the common critique of "Rey who?" being [[{{Narm}} unintentionally hilarious]].

Already in Better Than Canon, since this game isn't canon with the movies

** Padmé’s death in ''Revenge of the Sith'' was met with mixed opinions when it was told she had simply lost the will to live. ''Skywalker Saga'' streamlines this by having Anakin hit her head hard with a wedding topper, implying that she died of a slow-acting traumatic brain injury.

* WTHCastingAgency: Bringing in Daniel Logan (who played preteen/teenage Boba Fett in ''Attack of the Clones'' and ''The Clone Wars'') to voice the adult Boba Fett in ''The Skywalker Saga'' was an odd choice to say the least, since Logan's voice is higher pitched than both Creator/TemueraMorrison and Creator/DeeBradleyBaker (who voices the Clones as well as Jango Fett here) making Boba sound too young.

** Many of the scene alterations in ''The Skywalker Saga'' has been criticized by fans, such as removing part of many lines of dialogue, removing the context of so many scenes as well, and what some perceive the overuse of slapstick and unfunny jokes in places where it shouldn't be necessary, compared to how the original games managed to recapture the scenes without dialogue and putting some healthy amount of slapstick that doesn't really feel out of place.

* MagnificentBastard: In ''The Skywalker Saga'', Bossk, a notorious Bounty Hunter, plans on locating a treasure on Mustafar for himself. When seemingly caught by Aurra Sing and the Player Character smuggling trampolines to utilize for the treasure, he convinces them that he's planning on giving them to the workers, even hiring the player to smuggle them into Mustafar's atmosphere for him. When caught with the treasure later, he lure the player into an arena to fight them, having put trampolines all around to bounce on and make him harder to hit. Being bested, he gives them the treasure with little fuss, even offering his services to them, having been impressed by their "bouncing skills".

Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

* UncannyValley: Well, they're LEGO figures, so they were never meant to look realistic, but in the first two ''Star Wars'' games the characters' eyes were plain black dots that seemed rather... soulless due to the design style LEGO used at the time. The later games fixed this around the same time the official sets did by adding a white dot inside the black dots that could act as a pupil. This returns in ''The Skywalker Saga'' with the Classic Characters DLC pack, which has several characters with their original soulless black eyes, and also with LEGO's usual yellow skin, which looks extremely off when every game has had characters with realstic skin tones.
