* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: These films have always had trouble with making the heroes likable, and now we have those same heroes dying horribly in downright disturbing ways all throughout the film in addition to a lot of civilian death and general mayhem, not unlike Marvel's ''ComicBook/{{Ultimatum}}'' event. The hopelessness of the situation is so oppressive that it becomes difficult to care after a while. ** Superman's invasion plan (which can basically be summarized as "take the heavy hitters, show up at Darkseid's front door, and kick his ass") was poorly thought out. While the invasion largely failed because of the presence of the Paradooms, which the Justice League were unaware of, and Darkseid [[spoiler:monitoring their briefing through Cyborg's eye]], the fact that no one seriously objected to such a simple plan, with the only contingency being [[spoiler:compelling an unwitting John Constantine to run away and ''eventually'' magic up a solution]], is laughable. Even if it was doomed to fail, Superman should have at the very least sent spies and gather intelligence before making the attack.

** Darkseid is spying on the League via Cyborg and knows of their strategy and has a form of mind control technology.

* TheyCopiedItNowItSucks: While still acknowledging how it takes two years to put these movies together, some reviews have accused the film of trying to follow on the coattails of ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' and ''Film/AvengersEndgame'', in that the surviving heroes sought to recoup from the loss of their friends and allies to an unstoppable villain and band together to stop said villain. [[spoiler: Also, like with ''Endgame'', the heroes (or at least one of them in this case) [[SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong wants to try to fix everything via time travel]])]].

* TheWoobie: He hides it well, but just imagine [[spoiler: John Constantine living with the memory of how he left the love of his life to be torn apart by monsters while she screamed his name. He was magically compelled to flee, but didn't discover that until years later, so he's been forced to live with his actions all that time. It's bad enough that simply the mention of Zatanna's name is what makes Constantine rejoin the fight.]]

*** Adding to that narm factor is the Paradooms ''wildly'' vary just how strong and durable they are. [[spoiler:In one scene scene, they go from being able to take hits from the likes of Captain Marvel and Superboy and keep on kicking to being easily taken down by a simple staff wielded by Batgirl.]]

* EsotericHappyEnding: While the [[PyrrhicVictory ending is hardly a happy one]], it's given a ray of hope that [[spoiler: Flash creating another flashpoint will undo the horrific events of the movie]]. However, this is a huge gamble as Flashpoint Paradox has shown us there's always the possibility of an even worse timeline taking the original's place. Also, there's no guarantee that the events of the movie (and all the others before it) won't happen again, making the attempt pointless. [[spoiler: [[CosmicRetcon And that's not even going into how the entire series was retconned because of this.]]]]

** The film appears to also borrow heavily from ''ComicBook/Earth2'', being about Apokolips invading and the remaining heroes fighting a losing war after the defeat of the DC Trinity, planet Earth eventually becoming "consumed" by Darkseid and Apokolips, and in the finale the heroes utilize a mystical rebooting of reality to resurrect "their" Earth.

* SpecialEffectsFailure:
** The [[ConspicuousCGI CGI]] used for the Paradooms against the Suicide Squad are quite... dodgy, to say the least.
** Speaking of the Suicide Squad, [[spoiler:their final stand]] has two noticeable errors. One of which is [[spoiler:Luthor's corpse missing a hand that is certainly not the result of Paradoom mutilation]], while the other case is King Shark's teeth being normal-coloured despite them being replaced with Kryptonite prosthetics.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: The movie earns its '''hard R''' rating with some truly gory deaths and even an f-bomb. Any parent buying this cartoon movie with Superman on the cover is going to be in for a shock.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: [[spoiler: It appears the situation at the end of the film was serious enough to warrant another Flashpoint, but who knows whether anything could have been fixed/salvaged? After all Darkseid was gone.]]

** How unrelentingly dark the movie is can become this to some, feeling that it's trying too hard to be dark and mature to an almost comedic degree.

* EvenBetterSequel: If early reviews are any indication, this installment has been much more positively received than many of the DCAMU movies that came before it, with many reviewers praising the action sequences, animation, and performances. It is considered a worthy finale to the current DCAMU that manages to tie together many different elements of the universe- including the Suicide Squad, the Justice League and the Dark characters- into a massive, mostly satisfying CrisisCrossover. However, this is not universal and many consider it ''worse''.

* {{Sequelitis}}: While some consider it better, others consider it a lackluster finale to the animated universe and considerably worse than ''WesternAnimation/TheDeathOfSuperman'' and ''WesternAnimation/ReignOfTheSupermen''. The overwhelmingly dark tone, [[AnyoneCanDie frequent character deaths]]], and massive HappyEndingOverride are sited as many reasons for it.
