** While there were naturally many differences, ''Apokolips War'' turned out to be pretty similar to what Zack Snyder had planned for ''Script/JusticeLeague2'', the plans of which were released a few years after the film came out, especially in regards to Darkseid defeating the heroes and taking over the earth, brainwashing a hero into being his servant, and [[spoiler:using time travel to undo his victory]].

Added DiffLines:

* BrokenBase: The film is almost overwhelmingly bleak and dark, making it a big ContestedSequel. For some this darkness just makes it overly edgy for no reason other than to kill off fan favourite characters, but others feel that the darkness is justified since this is a Justice League story where Darkseid ''won'' and this is logically what would happen based on the depiction of Apokolips in the comics.

This animated movie is too divisive among DC and superhero fans to qualify and YMMV tropes cannot be played with.

* EvenBetterSequel: This installment has been much more positively received than many of the DCAMU movies that came before it, with many reviewers praising the action sequences, animation, and performances. It is considered a worthy finale to the current DCAMU that manages to tie together many different elements of the universe- including the Suicide Squad, the Justice League and the Dark characters- into a massive, mostly satisfying CrisisCrossover. However, it did receive some criticism for its overly dark tone and for [[spoiler:ending the franchise with a CosmicRetcon]].

Anything That Moves is a disambig.

* OlderThanTheyThink: Constantine's former relationship with King Shark isn't all that new, considering his comic version's habit of AnythingThatMoves since the 90s.

Broken Base is a disagreement within fans toward something they like, not fights between fans and detractors of something.

* BrokenBase: Either the film is an EvenBetterSequel and an awesome conclusion to the DCAMU for the various risks it takes such as [[spoiler:most of the cast being non-Leaguers/non-Titans, allowing them to take the spotlight instead]] or is an edgefest that disservices beloved characters by giving them overly violent and unceremonious deaths/fates, sealed with a AudienceAlienatingEnding.

** Etrigan as a bored and drunken DeadpanSnarker BloodKnight is a lot of fun.

This is Flame Bait now.

* IdiotPlot: The film is kicked off by Superman deciding to take ''the entire Justice League'' to invade Apokalips with no escape plan, no backup plan, no strategy aside from charging Darkseid head-on, no scouting or advance party of any kind, and not spotting the obvious trap of Darkseid warping into the League's space to deploy all his strongest troops on useless planets in plain view of the League to lure them out. Furthermore, Batman realizes that Superman's plan is probably going to fail, but doesn't raise objections or have ''any'' backup plan other than [[spoiler: having Zatana bewitch Constantine to flee the battle]] and just hoping that Constantine or any surviving heroes can eventually come up with a plan.
** Wonder Woman still has the Lasso of Truth, which dispels brainwashing and returns the heroes under Darkseid's sway to their right state of mind. Constantine uses it exactly once- on Wonder Woman herself- and it is never brought up again. A significant chunk of the climax is taken up by the cast struggling to find ''other'' ways to free various heroes from Darkseid's control.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* NauseaFuel: The movie turns the {{Squick}} UpToEleven with very graphic sequences, like dismemberment, characters being ripped apart, and a lot of blood.

The initial Red String entry was deleted on the grounds of bias, but YMMV pages exist for audience-reaction tropes, and the feeling that Damian and Raven was a forced relationship was indeed a common audience reaction at the time of the movie's release. The Signature Scene trope is also for scenes that people recognize a work for regardless of whether or not they have watched it, not just scenes that a fan of the work might have personally liked.

** Robin/Damian confessing that he has feelings for Raven and had for a while. Raven bringing Damian back to life and saying she loves him. Damian and Raven sharing their first and last kiss as Flash creates another Flashpoint.
** Finding out Zatanna spelled Constantine to leave the first fight because they would need him if there was ever hope for the remaining hero's to win in a second attack. Zatanna bringing Constantine back to life so he and Raven can release Trigon to fight Darksied.

Added DiffLines:

* StrangledByTheRedString: Many DC fans who had no opinion one way or another on any Raven ship found the Raven/Damian pairing to be uncomfortable and forced and consider the development between them in previous installments to have been lackluster at best if they were attempting to justify making an entire movie focusing heavily on their relationship.
