History YMMV / Jormungand

Added DiffLines:

* MagnificentBitch: Koko Hekmatyar is a brilliant young ArmsDealer who runs her organization with ruthless efficiency. Constantly making advantageous illegal deals and dictating the course of conflicts, Koko adopts the young former child soldier Jonah as a way to keep herself shackled to her humanity, frequently taking on those who attempt to undermine or kill her while leading them to their own demises in breathtakingly impressive fashion. Koko is revealed to despise the arms trade despite her skill with it, and puts Project Jormungand into play: a plan to use a satellite system to seal the skies from humanity, destroying all aircrafts in the sky at once to force world peace, believing herself to be the one to create a true peace for the world, even successfully pushing Jonah into agreeing with the plan at the end, declaring her personal soldiers will be the final soldiers left.

* CriticalResearchFailure: The [=SUVs=] used in Britain and South Africa are left hand drive, which is not allowed legally in either country.
* CutAndPasteTranslation: In the Japanese original, Valmet said in the first few minutes of the first episode that if Jonah would do anything to Koko, she'd kill him and than commit suicide. In the English dub, the suicide comment was omitted.
** During the fight with Karen Low, she says, that the dead can talk, unless she slices up their faces. The English dub omits the part about the slicing.

Added DiffLines:

* CrazyAwesome: While not to the extent of Anime/BlackLagoon, many of the fight scenes and characters run on this. Can't shoot a bulletproof armored van while driving down the road at 60 miles an hour? No problem, just jump on the roof, jump across to their car, slip inside while they're reloading and slit all their throats. Anti-tank missile? Please. Throw it off course with a grenade explosion.

Added DiffLines:

* AcceptableTargets: Averted. The series takes on a very BlackAndGrayMorality with its approach to the shady world of international arms dealing.

Added DiffLines:

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Despite having no named members, zero lines and a role that amounts to little more than a cameo. Seal Team 9, A.K.A "Night Nine", proved popular enough to crack the top twenty in a popularity poll.
** Speaking of popularity polls, the Japanese must really love Schokolade enough to have her came in third place at the aforementioned poll. Coming ahead of other characters like Koko and Lehm, despite only being a secondary character. Not bad for an airheaded CIA ditz.

* JustForFun/XMeetsY: Manga/BlackLagoon meets Film/LordOfWar.

* WhatAnIdiot / YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Karen does this when a Daxinghai subordinate panics and fires his assault rifle, revealing their position to Koko's team and spoiling her planned ambush. Karen walks up to him and shoots the mercenary in the head.

* BaseBreaker: Fan opinion was split on the ending, with one side believing it was a NoEnding that didn't really resolve anything, while the other side argues that it leaves future events open to interpretation. Others argue that the plan itself was a failure from the start and that the ending was a way of avoiding having to actually having to write it.

*** Dr. Miami would also love to have her new bodyguard,
Karen Low
, such big breasts as Valmet for her to fondle, which she unfortunately hasn't.
