* LGBTFanbase: Unsurprising since the entire series is positively dripping with HoYay, and appeals to a wide spectrum of queer audiences. The first parts are filled with Creator/TomOfFinland-esque manly designs popular with BaraGenre fans, while later ones appeal to fans of {{Bishonen}}. On the female side of things there's Part 6 which takes place in GirlsBehindBars and includes strong, sometimes even ButchLesbian looking women in its cast, as well as Scarlet Valentine in Part 7 who is openly bisexual.

* AngstWhatAngst: When villains target out heroes, it's not uncommon for innocent civilians to become collateral damage. Examples can be found in every part, but the most extreme example is probably in Part 5, where Cioccolata probably killed most of the coastal Italian village's population, plus a good chunk of Rome's, with his Green Day, in an attempt to stop Bucciarati's squad. Yet, heroes rarely seem to express guilt over the many innocent lives that are lost just because they happened to be near them at the wrong time.

** Fans of Franchise/YuGiOh and its sequels love comparing it to ''[=JoJo=]''. It's easy to see why thanks to both series taking their respective subjects [[SeriousBusiness very seriously while acknowledging]] their over-the-top antics, memetic hand and body poses, and HamToHamCombat. The storytelling of both series is also similar in execution, split into separate parts that each following a new protagonist contrasting the last, but the same overarching theme of overcoming fate and friendship. There is also a theory that Kazuki Takahashi was inspired to make a card game by the D'arby scenes in Stardust Crusaders; he is at least on record as admitting to have been inspired by the darkness in ''[=JoJo=]'' and the defeat of Telence is very similar to how Yugi would defeat Pegasus. The real kickers for many though are twofold; a) Sartorius/Saiou from ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'', who uses a tarot-themed deck that includes a monster based on The World who has the effect to skip a player's turn, and who is voiced by Creator/TakehitoKoyasu himself ''before'' his role as Dio. Needless to say, the fans and Koyasu himself when he [[RoleReprise reprised]] the role for ''VideoGame/YuGiOhDuelLinks'', have had an absolute field day with this. b) The protagonists of both franchises' fifth series (Giorno Giovanna from ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureVentoAureo Vento Aureo]]'' and Yuya Sakaki ''Anime/YuGiOhArcV'') are both voiced by Creator/KenshoOno...and in the dub, Giorno and Part 4's ''Yuya'' Fungami were both voiced by Phillip Reich.

** A popular explaination on why Stand Users are capable of surviving what should be lethal wounds in real life is that Stand Users are inherently tougher and stronger than regular humans; this has no basis in canon, with Stand Users surviving said attacks through a mixure of strategy and raw determination at most. A similiar idea is that gaining a Stand makes you smarter, which ''does'' have some basis in canon, but it only applies to non-human Stand Users. [[note]] Mannish Boy, an intelligent Stand-using baby, may sound like an example of this, but Shizuka, another Stand-using baby, does not display the same level of intelligence.[[/note]]

Speedwagon's extraordinary devotion to Jonathan is obviously very commonly interpreted as HoYay, but Jonathan ends up in an OfficialCouple with Erina, and [[spoiler:gets killed by Dio on the first night of their honeymoon]], so there's no way that a relationship between the two can fit in canon. Because of this, fans commonly interpret Speedwagon as having a one-sided crush on Jonathan, [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy supporting his relationship with Erina]] despite the heartbreak. This is further supported by ''Manga/BattleTendency'''s epilogue, which states that [[spoiler:Speedwagon died of a heart attack at an old age, while having never married ("[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He_never_married he never married]]" was used in England as an euphemism for homosexuality)]], implying that Speedwagon was never able to move on from his feelings for Jonathan.

Actually, I think this just plain isn't an example. Better Than Canon is for fanfics and fanon that are preferred over the source material. A scanlation isn't a fanwork.

* BetterThanCanon: The official translated version of the manga is in black-and-white, as most manga is. There are officially colored versions from the JOJO-D releases, but they're in Japanese only. Since the addition of color makes the manga much more immersive, and the busier panels are far less cluttered-looking because of the extra details, most fans end up reading the unofficial "[=JoJo's=] Colored Adventure" scanlation, which uses the colored versions as its base, rather than the official black-and-white English versions. Many [=YouTubers=] even use these panels to illustrate their points or as reference, simply because they're easier to digest.

** In ''Steel Ball Run'', any time that Gyro comes up with a gag, odds are it's gonna be a weird non-sequitur joke that MakesAsMuchSenseInContext and is never alluded to again.
** In Part 4, after getting [[spoiler: pierced by the arrow a second time]] Kira's hairstyle change comes out of left field, with no explanation given or anyone remarking on it. The anime adds to the confusion by showing [[spoiler: Kira brushing his hair, and this somehow causing it to change colour into silver with black streaks.]]
** One of the most infamous is the ''Torture Dance'' from Vento Aureo. As if having his head severed with ''Sticky Fingers'' so that he can be beaten ''and'' interrogated at the same time, Mista then hangs Zucchero's head by his eyelid with a fish hook and slowly blinds him using a pair of glasses to focus the sunlight. And then Narancia throws on some music and starts ''dancing''[[note]]The song is never named and the anime uses an original composition, but a common belief is that Narancia was listening to Prince's ''Pussy Control''; a song from the same album Giorno's stand - Gold Experience - gets its name. It took less than a day for the internet to start setting the dance ''to'' said song.[[/note]]. And then, for whatever reason, both Mista and Fugo join in. For six panels/a full minute.

*** A lot of long time fans are fans of ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'', owing to the fact that ''[=JoJo=]'' was hugely influenced by it in its early years. Both series feature [[RatedMForManly manly men doing manly things]] and insane amounts of over the top the violence. It helps that the first three installments's design was inspired by Tetsuo Hara's artstyle.
