* AccidentalInnuendo: Bertrand had this to say right before [[spoiler:killing Wolfe]].

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Nix is supposed to be sympathized with because [[spoiler: Bertrand killed her parents]]. However, she comes off as a homicidal sociopath. The only thing you could say in her favor was that [[spoiler: she was willing to sacrifice herself for the RFI]] and even that was done solely for selfish reasons (namely the Beast killing the Corrupted she had tamed).

* MostAnnoyingSound: The Ice Men. For some, that muffled, high-pitched tone they speak in with FAR too much reverb is a BerserkButton and may have you frantically launching rockets at them or reaching for the mute button just to shut them up.
** The footsteps made by the Ice Titan enemies, especially if playing a UGC mission with a bunch of them. (it gets even worse if you have a good sound system with a subwoofer)
* NightmareFuel: : The Beast. Just the idea of a MagmaMan who can turn into a [[AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever giant]] is pretty damn intimidating.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Nix is supposed to be sympathized with because [[spoiler: Bertrand killed her parents]]. However, she comes off as a homicidal sociopath. The only thing you could say in her favor was that [[spoiler: she was willing to sacrifice herself for the RFI]].

* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Joseph Bertrand III]] turns ordinary human beings into the Corrupted, performs cruel experiments on Lucy Kuo, uses the Power Transfer Device to turn Vermaak 88 into Forced Conduits in a process that will eventually drive them insane, was responsible for the sacrificial death of Nix's mother and several hundred others in his attempt to activate his own Conduit powers, and, angry that many Conduits appear normal while he, who voluntarily became a Conduit yet transformed into [[EldritchAbomination The Behemoth]], [[BoomerangBigot orders the execution of any Conduits or potential Conduits in the starting move towards total genocide]]. In addition to all that, he also planned on selling the Vermaak as personal soldiers to major powers around the world. Bertrand nearly started an arms race which might have sparked another World War, [[RunningBothSides in charge of both The Militia and, as The Behemoth, in charge of The Corrupted]], thus tugging the strings the whole time. Never fully seeming to realize how terrible a monster he's become, his KarmicTransformation is completely lost on him, despite the fact that the only power he unlocked through the murder of hundreds of innocents being the transformation into a ravenous monster; the only conclusion he draws from this is that [[InsaneTrollLogic if he has become a monster through the activation of his Conduit powers, then all Conduits are monsters, and must be exterminated]].

** While the mission creator is mostly well done, it lacks some features that really limits your creativity, such as the lack of a Karma detector, the inability to make cars drive [[note]]They can be made to move with the physics editor, but making one to look like it's driving somewhere is pretty darn difficult[[/note]] and the relatively small memory you're allowed to use, although the last one is a limitation forced by the PS3. The swear filter has also been criticized, mostly because it also censors words [[DoubleStandard that the main characters use frequently throughout the story mode.]]

* BrokenBase: Pre-release, Cole was heavily redesigned to resemble [[VideoGame/{{Uncharted}} Nathan Drake.]] The backlash against this was large enough for Sucker Punch to reconsider and change Cole back to his original design.

* StrawmanHasAPoint: Kuo's reluctance to [[spoiler: sacrifice herself when the RFI gets activated]]. Even if the RFI was the only way to [[spoiler: stop the Beast, which could kill millions]], anybody in that situation would be apprehensive about giving up their lives suddenly unless they were suicidal. Not helping matters is that many people with the Conduit Gene had to [[spoiler: die without knowing why]]. However, despite that, she's painted as a DirtyCoward.

* AccidentalAesop: Zeke's character arc has a big one. Instead of spending your time wanting what you can't have and trying to accomplish what you're not suited for, if you simply focus on doing your best to help others, you can eventually become great.

* TheScrappy: Nix. She's got a tragic back story, but that's treated as a licence to be insane, rather than a reason for her violent streak. It's especially noticeable because she's usually put opposite Kuo, who has more character depth. Nix is crazy, in way that makes you sit back and say, "Can people really be that crazy? I don't think so. And it looks like Cole likes her for some reason. Great, there goes WillingSuspensionOfDisbelief".
