The guy who was making these edits has a SERIOUS bias towards this film. Like it's ridiculous how obvious it was that they only came to this films pages just to defend it.

** Due to how incredibly unlikeable some of the characters are in the film, standouts being Judith, Ronnie, Wesley, and a couple asylum guards in the director's cut, it can be deeply satisfying to see Michael off them.

Not what a Mandela Effect is. Also, Repair Dont Respond.

* MandelaEffect: Everyone seems to think this film is absolutely chock full of truly hatable characters. This is a common misconception. The only really horrible characters are Ronnie, Wesley, and in the director's cut the rapist orderlies and the nurse who insults Michael's relation to his sister (the rapist orderlies aren't in the theatrical cut, and in that cut the nurse doesn't insult Michael at all and in fact only compliments his baby sister's cuteness). Judith is semi-hatable but also somewhat sympathetic because she's a victim of the same awful home life Michael is. Literally every other character in the film is either perfectly normal or perfectly likeable. Just like the original Halloween gained a reputation as a gory splatter film despite having almost not blood in it whatsoever simply because the film was so scary at the time, this film only gained a reputation for having an entire cast of godawful characters not because it actually is, but because the few horrible characters that are in the film are so extremely detestable that it makes the film seem a lot more full of awful people than it actually is.

*** This is false. Loomis states that Michael is a product of both internal and external factors, creating a perfect storm to turn him into what he ends up being. He was already naturally deranged before Ronnie, as he's been abusing and killing animals for who knows how long. His abusive family and school life aren't the cause, they simply push him the rest of the way over the edge on which he was already teetering.

* TooBleakStoppedCaring: While most horror films generally have a large quantity of jerkass characters, this film ups the ante by making practically every character as violently unlikable as possible. Most of those that aren't besides Laurie, her babysitting charges, Loomis and the Bracketts Mr. and Mrs. Strode, Michael's school principal, the cemetery groundskeeper, Ismael, and Mrs. Myers. are either barely seen or quickly killed off. Combine that with the incredibly cynical tone and questionable changes made to Michael's backstory, and the film can be rather painful to watch.

** Michael's mask shouldn't have been that usable after being stuck under some floorboards for 17 years. Sure, it realistically was shown as cracked and faded after being there for so long, but, being made out of latex, the constant changes of the seasons would have melted it, hardened it, and/or turned it to dust.
** Also, Loomis shouldn't have been able to get a gun so easily, pointed out by many people.

It's also briefly implies implied that Ronnie is Ronnie might be sexually abusive of her (or at least might want to her.
be) when he makes an explicit comment about her behind in front of her mother, although this could also just be him trying to antagonize Deborah as much as humanly possible.
* MoralEventHorizon: Michael crosses it when he brutally kills Ismael Cruz, the only guard who ever showed him any kindness. kindness, for the crime of trying to put him back into the confinement of his room that he's been locked in for over a decade-and-a-half. This was later revealed to have been deliberate; deliberate, as the creators wanted to show just how far gone Michael had become and that he really was a monster despite his tragic past.

** As pointed out during the review of the film by WebVideo/Phelous, the merits of giving Michael an origin and explaining his murderous nature is dubious at best (and has been done poorly before), but it is difficult to take Michael as a child seriously with the tantrum-esque "I'M NOT LISTENING!! *SCREECHES LOUDLY*" moment, to say nothing of how this can make it difficult to take this version of Michael seriously as an adult killer.
** A lot of what Ronnie, Michael's stepfather, says and/or does. The film starts off with him mocking his baby stepdaughter by mimicking her crying, then telling Deborah that Michael's probably going to grow up and "cut his dick and balls off and change his name to Michelle". He's almost cartoonishly unlikeable. The whole character is like someone took the mind of a twelve-year-old playground bully and put in the body of a middle-aged alcoholic wreck. As a result, he comes off as more of a comedic parody of a HateSink who's amusing to watch.
** One of the biggest issues of the film is that the first 1/3rd of the movie makes Michael both overly sympathetic and annoying (despite his multiple murders), making hard to not picture the whiny kid even when Michael is a violent, hulking monster as an adult.

** While the scenes of Annie lying injured are mainly TearJerker and NightmareFuel moments,

* AdaptationDisplacement: Some millennials or newer fans of the series will sometimes think of this film and its 2009 sequel instead of the 1978 original or the seven other sequels after it. However, since the release of the Creator/DavidGordonGreen films, more young people have become familiar with the older films of the series.

However, since Already a minor example, it's become almost entirely averted by now due to the release of the Creator/DavidGordonGreen films, which were connected to the original film. Because of that, more young people who weren't aware of the original have since watched and become familiar with it and the other older films of the series.

Added DiffLines:

** After spending the whole film with a new story about Michael and his origins, halfway through it just becomes a remake of the original. Even the many fans who hate exploring Michael's past have noted that the film would've been better if they stuck to that idea rather than devolving into redoing the first movie's story with fairly little deviation.
