* EnsembleDarkhorse: ''Chatterbox'' from ''III'' provided the humour on the radio that many players ignored the soundtrack stations. In most of the later games, there are usually a few hilarious talk shows to choose from.

* CreatorsPet: The classic rock stations all get larger playlists than other stations. Los Santos Rock Radio has 23 songs while the AlternativeRock station Vinewood Boulevard Radio has 12 for example.

* GrandTheftAutoEffect: TropeNamer and arguable TropeMaker. Lampshaded in ''IV'' when the rap station DJ says you'd better like [[KanyeWest "Flashing Lights"]] because they are gonna play it again, and again, and again.[[note]]Which isn't a bad thing, being that the rest of the station's lineup comes from New York at a time when New York hip-hop was at its lowest point in years. Hi, Fat Joe![[/note]]

* MissedMomentOfAwesome: The lack of mid-90s New York hip-hop (especially from the big names like JayZ and the WuTangClan) in ''IV'' was a big letdown for some.
** Pending DLC, the absence of any sort of '90s alternative rock station seems to be this for ''V''. Many a fan's opinion of the soundtrack has been, "It's good, but where are the RedHotChiliPeppers?"

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Is [[GTARadio Lazlow]] really TheLastDJ like he claims to be, or just a deluded, unlikable has-been/never-was who deserves to fail at his endeavors?

* OlderThanTheyThink: You'll be very enlightened if you listen to contemporary hip-hop, then listen to the other radio stations in the games. In addition to [[NothingButHits the obvious hits]] from the different time periods, they included a ''lot'' of songs that have been sampled for famous rap cuts, probably because those are the easiest to license. Examples include the Isley Brothers' "Between The Sheets" (which was turned into TheNotoriousBIG's "Big Poppa") and "Foosteps in the Dark" (whose main guitar riff was used in IceCube's "It Was a Good Day", itself featured in ''San Andreas''), and David McCallum's "The Edge" (which was the basis for Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode").

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Is [[GTARadio Lazlow]] really TheLastDJ like he claims to be, or just a deluded, unlikable has-been who deserves to fail at his endeavors?

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: A news report in ''IV'' reveals that several movie goers were decapitated at the premiere of "Dragonbrain". Flash forward to 2012 and several people being ''shot'' at the premiere of ''Film/TheDarkKnightRises''.

** This troper would absolutely like to add Vladivostok FM. EVERYTHING THAT PLAYS ON IT.
*** Indeed; It seems as though Rockstar Games went out of their way to get some of the best in Russian (and in Ruslana's case, Ukrainian) music. However, special mention ''must''go to Massive B Sound System 96.9 (simply some of the BEST dancehall out there!), Liberty Rock Radio 97.8, and Radio Broker. Also in San Andreas mention must go to Radio X.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Princess Robot Bubblegum from her ShowWithinAShow in IV has a lot of fans. Not all that surprising given that she's a parody of JapaneseMediaTropes.
** That being said...she also has a lot of haters too. Because a lot of the tropes that are parodied on her show are [[SeinfeldIsUnfunny pretty dated]] and they reiterate the idea that AllAnimeIsNaughtyTentacles.
