* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: ''Makai Senki'' #10 looks like a string of these, thanks to the [[TheUnmasquedWorld Ki manifestations infesting the city becoming visible all at once]], but the one that stands out the most is the fox-mask-wearing little-girl spirit who keeps showing up, but doesn't lead up to anything important, and ''certainly'' didn't make itself useful when one of the Ki manifestations gets violent.
** The little fox girl was a guide, summoned by Leo to help him navigate the ki-manifestations of the city.

* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Just pick ANY fight in the series.
** Surfing a giant sword, anyone?

Among the most prominent examples have to be the Clown Horror and Lunarken, the Horror from Episode 5, the latter on account of the fact that the episode she appears in plays out like a horror movie.
* TearJerker:

** Episode 15 of ''Makai Senki''. Flashback during Kouga and his friends' training with Wataru Shijima. Everything seems to be going well, with Kouga and his friends forming a strong bond of friendship and Wataru being proud of their ability, until the last minute [[spoiler: where a Horror comes to the village where the training is being held and kills all of Kouga's friend, while he could only watch as it devours them. It makes Kouga killing the Horror in the present time much more satisfying.]]

* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Soukoku no Maryu is a visual feast throughout the entire movie, justified by the increased budget for it. Special mention goes to the climax, especially the fight against the Maryu.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Graphic violence, nudity, and mature themes.

* MagnificentBastard: [[EvilTwin Sigma Fudo]], aka "[[EvilGenius The Man in the Red Mask]]", was once a Makai Priest who was passed up for inheriting the title of "Flash Knight LORD" in favor of his twin brother Leo. Believing Alchemy and Priests were more suited to protecting humanity rather than Knights, Sigma secretly allies with the Horrors, crafting powerful tools and attacks Makai Knights to brand them with the Seal of Destruction as part of a plan to assimilate them into a powerful Horror. Luring the Makai Order into his trap, Sigma nearly erases them alongside with the Horrors to bring about his [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans desired utopia]], letting nothing stand in the face of his goal for world peace.

* CompleteMonster: The BigBad of season 1, [[spoiler:the evil, power-hungry Barago, was [[FallenHero once a member of the Makai Knights who are dedicated to defend humanity from the demonic Horrors]]. Nearly every horrible thing in the series can be traced back to Barago. He made the innocent heroine of the series into a vessel for a demonic being known as Messiah, which would allow Messiah to consume both the girl and then the world (for nothing more than his personal gain). He murdered series hero Kouga's father, and TheLancer Rei's family to manipulate them further in the future. To prove he has no attachment to humanity or human beings, Barago cuts down a mirage of his own mother to prove that his family means less to him than power. Barago is willing to allow humanity be devoured for his own gain, and carelessly uses and discards whoever is in his way. When one hero begs Barago to remember why he once joined the order of the Makai Knights, Barago's only response is to coldly say he can't even remember.]]
