* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The idea of a masked serial killer who never speaks and has a very ''vaguely'' defined personality going up against a person with telepathic powers... your mind immediately leaps to the numerous possibilities. Maybe we could see them battling ''inside'' of Jason's head as he's forced to confront visages from his past, maybe the cast of previous films could have returned as visions Jason can't rid himself of. Maybe we could've seen more of his childhood, or learned some new horrible truth about his past, or hell, even just seen Jason with his mother, something none of these films have ''ever'' actually shown us... but instead all we get is some objects being thrown around, a dock breaking and ''a person being brought back from the dead'', pretty much just to be a Deus Ex Machina during the finale.

** Tina's mother is played by Susan Blu, who is best know for voicing [[Franchise/TheTransformers Arcee]]. Nearly two decades later, Creator/MichaelBay, the director of the ''Film/{{Transformers}}'' film franchise, would produce the [[Film/FridayThe13th2009 remake]].

Dr. Crews is listed as a Hate Sink, so unless you list unintentional reasons as for why he’s hated, then he does not qualify as this trope.

* TheScrappy: [[AssholeVictim Dr. Crews]] is easily the most hated character of the movie thanks in part to his {{Jerkass}} attitude towards Tina and her mother, as well as his manipulative treatment towards Tina by making her believe she’s a monster for her telekinesis while blanketing it as he’s trying to help her. * {{Narm}}:
** [[SignatureScene Awesome as the scene is]], the sleeping bag kill becomes much sillier when you realize she’s not only being whacked against a fairly small tree, but judging by the placements on where Jason hits her, she splits her head open after her feet make contact with the tree. [[WhatCouldHaveBeen Granted, she was supposed to be thrown against the tree six times]] [[ExecutiveMeddling before it got cut down]], but still.
** Zombified or not, the idea that Tina resurrects her dead dad to defeat Jason once and for all is still a ridiculous sight to behold. This isn't helped by the fact her dad simply looks like a regular man covered by dirt instead of the zombified look they originally planned on using.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* FranchiseOriginalSin: Having unlikable heel characters so the audience can root Jason on isn’t a new concept to this series. However, the previous films still made an effort to balance them out by showcasing likable teens, some of them as good friends even and gave them enough establishing character moments so their deaths made some impact on the viewers. This film takes the AssholeVictim concept and cranks it UpToEleven by making just about every character, even the teens who the audience is supposed to like (aside from Tina, Nick, Maddy, and Tina’s mom) as stupid, snarky, and mean spirited towards each other [[EightDeadlyWords to the point where it’s hard to care about anybody that dies in this movie]].

The fact that [[WordOfGod it was a request by Frank Mancuso Jr. to copy that film’s structure]] only adds to the criticism.
