* SoBadItsGood: How some fans feel about the film.

** "Racist" Carter Daniels as a whole. The writers really went out of their way to make him [[ObviouslyEvil as blatantly racist as possible]], and the whole thing just reeks of StrawmanPolitical. His first scene shows that he has swastika and SS tattoos, then he flat out calls George a racial slur, and the moment that leads to his death? He decides to ''[[TheKlan burn a fucking cross]]'' on George's lawn.

* FanonDiscontinuity:Not universal, but the theater scene made a good climax, especially for anyone fed up with all the unhappy endings, while the skeletal vision deaths at the ending provide for a somewhat questionable CallBack.

* UnpopularPopularCharacter: Hunt is a self-absorbed douche who, needless to say, isn't particularly loved in-universe (even by his own friends). All that said, he's one of the best sources of comic relief and is consistently hilarious, in addition to being played by one of the better actors, which has left him as something of an EnsembleDarkhorse

** Nadia's death is ruined when they cut to the body: an obvious dummy that someone surrounded with shredded pork and a fake wig.

* NightmareRetardant: The fourth movie had the status of having basically every death involve either over the top {{Gorn}} or just kind of dumb. This led to some thinking the deaths had turned from "Oh god that could happen to me." to "Haha, look at that dumb guy's guts."

* EndingAversion: Not universal, but the theater scene made a good climax, especially for anyone fed up with all the unhappy endings, while the skeletal vision deaths at the ending provide for a somewhat questionable CallBack. Long-time fans of the series who don't think much of this film also are particularly unhappy with the ending due to the FanDislikedExplanation implications that Death is behind the visions ForTheEvulz and how it fully reinforces the [[spoiler:KillEmAll nature of the franchise when the previous films gave the survivors at least some chance.]]

** The car wash almost-death can come across as ridiculous if you know that people have ridden through car washes on the tops of cars with no ill effects. ''Series/MythBusters'' proved you don't even need to hold on to the car. Hell, even Series/{{Jackass}} had someone riding the hood years before this, and only coming off colder for his troubles.

** The opening disaster is a ridiculous mess that gives physics the middle finger. First, a race car drives over a screwdriver, the tire pops, and then the car starts flipping and spiraling out of control. This sends tires flying into the stands hard enough to ''decapitate'' someone, followed by cars crashing into each-other and exploding, sending fiery debris and wreckage into the stands. Apparently the drivers don't bother trying to ''hit the brakes.'' As if that's not enough, the force of the explosions and impacts causes the stadium to start falling apart and crushing patrons.

* HarsherInHindsight: Hunt's death if you remember how [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Graeme_Baker_Pool_and_Spa_Safety_Act Abigail Taylor died.]]

* RetroactiveRecognition: Before getting into Death's list, Samantha used to be [[Film/LiarLiar a one-time neighbor of Jim Carrey who's well liked because she's got big jugs-- We mean, her boobs are huge!-- We mean, Carrey wants to squeeze'em!-- M-mamaaaa...]]

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: If the final result of the movie had been closer to the script, then the movie may have been more respected, even if the special effects still hadn't quite been figured out. Special mention goes to Johnathan's death, which makes far more sense, and is more "realistic" (in the realms of the franchise) in the script than it ever was in the movie.

* NightmareRetardant: The fourth movie had the status of having basically every death involve either over the top {{Gorn}} or just kind of dumb. This led to some thinking the deaths had turned from "Oh god that could happen to me." to "Haha, look at that dumb guy's guts." The exception is Samantha's death in the hair salon which is genuine [[NightmareFuel Nightmare]] and ParanoiaFuel. It almost looked like it belonged in a different movie.
