The latter is especially cathartic given how Cloud ''finally'' gets payback on the guy who made him a complete paranoir (whom no one believed) and brought despair to everyone with his poisoning gamib.t]]

* TearJerker:
** "Cloud's Strife" has a surprisingly brutal ending: Cloud swiftly destroys the ''Legend of Zelda'' 35th anniversary cake Sephiroth and Squirtle made for Zelda herself. But then Cloud realizes what he just did, and the horror in his expression speaks ''volumes''.
*** Sephiroth and Squirtle's reactions don't help much, either: Sephiroth cradles the destroyed cake, looking genuinely despondent. And Squirtle is practically ''on the verge of tears.'' You can't help feeling sorry for it...
** In "Hellraisers", poor Sora has to watch Arceus and the other Legendaries get taken by Sephiroth, and the distress and panic on his face is evident. Here's hoping Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, and Xerneas return in a future comic.
** Bayonetta can be seen in a depressed state in "[[https://www.woodenplankstudios.com/comic/robot-reboot-everyone-is-home/ Robot Reboot]]" eating [[HeartbreakAndIceCream ice cream]] after Simon finds out about her night-stand with Steve and dumps her for Dark Samus. She's not even wearing the MsFanservice costume she usually wears. Thankfully, Bayonetta decides that she has had enough of being depressed and revives Ryu, Ken, and Terry to serve as her personal harem and get back at Simon.
** Mii Gunner just can't catch a break, either. Not only did they have to wear the [[https://www.woodenplankstudios.com/comic/no-fun-sans-sans-everyone-is-home/ Sans costume for attention]], but they don't even get revived in "[[https://www.woodenplankstudios.com/comic/miiracle-cure-everyone-is-home/ Miiracle Cure]]" due to Incineroar and Ryu thoroughly believing that Mii Gunner is really Sans. Fortunately, this is undone in [[https://www.woodenplankstudios.com/comic/miis-aplentii-everyone-is-home/ the next comic]], where the two buff guys realize their mistake and bring the Gunner to the Mii Channel to revive them.
** "[[https://www.woodenplankstudios.com/comic/status-report-part-2-everyone-is-home/ Status Report - Part 2]]" sees Byleth incredibly distraught at being poisoned, venting her frustrations to Sothis after her death. It's a small comfort that her assassination was nothing personal.

** Sora arrives just in time to save Bowser and the rest of the dead fighters from Sephiroth, defeating him as well. The author also stated that "Sora at the Door-ah" was one of his favorite simply because how it was just perfect timing for Sora to be announced.
** Fed up with Samus and Master Chief's bickering on who's the most skilled pilot for the task of earning extra lives to resurrect Fox, Falco and Wolf, the Duck Hunt duck decides to yoink Samus' ArmCannon from her suit and fly out to do the job himself. When all's said and done, Samus and Chief are visibly tasting some HumblePie.
** Upon seeing his lord dead (and the Inklings' handsome faces), Bandana Waddle Dee goes on a solo quest [[VideoGame/KirbySuperStar across the entirety of Milky Way Wishes to summon NOVA]], and intimidates Marx (who gave [[MemeticBadass Kirby]] a challenge) into backing off when the latter tries to take Nova's power armed with an arsenal of weapons borrowed from the living fighters. It should be noted that among that arsenal is Sora's Keyblade, the Monado, and the Master Sword, implying the Waddle Dee is [[OnlyTheChosenMayWield worthy of wielding all three of them]].
** Upon learning from Sothis that everyone (not just her) was poisoned, Byleth deduces that Sephiroth must have a contingency for a plan this well-constructed. So rather than use the Divine Pulse to save everyone before the poisoning, she instead fakes her ''own'' death, constructing a body double, slipping it in among the corpses, and going into hiding, with a promise to return when her friends need her most and finally prove herself once and for all.
** It's soon revealed that Byleth still arranged for one [[JustForPun wild card]] to avoid a full-on death thanks to Pichu's [[LastChanceHitPoint Focus Band]]: Joker. Once he's revived thanks to the other Phantom Thieves, Joker and his pals put their game faces on, knowing that there's only one logical thing to do: [[HeelFaceBrainwashing take Sephiroth's heart]]. [[LeftTheBackgroundMusicOn Hit it, Lyn!]]
** A villainous example. Sephiroth himself has been very persistent about keeping his masterpiece in check, and while he does fail, he has one last trick up his sleeve. He's been building his own army in order to wipe out the Smash Bros., and it's in Endgame Enemies that showcases the seriousness of his plan.
** Just when things get dire and the Smash House has to deal with Sephiroth's army [[spoiler:and Meta Knight joining their side out of spite of being nerfed in the past]], Byleth appears [[spoiler:with her ''own'' cavalry, which features characters such as [[VideoGame/TombRaider Lara Croft]], [[VideoGame/NierAutomata 2B]], [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Sans]], [[VideoGame/{{Castlevania}} Alucard]], [[VideoGame/SuperMarioRPG Geno]]... just to name a few]].

However, he wants to keep his magnum opus in check, and when that failed, resorted to an army of video game villains to destroy Smash Mansion and all who live there. But Shadow Sephiroth reveals an even grimmer plan: use a dickbutt Sephiroth meteor to [[KillEmAll destroy the entire world:]] [[ForTheEvulz just because he thinks it will be the ultimate prank to end all pranks]]. This ultimately showcases Sephiroth's KnightOfCerebus status '''big time'''.

** Cloud finally telling eveyrone off for how he was being paranoid, both because he was right all along, and also because he's the last of the Smashers to be revived.

** "Everyone is Dead" features Sakurai trying to recruit fighters for the next fighter reveal whose name begins with an I, and everyone is unwilling to join. Come next trailer, and Isabelle is revealed without anyone getting hurt (or maybe he was referring to Incineroar...)
** In "Herodent", Sakurai is seen playing ''VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses'' in the background. A couple months later, Byleth would end up joining Smash.

** Pyra and Mythra surviving Sephiroth's poisoning due to him not taking Blade physiology into account becomes this after ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles3'', [[spoiler:where Nia, an original generation Flesh-Eater Blade, survives an assassination attempt by D on account of the latter not realizing that Blades can only be truly killed by damaging their Core Crystals (whereas Agneans with Blade traits can be killed like any other human)]].

* MemeticMutation: Fans joke that Cloud is going scream "[[IWarnedYou I TOLD YOU SO!]]" at everyone after being revived for not believing him when he warned them that Sephiroth was faking his good-guy act [[TheCassandra and dismissed him as paranoid]], and because of this they speculate that the rest of the fighters are going to revive Cloud last so they won't have to deal with him until a while. And yes, Cloud is the final fighter that needs to be revived. In fact the final panel of his revival has him going around telling ''everyone'' "I told you!"

* NightmareFuel: In "Robot Reboot", after [[Franchise/MegaMan Dr. Light fixes up Mega Man by swapping his head for another]], Kirby gets an idea in his little pink head. This prompts him to travel to the Mushroom Kingdom and graphically sever a penguin's head offscreen to try and replicate the strategy for King Dedede, with blood still on his smiling face and horrified expressions on several other characters.
