* FaceOfTheBand: The Empress is front and center on the game's cover art, and is the character featured most in the game's official art, aside from Amica. The Empress also became a guest DLC character in ''VideoGame/BlasterMasterZero2''.

* TierInducedScrappy: Every playable character suffers this for a different degree, sometimes even related to a specific contract (example: Ice Shinobi's lack of dodge during the dash), others for their cons, and a couple over a gimmick that almost encourages the usage of macros to be efficient enough (Oracle and Witch).
** The Empress with her Long Sword moveset falls into the lowest tier of the bunch thanks to the lack of a dodge or sheer DPS / mobility like the Shinobi, and no ability to heal herself without items like the Warrior or Witch. With no specialty besides her Burn debuffs, this leaves her in the dust of the other classes and arguably the hardest to play solo given the need to memorize enemy patterns thoroughly. If she equips her Small Sword set, however, she can mitigate this with the heightened DPS / mobility and the superarmor on her lunge attack to serve as an impromptu dodge giving her surprising survivability (albeit still inferior to the Shinobi).
** The Warrior falters in solo play because his damage output and shield don't mean a damn thing when his lack of mobility and attack range will inevitably result in cheap hits and a cripplingly difficult time trying to complete certain mission objectives; his support role as [[DamagerHealerTank a sheer tank]] is valuable online by comparison.
** The Witch has to rely on rapid button combination, which can take a seasoned player up to five seconds to fully power a spell, to be allowed to deal significant damage and can easily be slain by enemies of her same level in one or two hits. However her ability to heal the entire group is most valuable in online and always accessible.
** The Bandit is perhaps the most infamous example: The quests where you fight the Bandit has him using clones and daggers that inflicts Confusion, heavily damaging dashes and lunges, Paralyzing shock bombs, healing himself by randomly pulling a fruit, unleashing a barrage of flames, or tossing a huge bomb that covers a large area, all of these dealing absurd damage and the boss version of Bandit enduring absurd punishment. Then comes his playable version, which does retain some moves but otherwise is heavily powered down, fragile, and reliant on luck to gather items to use for his useful moves.

Whereas Gunvolt is loosely inspired by ''Zero'' and ''ZX'' in theme and gameplay, ''Dragon: Marked for Death'' looks, plays, and feels like a ''Zero'' or ''ZX'' game if you replaced all of the futuristic elements and PowerCopying with medieval fantasy and multiple character classes.
