* TearJerker: It can be a bit heartbreaking to hear Winnie-the-Pooh and Tigger singing about how the viewer will [[GrowingUpSucks outgrow them]] and perhaps forget them - a concept that Disney would concretly explore a few decades later in ''Film/ChristopherRobin'' and on a smaller scale, ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII''.

* HarsherInHindsight: Michelangelo being among those who were trying to get through to Michael, given another Mikey's voice actor, Creator/KirbyMorrow, who voiced him on ''Series/NinjaTurtlesTheNextMutation'', died due to his own substance abuse.

It's too bad this coincided with a preachy special about a teenager with drug problems. And even then, they had to make this a FakeCrossover by having the characters come to life from merchandise items, ''Toy Story'' style, rather than admitting the characters were themselves.
* UnexpectedCharacter: For contemporary viewers, Series/{{Alf}}, given that his live-action sitcom is far better known than the AnimatedAdaptation which this special based his appearance on.

** Including Series/{{Alf}} also instantly dates the special, since he didn't exactly prove to have the shelf-life of the other characters involved in it.

* {{Anvilicious}}: There is nothing in the world more anvilicious than this special, except possibly flashing ''' "[[DrugsAreBad DRUGS ARE BAD FOR YOU]]" ''' for half an hour. It actually tries to drop multiple anvils at once: the anti-drug one, the one about talking to others if you know someone's on drugs and/or committing crimes because of drugs, and [[ParentalBonus one for the parents about watching your children like hawks for any sign of deviance]]. While the third is pretty groan-inducing as well, the Corey subplot actually makes the good point that confronting problems like this directly is the best way to keep a family unit healthy, so [[AnAesop this one]] usually gets the fewest complaints.

** [[WesternAnimation/AlvinAndTheChipmunks Simon]] calling marijuana "an unlawful substance", considering that marijuana can be prescribed for medicinal purposes, and Canada and several US States have legalized it (although to be fair it would still be illegal for Michael to buy, as he is a minor).

** The tactics and arguments used in the special are ''very'' dated to the early days of the War on Drugs. TheAggressiveDrugDealer, MarijuanaIsLSD, "Just Say No", and the fact that the only drug other than crack cocaine mentioned is marijuana all put it right in the early 90s.

** [[VideoGame/NickelodeonAllStarBrawl This wouldn't be the last time]] ComicStrip/{{Garfield}} and [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987 Michelangelo]] would encounter in a crossover.

* FoeYay: Smoke is too touchy-feely with Michael sometimes.

* AccidentalAesop: On ''Series/{{Last Week Tonight|WithJohnOliver}}'', Creator/JohnOliver played a portion of ''Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue'' (as a depiction of how much of an Anti-Drug fervor we were in the 80s and 90s) before mentioning this:

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: As noted above, while most of the intended preaching of the special is just groan-inducing, the Corey subplot is actually handled very well and is a shockingly realistic portrayal (compared to the rest of it) of a younger sibling trying to figure out how to help her older sibling with the self-destructive behavior he's exhibiting... and making the right call of trying to confront the problem head-on, rather than beating around the bush or letting it fester.

** Now that Creator/{{Disney}} owns Franchise/TheMuppets, ''{{WesternAnimation/Muppet Babies|1984}}'' characters alongside ''{{WesternAnimation/DuckTales|1987}}'' and ''Franchise/WinnieThePooh'' characters seems quite commonplace rather than part of a massive crossover event. Especially after Disney rebooted ''{{WesternAnimation/DuckTales|2017}}'', AND ''{{WesternAnimation/Muppet Babies|2018}}''.

** Now that Creator/{{Disney}} owns Franchise/TheMuppets, seeing ''{{WesternAnimation/Muppet Babies|1984}}'' characters interacting with ''{{WesternAnimation/DuckTales|1987}}'' and ''Franchise/WinnieThePooh'' characters seems more commonplace rather than a massive crossover event. Especially after Disney rebooted ''{{WesternAnimation/DuckTales|2017}}'', AND ''{{WesternAnimation/Muppet Babies|2018}}''.

* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: It does feel like someone had to have been on drugs to come up with something this insane. Simon from ''WesternAnimation/AlvinAndTheChipmunks'' explaining what marijuana on its own is a little mind-bending, and the dream sequence as Mikey bottoms out is pretty psychedelic.
