** In the early 90s, the cartoon was a standard "Just Say No" [=PSA=]. Nowadays, with greater understanding of the dubious (at best) effectiveness of these messages, on top of the growing unpopularity of the War on Drugs, the characters who preach to Mikey and yell at him over his use of pot come across as arrogant and holier-than-thou than helpful.
** Marijuana has not only since been legalized in many states (mostly for medical purposes but sometimes recreational), but it's been found to not be the life-destroying drug that groups like D.A.R.E. have hyped it up as, and in fact it's status as a controlled substance has been found to be rooted in racism. The fact the film portrays every kid who does pot even once as transforming into a delinquent doesn't help matters. [[DownplayedTrope That being said]], Michael is still too young to legally take weed unless he had a prescription for it.

** Bugs uses a time machine in the middle of the story. In ''WesternAnimation/TheLooneyTunesShow'', he's a ScienceHero who gets involved in a time travel plot.

** Michael's voice actor, Creator/JasonMarsden, would later voice Myron in ''VideoGame/Fallout2'', an immoral TeenGenius who invented a very harmful drug specifically designed to be addictive. Guess he didn't learn to say no to drugs after all.
** This wouldn't be the last absurdly huge cartoon crossover that Pooh would be involved in, whether [[WebVideo/PoohsAdventures fan-made]] or [[Film/ChipNDaleRescueRangers2022 Disney-produced]].
** The special was released on April 21. You know, the day after [[FourTwentyBlazeIt 4/20]].
** Now that Creator/{{Disney}} owns Franchise/TheMuppets, seeing ''{{WesternAnimation/Muppet Babies|1984}}'' characters alongside ''{{WesternAnimation/DuckTales|1987}}'' and ''Franchise/WinnieThePooh'' characters seems quite commonplace rather than part of a massive crossover event. Especially after Disney rebooted ''{{WesternAnimation/DuckTales|2017}}'', AND ''{{WesternAnimation/Muppet Babies|2018}}''.
** Likewise, ComicStrip/{{Garfield}} and [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987 Michelangelo]] appearing together. They would have [[https://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2014/11/tmnt-magazine-welsh-7.html a smaller reunion]] two years later, then their respective properties were acquired by Creator/ParamountGlobal, who had them meet each other again in [[VideoGame/NickelodeonAllStarBrawl another huge cartoon crossover]].
** Michelangelo and [[WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters Slimer]] meeting up here as well; during the decade when Creator/IDWPublishing held the license to ''Franchise/{{Ghostbusters}}'' comics, they arranged two canonical crossovers between ''ComicBook/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesIDW'' and ''ComicBook/GhostbustersIDWComics''. The one Turtle that Slimer paid attention to during his brief cameo in the first storyline? Mikey.

** The tactics and arguments used in the special are ''very'' dated to the early days of UsefulNotes/TheWarOnDrugs . TheAggressiveDrugDealer, MarijuanaIsLSD, "Just Say No", and the fact that the only drug other than crack cocaine mentioned is marijuana all put it right in the early 90s. In the [=21st=] century, the complete lack of discussion of heroin or other opiates feels almost mind-boggling (and it's been occasionally noted that a lot of the imagery and even the heavy-handedness of the special would probably work better and feel more appropriate in the context of opiate addiction).
** Not to mention, marijuana has now become legal in numerous jurisdictions across the U.S., and many communities have stopped fervently policing the use of weed. Mikey would probably get in trouble for being an underage user.
