** Bubsy is a OneHitPointWonder in the first, and, unlike [[Franchise/SonicTheHedghog Sonic,]] or [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario,]] he doesn't have any power-ups or items that can allow him to take more the hit. This is especially problematic considering his hitbox is a fair amount larger than Sonic or Mario's, and oftentimes [[EverythingIsTryingToKillYou even seemingly innocuous objects are fatal to touch.]]

** Arnold the Armadillo's bonus levels in the second game. He must be guided through a truck's engine from top to bottom, flipping switches that guide him to the right path. The fans that control his movement are either too powerful or barely responsive which make for an aggravating experience. Only the middle exit will reward the time bonus; it's negated if he exits over a wheel.

** ''Bubsy II'' addresses Bubsy being a OneHitPointWonder from the first game. Bubsy can take damage twice before dying from a third hit. He can also collect bandages which restore his health. Some hazards can still kill Bubsy immediately, though.
** ''Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back'', fixes some of the issues that known critics like WebVideo/JonTron and WebVideo/SomeCallMeJohnny have with the first two games. For instance, the field of view has been greatly expanded so players have an easier time seeing what's around Bubsy, Bubsy's running speed has been reduced significantly to prevent him from running into obstacles that players wouldn't have a chance to react to in the [[FakeDifficulty original games]], and Bubsy even less of a OneHitPointWonder.
** ''Bubsy: Paws on Fire'' has been announced to have over 100 levels in it and four different characters to play as, which was done in response to criticism of the very short length of ''The Woolies Strike Back''.

* TheWoobie: Most notably Arnold, the one character that hates Bubsy, thus making him relatable, spends the entire episode [[ButtMonkey being the subject of all the slapstick]] in the form of being tortured by Bubsy's bratty niece and nephew, crashing through a roof, getting beaten over the head, and getting electrocuted. He apparently suffers from some sort of post-traumatic stress due to trucks that run over his race, killing them, and none of the punishment he receives is warranted to any degree. He deserves absolutely none of it and it makes the show almost cringeworthy to watch this poor character go through such a mess.

** It reached depressing levels when Bubsy was put onto Steam. This series was once in the running to become the FlagshipFranchise of a major gaming company. Now it has to [[SelfDeprecation insult itself and bank on its own tattered reputation just to get its first two games onto Steam Greenlight]][[note]] Ironically, [[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog the very franchise that "inspired" Bubsy]] ended up doing that as well, albeit as an attempt to ''repair'' such a tattered reputation (as opposed to merely using it) with much greater success[[/note]]. And to top it all off, it didn't even get a proper port but instead it got a ROM emulation.

** ''Bubsy II'' suffered from the developers seemingly not having any clear idea what they were going for, resulting in level designs and themes that felt derivative of other popular franchises, and a
bad victim case of GameplayRoulette with none of the disease known as Sequelitis, ''Bubsy'' did okay in gameplay styles feeling properly developed. Add to that mediocre graphics and the first game, but the second game nearly killed it, with running shockingly poorly for console standards of the era, and the result is something that feels more akin to a half-finished tech demo than an actual game.
**
''Fractured Furry Tales'' was criticized for its forgettable level designs, massive amounts of FakeDifficulty, and somehow being considered as bad, if not even worse. Then the least graphically impressive of the pure 2D entries despite being released on the UsefulNotes/AtariJaguar.
**
''Bubsy 3D'' was where the wheels fell off completely, with its incredibly clunky early 3D platformer design, and the most annoying aspects of Bubsy's personality being turned up to the point where they became regarded as one of the worst video games of all time, leaving the franchise dead for the next two decades.near-unbearable.
