That said there are a few differences from the previous show; along with the old RoguesGallery, a few new villains are showcased. The girls now go to an elementary school rather than kindergarten (though oddly Ms. Keane works there too), the old telephone is replaced by a cell phone (modern age and all) and the girls seems to have taken more of a interest in things such as boy bands and roller derbies.

The story is still the same as always: Professor Utonium was testing the theory of Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice to see if he could make the perfect little girls. He accidentally smashes a container of Chemical X which pours into the vats that indeed does create said girls. Only in this case, they're imbue with superpowers. Thus Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup use said powers to protect the city of Townsville from crime, monsters, the supernatural and any other forces of evil.

Announced in 2014 in lieu with the brief revival of the [[ComicBook/ThePowerpuffGirls series comic book line]]. This version is noticeable in that series creator, Creator/CraigMcCracken, is not involved this time due to working at Disney on ''WestenAnimation/WanderOverYonder''. As well as not having the original voice actresses (Cathy Cavadini, Creator/TaraStrong and Creator/ElizabethDaily) to return to voice the girls roles despite a good number of the original cast retaining their roles.
