* FlameOfLife: Aura, which is life energy, can be represented via Aura Sense as a flame.

** Tagg wipes out an entire convoy of Cipher Peons during the Orre Arc as a message. However, the consequences of that choice end up following him and the rest of the J-Team for years afterwards as it convinces Echo to go through with her plans to try turning humans and mons into one species, and later on Lucius' murder by Abel and a former Cipher Peon whose friend was among those Tagg killed.

** The Shadowlanders, who existed concurrently with the Metagross as small-name rivals until an attack on the latter where Slateport now stands led to the defeat of their leader and subsequent dissolution, though a few remnants still stuck around.

** Fool has a moment like this after she regains her memories and is mentally confronted with the murders of people and Pokemon that she was directly responsible for.

* LongRunners: As of February 7, 2021, ''WAAPT'' has been an active RP for more than than a decade.

** Colton's Lucario is another one-man example, with his [[SplitPersonality|split personalities]] of Sean, D.C. and Lucario respectively being Nice, Mean and In Between.

* LeftHanging: The PMD-R arc abruptly ended by leaking into Kanjoh-2 due to most of the playerbase losing motivation, though there have been attempts to properly fill the gaps.

** The Angela region is apparently run by large corporations, Pokefutures formely being one of them.

** Channah's biological father is responsible alongside his second wife for corrupting her twin brothrt Ira, and as a result directly led to her suffering in the form of him murdering her mons before killing himself, but don't appear in the flesh during the Silent Hill miniarc.

** Subverted when Ghetsis orders Kyurem to freeze everyone to death.
** Also subverted when Jane gets frozen. She gets melted out, but she ends up with a cold.

** A common thing to happen to Pokemon on April Fools Day.
** Also the result of any Pokemon attaching a Human -> Pokemon armband to their body or being infected with a reverse weremon curse.

* LeftTheBackgroundMusicOn: Tagg's iPhokex is alive and plays various tracks, expanding from just the Pokémon games to encompass just about everything. It has even become a plot point at times.

** Umbra's dream where he's a pimp and Ammy and Lina are two of his [[DoubleEntendre "workers"]] is PlayedForLaughs before it turns into a nightmare where Duolis shows up and reams him for first pimping them out, and then for his past as the Ghost Lord of Spectra.

** Kirk learns this firsthand when he ends up in Kalos and gets his meal stolen by a Hydreigon, who mocks him about being a weak "pet" unfit for wild life.

** Hundreds of millenia before the rise of humanity, the dominant species were the Metagross and Alakazam, who created rival civilizations. Following their activation of the Mt. Pyre supervolcano, which the weather trio sacrificed their lives to prevent from fully erupting, the legendaries wiped both civilizations from the face of the earth for their arrogance. Many artifacts and ruins still remain, and Chrome and Grodus, Lina and Nico's Metagross, happen to be survivors of the original Metagross civilization.

** Tagg ends up starting the Keystone arc by taking Annoski's Keystone to the spot it needs to be for him to revive, on top of it having fed on his emotions for the past several mons.

** Tagg has one following the Orre arc after drinking himself unconscious at Kat's wedding where Tokarev shows up to mock him for his failures.

** The group fly off to Sandgem town to ask Professor Rowan some questions, but after the others have already left, Daisy remembers that she doesn't have a flying Pokemon with her. When the others arrive at the lab, Daisy suddenly shows up with no explaination of how she got there. No one seems to notice.

** Pretty much every evil aspect faced by the J-Team during the mindscape miniarc has one or more of these.

** Mutants: Kim and Lily got their powers via being transformed by human to Pokémon armbands
** Race: Their powers have a genetic basis.

** A sweeter form of it though with the BreatherArc foreshadowings during the AU.

** Fool ends up beating a poacher to death this way during the OI Arc, which Tagg basically allows due to his own hatred of poachers and Mezzo being horrified.

** In their final confrontation in the Orre arc, Odin beats Chrome so hard with his PoweredArmor that the latter's Metagros armor plating actually cracks.
* NotAllowedToGrowUp: Averted, the human and Pokémon characters alike have aged throughout the course of the RP due to it being done in semi-real time, with birthdays being acknowledged and characters changing as they age.

* FisherKingdom: Type 2. The two PMD universes will turn any human who enters them into a Pokémon of some kind.

** The purge of the Obscurics in Sinnoh and other regions is an analogue to the Japanese displacement of the Emishi and Ainu peoples.

** Due to the Seven Jerk Dragons's part in trying to usurp the legendaries and more or less genociding humanity in the PMD-B timeline, Dragon types in general are often treated as second class citizens outside of Hoenn, which is more or less persona non grata due to other mons seeing it as merely a continuation of the Seven Jerk Dragons's rule due to a quirk of the mon bombs rendering most transfigured humans Dragon types.

* IWillFindYou: Wolf and DS make this promise to each other just before Dialga alters the timeline.

** Helios has his own, except with soot after [[KillItWithFire incinerating Lanius' Praetorian Guard with the technique that he and Tagg accidently invented during the GC.]]

** The entire PEFE flashback where Tagg, Tracer, and Silent had to defend themselves from a bunch of Swablu and Altaria poachers in Hoenn and end up setting their Pokemon on them.
** AU!Fool horribly mauling a trainer and his Pokemon by ordering her Pokemon to ''tear him to shreds''.

** Odin gets [[JustDesserts eaten alive by Ilya]] after she's freed from her mind control.

** A museum in Vermillion having the very same washing machine used as a space tunnel in Tracer's house.
** A museum in Opelucid containing the skull of Kaijudreigon's main head on display.

** Anom and Jane switched between TheHero and TheLancer depending on the situation.

** Happened three times from Sinnoh to Unova-1, first with Jane and Palkia, the second time with DS and Artemis and the third with Daisy and Pink. A weird variation of this also seemed to happen between Jane and Entei.
** Happens yet again with Anom and Wolf, due to a Manaphy. Unlike the other examples, it's played as a more serious major plot point rather than a brief joke, and lasted for pretty much the whole Oblivia arc.
** This later happened in Kalos when a particularly "playful" Obscuric being decided to swap Mezzo and Eskay's minds. This ended up causing a small amount of chaos, especially when the fix turned out to be a kiss.

* FreeRangeChildren: Pretty much all of the characters that are or were minors starting out would count as this. Bonus points go to Amber and Remy for not even being in the double digits when they started.

** This happened far more often than it needed to inside Twist Mountain. Wolf and Pentigan still suffered from this after leaving the mountain for a few days before eventually being returned to normal.
** Pentigan's amulet has this function. At one point during the OI arc, he ended up accidentally losing it and leaving himself, Anom and Fool stuck as the opposite genders.

* GondorCallsForAid: Tangent and Tagg's Xatu manage to gather a large amount of peoplemons that the J-Team has helped in order to help prevent Cipher from taking Gateon Port at the climax of the Orre arc.

** Happens again when Latias begins searching for Pentigan's lost GenderBender amulet so he, Anom and Fool can be returned to normal. This eventually leads to the wild Pokémon searching for a non-existant Soul Dew because they think Latias will reward them with a lifetime's supply of Oran Berries if they can help her find it.

** Cipher serves as one for the entire RP in general, often acting through proxies instead of fighting the J-Team directly, having a hand in the backstories of several characters, and even created 'M which antagonized the J-Team during the Unova arc. For Orre, they end up becoming the BigBad of the arc.

** The Seven Jerk Dragons serve as this for the PMD-R arc. While they don't make a direct appearance, their actions are directly responsible for the state of PMD-B when J-Team members visit it.

** AU Sinnoh, post-Distortion.

** Tagg and the others end up traveling even farther north in order to defeat Annoski at the Cathedral.

** Lyuri did this to Vrang as retribution for him ordering his Pokémon to use Thunder Wave on her, Sakura helped and Des approved.

Anom ended up DeaderThanDead, until the legendary Pokémon figured out how to [[BackFromTheDead bring him back after a week]].

** The legendaries accidentally destroying the Sky Fortress didn't sit well with its wild Pokemon population.
** The main group gets this so badly at one point that Pokepan hotels start denying them service, starting with Hoenn.

* IdenticalStranger: Wolf and N look almost exactly alike. When they briefly met in Almia, Wolf didn't notice the resemblance at first. He was a bit creeped out by it once it was pointed out.

* IfYoureSoEvilEatThisKitten: Mezzo challenged A to kill a Patrat during the AU arc. A refused to go through with it.

** Another had by Crow during the Orre Arc, imagining that Titan {{Heel Face Turn}}ed and fixed a lot of problems the J-Team was going through

** Lanius' forces strung up children on crosses as well during the Battle of Cellafron.

** AU!Tagg has one of these in the PMD-B timeline, which likely influenced his decision to entomb himself in his vault with the Adamant Orb.

* InSeriesNickname: The group of trainers eventually ends up being called "The J-Team" by fans that they've amassed due to Jane seeming like the leader to outsiders, even if it lacks a true leader.
