To coincide with the 2007 ''Film/{{Transformers}}'' movie, ''Transformers: The Game'' was released for PC and home consoles in June 2007. It is a ThirdPersonShooter with additional focus on melee combat and driving. The game's story, which focuses on the retrieval of the Allspark, is divided into two campaigns: one for the Autobots, and one for the Decepticons. The Autobot campaign closely follows the overall plot of the movie, while the Decepticon campaign diverges from the film's plot starting with the end of the second chapter.

** The game's coding includes mentions of finishers, more attacks, an electrocution attack for the forklift drones, and even unlockable characters of some sort[[note]]Unclear if they were meant for in-game or just a gallery[[/note]]. The PC version's [=ReadMe=] file also mentions the ability to unlock arenas by beating those unlocked after the main story, but in the final game there's only one arena for each side.
** Ratchet, Brawl and Bonecrusher have animations and attributes, meaning they can made playable - though as they are unfinished, their camerawork and models lack polish, with Ratchet in particular being largely unplayable.
** There are also several unused levels, such as the famous Hoover Dam exterior which was cut for time constraits. One version of "The Suburbs" played with Blackout and an unfinished level where you go around Tranquility as Bumblebee and throw around giant donuts can still be accessed in the PC version with some editing, though they have nothing of note within them.

* GuideDangIt: It ''is'' possible to switch between characters in a level, but it's so unintuitive that it's hard to tell if it's even intentional. If you replay (& beat) a mission that's played as someone else and then die in free-roam after that, the game loads the character the last mission was played as.

Added DiffLines:

* MythologyGag: While the mission was removed with the Hoover Dam Exterior, according to the text files one mission there would have involved [[WesternAnimation/TheTransformers Optimus and Megatron duking it out on top of it]].
