The game begins with Jimmy presenting his book report on his Jet Fusion novel with his latest invention, the Virtual World Reproduction Machine. Unfortunately, the machine backfires and Retroville's reality is altered to look just like the novel, and Professor Calamitous has captured Jet Fusion himself. It's up to Jimmy to traverse the altered Retroville to defeat his transformed friends and defeat Calamitous, in order to save his home.

Both games follow the same plot, but with different alterations. In the console versions, Jimmy has to traverse three different parts to each of the four altered areas and obtain the three golden idols from the game's bosses, which happens to be his transformed friends. The Game Boy Advance version has a slightly altered system where Jimmy must collect three different parts -- one from each part of every area -- which in turn will unlock a minigame in order to access the boss. Jet is also not captured in this version and provides assistance for Jimmy by updating his maps and location, and presenting new upgrades.

* AstralFinale: The final battle is set in Calamitous's space station hovering over Earth.

* RuleOfThree: In the GBA version, Jimmy has to collect three items from each of the three main locations of each area in order to construct the invention needed to access a minigame the player needs to complete to move on to the boss.

* AdaptationalBadass: [[AdaptationalWimp In contrast to the console game]], which leaved Jet Fusion a BadassInDistress for 90% of the time, the Gameboy Advance port has Jet play a more active role, from giving Jimmy inventions he needs to progress, to fighting alongside Jimmy for the FinalBoss.
* AdaptationDeviation: The overall plot of the game greatly deviates from the episode it's based on: from Jimmy turning the world into a ''Jet Fusion'' movie, to all the levels being mostly original levels.

* InNameOnly: While it retains most of the major characters and keeps true to the spirit of the source series, the actual plot of the game has almost nothing to do with the episode it's supposedly based on. Rather than being about Jimmy meeting a super spy and living out his fantasy of participating in one of his adventures, the game is about Jimmy accidentally turning the entire world into a clone of his Jet Fusion book.

In both the episode and the game, Jet Fusion is a real secret agent whose action movie star career is also a cover for his spy activities.

Not even close, it doesn't follow the original premise in any capacity.

* AdaptationExpansion: The video game is basically an extended version of the original episode.
