** Mary Jane Randy's name is derived from Mary Jane Watson, Franchise/SpiderMan's LoveInterest (as well as "Mary Jane" also being a word used to refer to marijuana), but his outfit is based on [[Characters/BatmanPoisonIvy Poison Ivy]].

** Played straight with "Don King Butters". Cartman intended Butters to dress up like boxing promoter Don King, but the latter didn't know who he was and thought it was just a generic Asian name.

* Assassins, who don't take hits well at all, but make up for it with absurd speed and power.

* GenderNeutralWriting: Around halfway through the story, the kids of South Park start referring to the New Kid in gender neutral pronouns when they start to suspect they might not actually be a boy.

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: The girls (and the adult women like Liane, Classi, Mayor [=McDaniels=] and Sharon) are just as prone to being beat as the boys. Nelly has a quote that also sums up the situation pretty well, but in reverse.

* ImprobableWeaponUser: Alongside more traditional weapon choices such as swords, knifes, axes, broken glass bottles, bombs, guns, bows and arrows, bare fists, kicks, slaps etc., other characters fight with more bizarre weapon choices, such as Mayor [=McDaniels=] (who throws jars of marijuana and cocaine), Mr. Slave Executioner (who hits enemies with a large dildo), President Garrison (whose WeaponOfChoice is the flag of the United States) and Towelie (who hits enemies with a hookah), just to name a few.

* ImmuneToMindControl: All non-living units -- like the Robot Vacuum, Alien Drone, and Thunderbird -- cannot be mind controlled.

Also, the death animations for some of the characters (Shaman Token, Inuit Kenny, Poseidon Stan, Angel Wendy etc.) don't look like a very pleasant experience, with their weapons hitting them in the face. For most of the kids, it appears that they're just ''pretending'' to die, but Inuit Kenny unambiguously gets killed in battle, with his tusk stabbing him in the face.

*** Space Warrior Token, who looks like a Klingon, and Commander Hat (AKA Spock Garrison) are both references to ''Franchise/StarTrek''.

** When Token calls Cartman out on pretending to be a Buddhist monk, Cartman points out that white people are allowed to play Asians.

* AddictionPowered: Towelie smokes a bong as soon as he's deployed, and it's implied this is where his ability (slowing down opponents around him) comes from.

* AntiMagic:
** Power Bind stops the charge of all enemies with a charge ability for some seconds.
** Hercules Clyde permanently stops the charge of the enemy he hit first.
** Youth Pastor Craig prevents the New Kid from casting any spells for some seconds.
** Mayor [=McDaniels=] resets and stops the charge of all enemies with a charge ability for some seconds. She used to do the first thing only until she received a buff in an update.
* AsianBuckTeeth: Don King Butters wears giant buck teeth as part of his yellowface.
* AttackDrone: The Alien Drone, a standard drone repurposed as a weapon.

* TheBusCameBack: [=ManBearPig=], Scuzzlebutt, Starvin' Marvin, and Terrance Mephesto all make their return to the series after a long disappearance.
* CannibalismSuperpower: The Woodland Critters' charged ability has them kill the nearest ally unit and absorbing their health and attack.
* CastFromHitPoints: Henrietta sacrifices a small portion of her health to revive her fellow Goth Kids when they die, though she can't use this to revive herself, and she can't die from doing so, either.

* CowboysAndIndians: All parts of the story but the Fantasy one consist of the kids playing this. More specifically, the Adventure set is cowboys vs. indians (with some pirates mixed in), the Sci-Fi set is aliens vs. robots, the Mystical set is Jews vs. Christians (with a little bit of everything mixed in, most notably Myth/ClassicalMythology), and the Superheroes set is Superheroes vs. Supervillains.

* TheDragonslayer: Red's Fantasy set card is Dragonslayer Red, whose card art depicts her having just decapitated a dragon with a huge battle axe. And if one of her quotes is any indication, she ''eats'' them too.
* DrawAggro:
** StoneWall Zen Cartman has a charge ability that lets him do this to all enemies close to him for a limited time.
** Swashbuckler Red's Warcry has her attract all enemies to her in a large radius for 10 seconds.
** Mary Jane Randy's ability has him place a potted plant that attracts all enemies towards it every few seconds until it's destroyed.

* FallenAngel: Dark Angel Red is this given her dark color scheme, mentioning praising Satan in her quotes, and her {{Necromancer}} abilities.

* FauxbaFett: Bounty Hunter Kyle wears a face-concealing helmet that has a T-shaped visor in his card art, flies with a jetpack ([[ImprovisedJetPack made from a leafblower]]), uses a blaster as a weapon, and one of his idle quotes is "Nothing compared to Sarlacc!". Given that the premise of the game is a bunch of kids playing dress up, it's most likely a deliberate ShoutOut in universe.
* FlyingMook: All of the themes have characters that are airbone. These units can only be harmed by spells, rangers, or other flying units.
* FoodBasedSuperpowers: Captain Diabetes' charged ability has him eat massive amounts of sugar in order to double his health and attack power for eight seconds, which is based off of what he does during his "High-Fructose Death Wave" [[LimitBreak Ultimate Power Move]] in ''VideoGame/SouthParkTheFracturedButWhole''.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The caption for the Manbearpig card is "HOLY SHIT IT'S REAL!" [[spoiler:The season 22 episode "Time to Get Cereal", released about a year after the game, confirms that yes, Manbearpig ''is'' real in the show itself.]]

* HookHand: Hookhand Clyde has two hook hands.
* HotWitch: Sorceress Liane plays off Liane's sexual persona by dressing her up as a witch in a leotard and high lacy stockings, with a phallus at the end of her broomstick. To top it off, after she's defeated, she turns everybody around her into a cock (that is, a rooster).

* NoSell: Non-living units like the Robot Vacuum, Alien Drone, and Thunderbird cannot be poisoned, mind controlled, or transformed. Token's Superhero persona, Tupperware, as well as the Chaos Hamsters, are also immune to those status effects along with all other status effects, character abilities, and spell cards.

* OneHitKill: Unholy Combustion instantly kills the enemy that was targeted by it, while Inuit Kenny does the same to whoever killed him. Later updates [[{{Nerf}} nerfed]] these cards so that instead of instantly killing the target, they inflict a high amount of damage to them, with the chances of instantly killing them becoming higher each time the cards are leveld up.

* PirateGirl: Captain Wendy, Buccaneer Bebe, and Swashbuckler Red--the girls' Adventure set personas.
* PremiumCurrency: The standard currency, "Cartman Coins," can be acquired in bulk by winning matches. The premium currency is a form of in-game Cash, which you only get in measly amounts, but can be spent on more valuable things, like entire card packs, extra chances at Challenge Mode, or the Premium Battle Pass that scores you extra rewards from the Battle Pass. PVP tickets aren't as valuable as Cash, but are slightly more valuable than Coins as they can purchase outfits and special card packs.

** After being scrapped as a playable character in ''The Fractured But Whole'', Dr. Timothy makes his first playable appearance in this game.

By the seventh tap onwards, his grunts of annoyance are almost exaggerated and he slams his fist on his desk, shouting "Quit it!" at the player.
** Averted with "Don King Butters" in the [[PlayerVersusPlayer [=PvP=]]] card shop, who goes "ow!" when tapped on but otherwise doesn't react.
