* EvilKnockoff: During the [[spoiler:Heart Dimension route in Heart Dimension H]], the [=CPUs=] are forced to fight against several replicas of themselves. They are so weak and half-baked that their personalities are straight up [[FlatCharacter stereotypes]]: Neptune's a CloudCuckoolander who just spouts gibberish, Noire's only line is an [[EvilLaugh Evil]] NoblewomansLaugh, Blanc's a berserker who can only speak in roars, and Vert's a brainless bimbo.

* DudeNotFunny: After defeating [[spoiler:Kurome's]] {{Evil Knockoff}}s of the [=CPUs=], Neptune boasts that fakes standing no chance against the originals is common game logic... within earshot of [[spoiler:Uzume, who they've recently learned is the embodiment of Kurome's detached conscience. After seeing her reaction and getting chewed by Noire, Neptune sheepishly apologizes. Fortunately, Uzume didn't take it too personally.]]

* MindControlEyes: [[spoiler:The BrainwashedAndCrazy [=HDD=] [=CPUs=] have their eye color dulled and their power-symbol pupils glow red.]]

* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: Both Neptunes separately come up with the idea of naming the BigBad [[spoiler:Kurome Ankokuboshi]].

** In the Heartdimension Neptunia H story, despite Hyperdimension returning to normal state, the [=CPUs=] cannot sit back and relax, as the monsters from Zerodimension suddenly start to appear in the Hyperdimension. Neptune, Noire, Blanc and Vert decided to investigate. During the investigation, they are greeted by none other than Uzume. [[spoiler:But unknown to them, Neptune in particular, this "Uzume" in fact is Kurome in disguise. Kurome then traps the four of them in the mysterious Heartdimension and reveals that she plans to fuse the Hyperdimension and Zerodimension together. In a, attempt to rescue the [=CPUs=], Nepgear, IF, Compa, Uni, Rom, Ram and Gold Third chase after Kurome and save the captured [=CPUs=] before they fall into the darkness]].

* EvilKnockoff: During the [[spoiler:Heart Dimension route in Heart Dimension H]], the CPU's are forced to fight against several replicas of themselves. * MaliciousMisnaming: Neptune calls Arfoire "Arsnore" or "Arbore" just to get on her nerves.

* MetaGirl: Exaggerated. Neptune is [[MediumAwareness Medium Aware]] and abuses this at every chance she gets. From complaining to the developers for putting the cast through hardships or [[MediumAwareness obtrusive game mechanics]] to addressing the player, [[BreakingTheFourthWall she tears through the fourth wall like it's made of butter.]] Her antics are pretty much a [[RunningGag trademark]] of the series.

* CombatExclusiveHealing: Finally {{Averted}}. Unlike in previous titles, the player can use healing skills outside battle. This is particularly true when a character is inflicted with StandardStatusEffects; especially Poison, Virus, and Skill Seal. Unlike in previous titles, ailment effects now carry over into the course of dungeon exploration for an unspecified period of time, even if your party won a battle.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: This game proves that, eccentric as they are, the [=CPUs=] are genuinely effective leaders [[spoiler:and without them the world falls apart. After Gold Third's leadership is [[CosmicRetcon retroactively]] applied to the nations, Lowee has a dystopian caste system entrenched in its way of life and Lastation is on the warpath, thanks to both "leaders" refusing to take the mantle. Leanbox is facing an invasion and only held together because S-Sha needs its resources to achieve an end. Only Planeptune is functioning normally, and only because B-Sha is not so different from Neptune and Histoire remained in a position of authority, although B-Sha herself has problem with monsters.]]

* DiscOneFinalBoss: Dark Purple [[spoiler:merged with Arfoire]] in Zerodimension Neptunia Z, and General Affimojas in Hyperdimension Neptunia G.
* DoubleMeaningTitle: The initials "VII" in the title have two meanings. One is that the game is a sequel to ''Victory'' (as in, V II - "V Two"). The second is that, if you count the Producing Perfection, Action Unleashed and Hyperdevotion games, this is the seventh game of the franchise.

* DifficultySpike: Noire's prologue during Hyperdimension G is really rough compared to the other prologues and everything that comes before it. You start the prologue in a level, with no chance to return to the world map until you've completed it. Even when you do, you'll only have Noire and Uni for the duration of the prologue who have very little multi-targeting capabilities and no healing skills, every significant location is farther away than those in the other [=CPUs=]' prologues, and unless you grind you're going to be underleveled every step of the way. There's a ''reason'' that [[DownloadableContent God Eater]] joins Noire with healing skills

* SequelDifficultySpike: Enemies hit hard - even harder than in ''Victory'' and ''mk2''. Characters’ movement during battle is also now limited, making positioning more important. In addition, the combo structure in this game is slightly different: the number of combos is determined by the weapon equipped, making a good selection of weapons far more important. This means spamming the same Combo Skills as the player does in previous games is no longer an option. To compensate for this, the EXE Drive gauge now fills faster, although it resets to zero at the end of every battle, unless you obtained the EXE Driver (it will always remain filled). As a bonus, transforming in HDD Mode is no longer consumes 20% SP, but one EXE Drive Gauge bar. It doesn't help that certain areas also force players to go solo or in pairs, healing items/spells are not as effective as before and HDD mode barely boosts stats.

** Zerodimension Neptunia Z: Sung by [[Creator/MarikoHonda Uzume]]

** Heartdimension Neptunia H: Sung by [[Creator/RieTanaka Neptune]] and [[Creator/MarikoHonda Uzume]]

* MythologyGag: Nepgear is her [[HyperdimensionNeptuniaReBirth1 Re;Birth series]] version, with several times where she repairs technology in the Zero Dimension.

** Averted in [=VIIR=]. [[spoiler:This UpdatedRerelease removes both the Bad and Asecnsion endings. Trying to trigger the bad ending by not watching all 4 of the Goddess' dream events during the Heart Dimension arc will simply make the game force you to watch them anyway.]]

''Megadimension Neptunia VII'' (''Shin Jigen Game Neptune VII'') is the fourth main game of ''VideoGame/{{Neptunia}}'' series for UsefulNotes/PlayStation4 developed by Creator/IdeaFactory and Creator/CompileHeart, released in late April 2015, as well North America and Europe in February 2016, with a PC port of the [=NA=] release debuting in July 2016. Note that "VII" stands for "Victory II", not the Roman Numeral for seven (although, if one counts the remakes of the three main series games before this, it technically ''is'' the [[DoubleMeaningTitle seventh game]]).

* BackgroundMusicOverride: When a character transforms, the battle theme is replaced with [[ThemeMusicPowerUp the transformation theme]] "Will Be Venus". When any of the main 4 goddesses [[SerialEscalation go a step further]] into their [[NextTierPowerUp NEXT Form,]] the ''previous'' theme is then replaced with "'''[[CrowningMusicOfAwesome ABSOLUTE]]'''" to herald the ensuing ass-kicking.

* NoPronunciationGuide: It's not pronounced Neptunia 7, it's pronounced Neptunia Vee-two.

** The Ultradimension from ''Victory/[=Re;Birth3=]'' is essentially absent from this game. While its story comes up at several points, Plutia and Peashy are relegated to DLC characters for the Scout system, [[spoiler:though it's revealed that Adult Neptune is actually the missing Ultradimension Neptune teased at in ''Victory/[-Re;Birth3=]'']].

** The Ultradimension from ''Victory/[=Re;Birth3=]'' is essentially absent from this game. While its story comes up at several points, Plutia and Peashy are relegated to DLC characters for the Scout system.

** The Next Form EXE Drives. While they only cost 2 EXE Drive Gauges to activate, you also have to consume another 2 just to reach Next Form, on two separate turns. The moves themselves deal maybe around twice as much damage as the normal EXE Drives and not only force the user out of HDD entirely, it also hits them with heavy fatigue, delaying their turn greatly. After all that it's still possible that some hits miss and if it happens to be a single hit move... If nothing else, they make cool {{Finishing Move}}s when you just want to play around.

Alongside with Uzume, this installment also introduces an older Neptune, but unlike the Neptune we know, she cannot transform into a Goddess. However, her personality is generally the same albeit calmer.

** [[spoiler: In Hyperdimension Neptunia G, any knowledge of the original [=CPUs=] suddenly vanishes, thanks to Kurome's alteration. Nearly everyone treats them as if they were strangers, even those who should be familiar with them. Several countries also have their history rewritten, like license system being introduced into Lowee, or Lastation being a warmonger nation. Strangely enough, however, Vert's game account wasn't gone and her guild is still up, for some reason.]].

** '''Neptune:''' The people of Planeptune - even IF and Compa - have forgotten about her.. The nation is now ruled by B-Sha, a [[MoneyFetish money-lover]] who likes playing hero. The problem is, she has a huge phobia towards monsters. Neptune tries her best both help B-Sha overcome her fears and restore the peoples' memories of her as the [=CPU=]...

Taking place three years after the True Ending of ''[[VideoGame/HyperdimensionNeptuniaVictory Victory/Re;Birth3]]''[[labelnote:*]]''Victory/[=Re;Birth3=]'' sets "a few years" after ''mk2/[=Re;Birth2=]'', yet the game itself sets in GC 2012[[/labelnote]], Gamindustri has entered a precarious season known as the CPU Shift Period. During this time, bad rumors about the [=CPUs=] have begun to spread the whole Gamindustri. Neptune and the others worry the citizens of their respective landmass will soon call for new leaders to replace them and that their leadership will end.

** '''Blanc:''' She takes up a job as a hunter for Lowee's Guild. While searching for Rom and Ram, she is attacked by a bunch of monsters and nearly killed. Luckily enough, she saved by C-Sha, the leader of Gold Third and current leader of Lowee. Despite the bad introduction, she develops a friendship with C-Sha after she helped her find her sisters. However, their friendship become threatened when they faced by one of Lowee's corrupt officials.

* IChooseToStay: Nepgear decides to stay in Megadimension to help Uzume [[spoiler defeat Arfoire]], instead of taking the chance to return home, which frustrates Uzume.

** Adult Neptune is proficient with both handguns and swords, referencing [[VideoGame/HyperdimensionNeptunia the first game's]] SwordAndGun combat performed by the [=CPUs=]. Even the pistol she uses is the exact same pistol wielded by her Superdimension counterpart for her gun attacks in the first game.

* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler:Gold Third are as shocked they defeated the [=CPUs=] as anyone else. They thought their new Golden Power would give them a chance to put on a good show - they didn't expect to actually ''win''.]]
