** ''[[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys4 FNAF 4]]'': A Fredbear plush can be seen on the desk wearing a purple hat and bowtie. Also, if you input "[[WildMassGuessing 1983]]" into the keypad, you get ''[[WhamShot footage of the Child's bedroom from the fourth game!]]''

** There's also a big CallBack and possibly a ''ludicrously'' important [[TheReveal Reveal]] involving one of the keypads you can find: entering 1983 in the keypad inside the Private Room will make the three TV screens [[WhamShot show images of various locations from]] ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys4''. What this means, exactly, is unclear.

** Funtime Foxy first appeared in ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddysWorld'', though was presented as a completed version of Mangle and not the very different animatronic they are here.

But just so we're clear, Fazbear Ent- err, ''Circus Baby's'' is not responsible for any death or dismemberment that may happen while you're on the job; it says so in the contract you signed. Legal mumbo-jumbo, you know the deal.

''Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location'' is the fifth game in the ''[[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys Five Nights at Freddy's]]'' series by Creator/ScottCawthon, who eventually revealed it to be a new game in what was previously considered a finished series after the [[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddysWorld spin-off RPG game]]. * ElaborateUndergroundBase: Well, restaurant, but for a pizzeria that's (for some reason) deep enough below ground that one needs to use an elevator to access it, Circus Baby's Pizza World looks rather fancy and high-tech.

** The Bad Ending ending plays the same tacky theme from the game's SoapWithinAShow while [[spoiler:Ennard goes to [[ShowingOffTheNewBody look at itself in the mirror]] while wearing your flesh]]. In context, it comes across as an OminousPipeOrgan.

Through combining their ripped-up parts and the murder of multiple people, they've finally escaped the pizzeria through the skin of the protagonist. However, the skin starts to rot and the neighbors start to get suspicious, so they're forced to escape into a sewer grate. Now they're back underground, stuck as a mass of wires and metal.]]

* IJustWantToBeFree: [[spoiler:The ultimate goal of the animatronics is to escape the facility they're trapped in.]]

* LamarckWasRight: [[spoiler:William Afton eventually dies in Springtrap and resurrects. Likewise, his son Michael Afton resurrected after Ennard left his body.]]

** While Purple Guy/[[spoiler:Mr. Afton]] is scum that lured children to their death and designed robots that would lock a child inside them, even ''he'' didn't want [[spoiler:his daughter killed by them and kept warning her away from Baby. It... [[LaserGuidedKarma didn't work]]]].

* DoingInTheWizard: Possibly. The Golden Freddy plush in the Private Room is holding a walkie-talkie, and next to a camera which has a feed of the home from ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys4''.

* MetaTwist: So, you'd think the cause of the animatronics attacking you would be that they were [[HauntedTechnology haunted by murdered children]], as usual[[spoiler:, especially Baby, as she actually did pull a child inside her to die]]. ''Wrong!'' [[spoiler:Baby distinctly refers to the dead little girl as someone separate from herself, and the animatronics in general are simply tired of being treated like they're JustAMachine.]]

* MoralityPet: Out of all the children he knew, [[spoiler:[[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes Mr. Afton never wanted his daughter to be killed]]]]. In fact, [[spoiler: he ordered Michael to find his sister and (as revealed in the sixth game) salvage what remains of her consciousness so she wouldn't be lost. This is what causes the game's events in the first place.]]

* SkewedPriorities:
** Someone in upper management seems to have thought spending a huge portion of Freddy's budget on these bots instead of renovating the ones in the regular location was a good idea.
** Also, upper management keeps the animatronics sentient and only focuses on "scooping" them to make them behave when it'd be better to either start from scratch or take away their sentience.

* StartOfDarkness: [[spoiler:This game seemingly serves as one for the Purple Man, in which he loses his daughter to his own animatronics. Don't feel too sorry yet, though; the fact (at least one version of) Freddy's was already shut down before, and the presence of animatronic blueprints with ''very'' suspicious design features like a child-sized "Storage Tank", imply that he was already (trying to be?) a child killer even beforehand.]]

* TokenGoodTeammate:
** Subverted with [[spoiler:Baby, who keeps you alive only to then kill you as Ennard to take your body]].
** Also subverted with Ballora, who will kill you on other nights. With that said, [[spoiler:Ennard does mention that she hates the plan to take your body because "she is afraid"]].

* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:Michael's monologue at the end heavily implies that William Afton sent his son to destroy the ''murderous'' animatronics stashed underground, resulting in Michael ultimately getting scooped and reanimated.]]
* AIIsACrapshoot: Aside from [[HostileAnimatronics the obvious]], it turns out that Handy the AI "Phone Guy" is completely malfunctional, to the point of giving the player wrong (and deadly) instructions, [[spoiler: mistaking two dead bodies as animatronics,]] [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and having an unstable keypad that can't even recognise your name]]. Then again, [[IncompetenceInc considering who developed him]], is it really surprising to know he doesn't work properly?

* AmbiguousSituation:
** It's not known if the two technicians you [[spoiler:find dead on night five hanged themselves, or if Ennard killed them and made their deaths look like suicides.]]
** For a while, the cutscene shown for clearing the Golden Freddy Very Hard mode caused one: [[spoiler:If Eggs Benedict/Michael Afton is a literal purple guy with a robotic voice, does he go on to become Springtrap as opposed to his father, William, as was previously assumed]]? Ultimately, Scott cleared up the matter [[https://www.reddit.com/r/fivenightsatfreddys/comments/7b27bf/game_theory_fnaf_the_final_theory_five_nights_at/dpf8b3p/?context=3 by confirming]] that [[spoiler:William Afton is indeed still Springtrap]].

* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: [[spoiler:The game's true ending has the protagonist killed by the Scooper, and Ennard wears their skin to escape the building. Come the last of the 'street' cutscenes from the Custom Night, and Ennard leaves the protagonist's rotten husk, which is ''repossessed'' by the original owner]].

* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:In the Bad/Real Ending, the animatronics succeed in killing you via the Scooper and succeed in their plan to use your skin to escape.]]

* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler:In the "Real Ending", you get your insides scooped out of you by Ennard so that they can escape from Circus Baby's Pizzeria. The Custom Night expands on it: [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome the skin starts to rot]], and Ennard is forced to exit it and escape into the sewers. Surprisingly, the protagonist ''gets back up'', and is implied to be possessing their rotting hollowed out corpse. However, the Golden Freddy cutscene makes it very clear that [[SequelHook things aren't quite over yet...]]]]

** [[spoiler:Ennard says that the Scooper will "only hurt for a moment", and that you won't die. As with everything it says, it's only a ploy to get you to come out of the Private Room...until [[WhamEpisode the Custom Night cutscenes]] reveal that ''[[AndIMustScream it wasn't joking.]]'']]

** Sister locations were mentioned as far back as ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys3'', though this one may be a wholly separate one from the one Phone Guy mentioned there. Also, like the first game's advertisement shown at the beginning, this one's ends with "Not responsible for injury or dismemberment."

* BrickJoke: The automated Phone Guy counterpart has a RunningGag of asking you to type the answer to a question (i.e. "What is your name") on a malfunctioning virtual keyboard, and then inputting the answer he believes you were trying to type. On the last night, he asks you which type of gift basket you would like to receive, and misinterprets your answer as "Exotic Butters". If you get the good ending, a basket of said butters can be seen sitting on top of the television.

* AbsenteeActor:
** While new versions of Freddy Fazbear, Foxy, Bonnie, and even Golden Freddy appear, Chica is never seen or even mentioned in the game, making this the first main series game not to include her. [[VideoGame/FreddyFazbearsPizzeriaSimulator A Funtime Chica does exist, but by the time it shows up, she’s totally irrelevant to the plot]].
** Balloon Boy and the Puppet also don't appear in any way.
** Phone Guy doesn't appear in any form in this game, not even as an Easter Egg. His role is instead taken by [=HandUnit=].

** Hey, guess what? [[spoiler:Making it so that the robots themselves abduct and murder children isn't such a great idea, since even [[IncompetenceInc Fazbear Entertainment]] never allowed "faulty equipment" to work in the restaurant. That's probably why they ''removed Circus Baby immediately'' after she killed someone and never let her out again, Afton.]]
