The Ancient Gods is a story-based continuation DLC, so it's not a "Bonus" in any sense.

** Surprisingly, the Unmaykr. Granted, its firepower is rather obscene for such a rapid-firing weapon, but using it means you're trading the BFG's wide-spread [=AoE=] nuking damage for MoreDakka, in which case it becomes a glorified late-game Plasma Rifle with no mods that consumes the same (''rare!'') Argent Cell ammunition as the BFG, that you can no longer get back with the right Rune. It becomes sort of a SituationalSword if you mostly use it on bosses, but there's never an actual moment where using it is necessary, and you can clear the game without it perfectly fine. Good thing is, it's slightly more ammo-efficient than the BFG as it consumes only one Argent cell per shot compared to the BFG's 30, and operates better in more cramped, claustrophobic arenas where a fired BFG ball would be unable to travel far enough to properly clear it out. Also, it is a better option for disposing of super heavy enemies if you can't or don't want to use the Crucible; a Tyrant is able to survive a BFG ball to the face (which costs 30 ammo), but the Unmaykr needs only around 20 ammo to kill it.

Unlike ''2016'', ''Doom Eternal'' has single-player campaign DLC taking place after its main story, the two-part ''The Ancient Gods''. ''Part One'' was released on October 20, 2020, while ''Part Two'' launched on March 18, 2021.

to:

\n* ''Doom Eternal'' builds upon the gameplay loop of its predecessor, emphasizing not only the quick savage combat, but a more tactical approach from the player, with enemies now acting as a source of not only health as in ''2016'' but also ammunition and armor depending how they are killed. Reduced ammo pools encourage the player to vary their weapons, while endlessly spawning lower grade enemies act as living health, ammo or armor drops, encouraging mobility and relentless aggression.
