* JustTrainWrong: Train encounters at level crossings will have a single locomotive and about 9 cars behind it. Real freight trains tend to be much longer in the U.S. In this case, this is likely helpful due to the way time compression works, as waiting for a realistic train to pass would cause one to wait for in-game hours.

Mods exist to make the trains longer.

Added DiffLines:

** You'll often encounter a burger restaurant chain called Ray's Hamburgers. This is a reference to Ray Kroc, the man who pioneered modern fast food.

Added DiffLines:

** With the Idaho expansion released, you may spot a billboard in a familiar font and with a familiar face urging you to Dance for [[Film/NapoleonDynamite Pedro.]]

Added DiffLines:

* DroughtLevelOfDoom: As of version 1.38 with the Idaho DLC, Idaho State Highway 55, from Boise to Grangeville stretches for well over 3 (in-game) hours without a rest area, despite the fact that the scenic town of [=McCall=] is right in the center of it.

* SequelDifficultySpike: Fines are much more punishing, and the replacement of static, well-flagged speed cameras with roaming cops makes it much harder to get away with speeding, especially in cities. American trucks are also more difficult to drive than their European counterparts, due to their long nose, their increased overall length and greater number of gears (while most European trucks have 12 gears, an American truck will usually have 18 or more).
** SequelDifficultyDrop: However, all trucks and trailers have prepaid insurance meaning that an unfortunate t-bone won't set you back more than $200. The lower center of gravity for conventional American trucks along with gentle curving, wide highways make it easier to drive at the speed limit without fear of rolling over (though this is averted if you use mod cab-over trucks such as the Kenworth [=K100=]), states have less variance in road laws which make it easier to traverse state lines versus going between Europe's country lines.

Added DiffLines:

** Whereas ''Euro'' starts out giving you a maximum job length of 150 km, ''American'' starts out with this length at 350 km. This is because the much larger size of the United States translates into much longer driving distances.

** The 1.31 update adds California State Route 120, which passes through Yosemite National Park. In real life, commercial trucking is restricted within national parks, but the developers admitted that the SceneryPorn was too good to pass up.

** The 1.31 update adds California State Route 120, which passes through Yosemite National Park. In real life, commercial trucking is restricted within national parks, but the developers admitted that the SceneryPorn was too good to pass up. Somewhat subverted as you will get fined for driving on it through the park.

** In Oregon, you can find one road sign pointing to WesternAnimation/GravityFalls, along with a sign advertising "The World Famous Mystery Shack" and a water tower with a mushroom cloud graffiti'd on it.

** Originally, the "1199 Field Tractor" that you could haul was a very distinct green with yellow wheels before being changed in a later patch. The Heavy Cargo DLC allows you to haul a "KASA Fourtrack 800" tractor which is the CASE IH Quadtrac 600 in all but name.

** April 2020 adds the Mack Anthem with a teaser video shown several weeks ago featuring the iconic bulldog and a truck being carved from a bar of soap.

* TimedMission: All of the deliveries in the game have a time limit. Freight Market/Quick Job time limits are based on the internal game clock, whilst External Contracts (World of Trucks) are based on real time. For a financial and experience bonus, you can take urgent loads that will leave you with very little time to spare.

Freight Market/Quick Job time limits are based on the internal game clock, whilst External Contracts (World of Trucks) are based on real time. For a financial and experience bonus, you can take urgent loads that will leave you with very little time to spare. If you play with fatigue turned off then urgent, long distance deliveries are a lot more forgiving as they take into account the hours you would need to spend resting.

Added DiffLines:

* ShownTheirWork: The Mack Anthem's bulldog hood ornament. For those not in the know, a gold ornament indicates that the truck's internals are 100% Mack parts, while a silver ornament means that the truck contains some parts from other vendors. You can choose which ornament you want when customizing your truck, but if you look at the pre-configured options available at the showroom, you can notice that the hood ornament choice is 100% accurate to how it works in reality. The trucks with the gold ornament have [=mDRIVE=] gearboxes, while the ones with the silver have Eaton gearboxes.

* EverybodyOwnsAFord: For the first two years of the game's life, the PACCAR brands Peterbilt and Kenworth were the only trucks represented in the game, owing to the rights for other companies being much harder to obtain than first anticipated. A free piece of DLC released on November 5th, 2018 introduced the Volvo VNL series for purchase and there's plans for both the International Lonestar and Freightliner Cascadia in the future once SCS gets the rights to do so from those respective brands.

the International Lonestar and Freightliner Cascadia in which is rather thematic for the future once SCS gets given holiday of the rights to do so from those respective brands.month.
