** Thace or Zarkon being Keith's father was a very popular theory, but season two revealed [[spoiler:that Keith's Galra parent was his mother.]]
** Some fans believed [[CompositeCharacter Keith would also be this continuity's Prince Lotor]] but the last episode of Season 2 introduces Lotor as a separate character.
** A lot of fans, especially those who shipped Shiro/Allura and Keith/Lance, interpreted Allura as significantly older than the other paladins barring Shiro, and a TeamMom figure who viewed and treated them as surrogate "children", although the show does not provide any evidence for [[{{Fanon}} either interpretation]]. However at Wondercon the staff confirmed that Allura is a teenager (or at least her species' equivalent, as they seem to be much longer-lived than humans) closer in age to Keith and the other paladins, and that she actually doesn't work well with children at all.
** Because the show heavily implied that Hunk was some kind of Pacific Islander, many fans believed he was supposed to be a native Hawaiian. As it turns out, he's Samoan. Close, but no cigar, though Hawaii has the largest population of Samoan Americans in the overall United States.
** A wildly popular EpilepticTree was the idea that Lance is really an Altean prince and a long-lost relative of Allura's. In Season 4 Hunk points out that Alteans like Allura and Coran are immune to brain freeze, and poor Lance ''definitely'' isn't. Lauren Montgomery also addresses and explicitly josses this theory in the first episode of ''Form Podcast''.
** Prior to season 3, some fans believed that one of Lotor's half-Galra generals could be this version of Queen Merla, with Acxa being the most likely candidate, given her similar resemblance to the character (aside from having purple hair, when compared to Merla's fuschia hair), until Joaquim dos Santos [[http://www.denofgeek.com/us/tv/voltron/266681/voltron-season-3-13-things-we-didnt-know confirmed]] neither of them were but said it's still possible for her to appear in a future season of the series, which she did in the final season.
** Some fans thought that Creator/ZeldaWilliams voiced General Hira, given her similarity to [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra Kuvira]] in voice, look, and motivation, before Williams confirmed that she did not voice the character and suspected that Jamie Gray Hyder voiced her, though in actuality, Creator/VirginiaMadsen voiced her.
** The theory of Acxa as Keith's mother was debunked in "Bloodlines" as it's revealed that [[spoiler:Krolia is his mother]].
** Some fans assumed that the enemy who knows Voltron's weaknesses in the tweet from the show's official Twitter account just days before the season six trailer would be Haggar, but when the trailer arrived, it was actually [[spoiler:Sendak]].
** The popular fan theory that the archer appearing in part of the promo for Netflix's March 2018 releases being Romelle was jossed when the first full pics of said character from ''Den of Geek'' for season 6 revealed that she's actually Allura's D&D form.
** The fan theory that Krolia would sacrifice herself in the season six finale was outright debunked when [[spoiler:the Castle of Lions was destroyed as a sacrifice]].
** Joshua Hamilton said in an interview that Acxa isn't Keith's sister, debunking said theory.
** The popular theories of Acxa and/or Romelle being a DoubleAgent were outright jossed in season 8.

* UrbanLegendOfZelda: Keith/Lance shippers often claim that the pair were going to be a canonical romance until last-second ExecutiveMeddling or creator spite got in the way. However, taking AnimationLeadTime into account, the creators explicitly confirmed midway through the series' release that the they had no intention to ever pair the two together, that they had no expectation of the pairing becoming as popular as it did, and that it would have been too late to rewrite and reanimate the show to allow for it even if they changed their minds at the last second.

* AllStarCast: With its impressive list of voice talent including ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime''[='=]s Jeremy Shada, ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderman''[='=]s Creator/JoshKeaton, and ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra''[='=]s Creator/StevenYeun, it's shaping up to be this.

* RetroactiveRecognition: Did you know that Alfor's second voice actor Creator/SeanTeale would later play Eclipse in ''Series/TheGifted'', a couple of months after season 3?

** In the Mexican Spanish dub of the original ''Voltron'', Creator/EduardoGarza played Pidge. In this ''Voltron'', he plays Matt [[spoiler:aka the new Pidge's ''brother''.]]

* DirectedByCastMember: The Mexican Spanish dub was directed by Creator/EduardoGarza, who provided the voice for Matthew Holt.

** Sort of DoubleSubverted with Pidge, who initially appears to be a male character voiced by the AFAB and then female-presenting Bex Taylor-Klaus, but is later revealed to be a girl; however Taylor-Klaus has since come out as non-binary, thus playing the trope straight.

** Executives balked at the fact that Shiro was conceived as being gay, and insisted that his ex-boyfriend Adam be referred to as his [[HideYourGays "flight partner" and "best friend"]]. They eventually relented after pushing from Pidge's voice actor Bex Taylor-Klaus, who is an open nonbinary lesbian, but were resistant up until the day that the episode was shown to the public at SDCC, and certain versions of the audio track still use the [[https://www.vld-news.com/post/176895268497/i-posted-this-on-twitter-just-as-an-fyi-to-some-of censored version]].

** Nolan North (born 1970) is fourteen years older than Blake Anderson (born 1984), who voices his son and 24 years older than Bex Taylor-Klaus (born 1994), who voices his daughter.

** It was thought that Bex Taylor-Klaus voiced both Pidge and Olia, before it was confirmed that the latter is actually voiced by Jessica [=McKenna=]. That being said, [=McKenna=] also voiced the Zaiforge commander in the season four finale.

** Due to the vague nature of the staff's stance on the paladins' ages and the fact that the show's ShipToShipCombat was already bitter to begin with, people who ship Keith with Lance rather than Shiro have reacted by calling fans of Sheith (as well as all other Shiro ships aside from Allura [[DoubleStandard even though Allura herself is confirmed to be about Keith's age]] and [[IncompatibleOrientation Shiro would never be interested in female characters since he is gay]]) supporters of pedophilia or actual pedophiles themselves as well. Some have even sent death threats and accusations of promoting pedophilia to Josh Keaton, Chris Palmer, and Bex Taylor-Klaus for making comments or jokes considered too sympathetic towards Sheith. Another nickname is "Space Yue" because of her MysticalWhiteHair, title of princess, and status as the one Lance/"Space Sokka" flirts with. [[spoiler:And by the finale, both characters end up sacrificing themselves to save the world after saying good-bye to their LoveInterest.]]

** [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Erica]] [[WesternAnimation/DaveTheBarbarian Luttrell]] replaced [[Disney/ThePrincessAndTheFrog Anika Noni Rose]] as the voice of Acxa from "Hole in the Sky" onwards. The latter voiced the character in the episodes "Red Paladin" and "The Hunted" before she departed to focus on the Creator/{{BET}} series ''The Quad''. Cherise Boothe did her sole line in "Kral Zera", given that she had a non-speaking role until then, and it was easier to use her than bring in Acxa's regular voice actress for just one line.
