* FlipFlopOfGod: Whether the series is set in the film continuity or not. Originally, it was reported that it was, indeed, connected to the films. Comments by Creator/JamieChung suggested it would be a prequel to the "bad future" of ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast''. Others comments indicated that it would be set in the ''new'' timeline, sometime after ''Series/{{Legion}}'' but before ''Film/{{Logan}}''. However at San Diego Comic-Con it was confirmed that ''The Gifted'' will be occupying a completely separate universe of its own, not tied to the film continuity. In the end, it turns out part of the premise is the disappearance of the X-Men and the Brotherhood, ultimately rendering the whole matter moot (even in Blink’s case, as her only film appearance was in the BadFuture averted by the heroes’ success in “Days of Future Past.”)

* ExiledFromContinuity: While Andrea and Andreas von Strucker can be used since they're prominent X-Men villains, their father, Baron von Strucker is tied up with Captain America, making it unlikely Fox be allowed to reference him.

to:

* ExiledFromContinuity: While There’s some strange copyright-fu going on with the Strucker family. At first it was thought that they had to be unrelated to the comics’ Hydra members, as Hydra is part of the MCU, but it turns out that Andrea and Andreas von Strucker (aka the Fenris twins) can be used since they're also prominent X-Men villains, their and yes, it ''is'' the same Strucker family from the comics. However, the Fenris twins’ father, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker is Strucker, and their older brother, Werner von Strucker, are tied up with Captain America, America and have both appeared in the MCU, making it unlikely Fox be allowed to reference him.them. The organization the Fenris twins worked for is also never given a name beyond ‘the organization.’ (It works both ways, too: you’d think the Hydra remnants in “Agents of SHIELD” would be very interested in super-powered Strucker descendants, but it’s not gonna happen.)

Because an extra resembles Tom Holland doesnt make it a casting gag.

** One actor amongst Andy's bullies has quite a resemblance to Creator/TomHolland, which turns Peter into a comic-accurate Flash Thompson.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Originally, Fox's X-Men show was planned to be a PeriodPiece called ''Hellfire'', which would've focused on a government agent trying to bring down the Hellfire Club during TheSixties, similar to ''Film/XMenFirstClass''. After Fox passed on the show for having too many characters and not enough depth, ''The Gifted'' was ordered instead.
