* AllStarCast: When ''RWBY'' first began, the cast consisted of the staff of Rooster Teeth. For the first two volumes, the only recognizable actor in the show was Jen Taylor, the voice of Cortana from ''Franchise/{{Halo}}'' and Princess Peach from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros''. Starting from Volume 3, however, more recognizable voice actors (mostly from Funimation) joined the cast, playing roles both major and minor. Sorted by volume debut:

** The Volume 9 episode "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble" includes a dedication for Torchwick's voice actor Creator/BillyKametz, who succumbed to cancer ten months before the episode's release.

* OutlivedItsCreator: Creator/MontyOum died several months before Volume 3 premiered, but had left notes on the entire plot outline and ideas for the main characters as adults. In one livestream, the writers commented that the plot overview alone could be made into 20 volumes worth of story, but the length of the show will ultimately depend on how Miles and Kerry structure the content going forward (current guesstimates by the crew suggest they're aiming for about twelve volumes total).

** In spite of his death from colon cancer, Creator/BillyKametz managed to record lines for Roman Torchwick in Volume 9, which aired nearly 10 months after he had passed.

** Yssa Badiola, an animator who worked on WebAnimation/XRayAndVav, is a huge fan of RWBY and now voices Ciel Soleil in Volume 3.

** Bach Do, a Vietnamese fanartist who goes by the moniker "dishwasher1910" on Website/DeviantArt and Website/{{Reddit}}, was taken on as a concept artist for Rooster Teeth's new mecha show ''WebAnimation/GenLock''. This was chiefly due, in Gray Haddock's words, to his drawings of the RWBY cast in mecha-like situations.
** Here's one that goes both ways: ''Franchise/BlazBlue'' director Toshimichi Mori is a fan of RWBY, and has long expressed a desire to make a game based on the show. At the same time, Monty had expressed his love for ''[=BlazBlue=]''. Both works would eventually cross over as part of ''VideoGame/BlazBlueCrossTagBattle''.

** Creator/CristinaValenzuela expressed her desire to join the show via [[https://twitter.com/CristinaVee/status/794989694371172353 tweet]] way back in 2016. She was eventually cast in Volume 7 as Robyn Hill.

** Music/CalebHyles, a musician {{YouTuber|s}} who had done covers of several RWBY songs (including a "Red Like Roses" cover with Casey Lee Williams herself), ended up as guest vocals for "Hero", Ironwood's ImageSong from Volume 7.

** Volume 9 animator Arryn Troche [[https://twitter.com/dontyoudarryn/status/1639647042346663936 stated in a tweet]], shortly after the release of "[[Recap/RWBYV9E6ConfessionsWithinCumulonimbusClouds Confessions Within Cumulonimbus Clouds]]", that they felt Yang is pansexual. They also felt Tai, Yang's father, is also pansexual.

** Volume 3 starts with Ruby talking to her mother's grave, and the shot of the crows flying into the setting sun is deliberately designed to form the shape of Monty's artistic personal signature. Monty Oum died before the start of the volume, so Ruby talking also acts as the crew of Rooster Teeth talking to Monty; the scene of Ruby talking to her mother's grave was the last scene Monty ever worked on. At the end of this volume, after several deaths in the show, a slow song mourning the loss of someone who changed the lives of those around them plays over the credits, which end InMemoriam to Monty. "Let's Just Live" from the Volume 4 soundtrack is also a tribute to Monty while applying to the character deaths as well.

*** The Ace-Ops tell Ren, Jaune and Yang that, when team members die, the team should just move on and replace them with someone else, essentially arguing that personal bonds and the pain of loss are meaningless. Ren explodes at that, furiously telling them that no one is replaceable. While this has the obvious in-universe connotations of what Jaune, Ren and Nora went through after their team-mate Pyrrha died, the line takes on a reality subtext for those fans who know that Ren's voice actor, Neath Oum, only stepped into the role after the death of his brother Monty, the creator of the show and Ren's original voice actor.

** Ruby's journey through the Ever After in Volume 9 while dealing with Imposter Syndrome and eventually learning to just [[BeYourself be herself]] at the end of the Volume. Following the release of Volume 9's last episode, Kerry Shawcross revealed on Twitter that he constantly had issues with Imposter Syndrome as well. While he was working on Volume 9 ever since mid 2020 however, he came to learn to just be himself and became more positive as a result while working on the show.

** Samantha Ireland, Nora's voice actress, said during a convention before Volume 7 that Nora would get interesting content in relation with her backstory. This led to people claiming that she said that Nora would be getting her backstory in the Volume, leading to blowback when this supposed backstory never surfaced.

* IKnewIt:
** Pretty much everyone predicted Episode 15's reveal of Blake as a Faunus, and to a lesser extent Episode 16's clarification of her former membership in White Fang.
** After the release of the promotional material for Volume 2, namely, the group silhouette for Velvet's team, it was pretty much a given that her team would somehow be named "Coffee."
** Penny Polendina being a robot.
** Many people speculated that Ruby and Yang are half-sisters, sharing a father, but fewer speculated that it was Yang's biological mother that she has been searching for in the Yellow trailer, and that Summer Rose, Qrow, the sisters' father, and Yang's mother were on the same team.
** The name of Yang's mother was ludicrously spot on: Raven Branwen.
** After the Volume 3 trailer, many fans suspected that the ElegantGothicLolita shown there was Neo in disguise, which was confirmed in the first episode of Volume 3.
** The majority of the fanbase predicted that Penny vs Pyrrha would happen during the tournament arc of Volume 3, and that it would end with Penny in pieces.
** Many people were able to figure out that Velvet can copy weapons and styles with her camera from the first snapshot of Sun.
** Considering his ''Literature/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz'' character inspiration, nobody was surprised that Ironwood is truly a tin man. He's got a cybernetic arm, and a large part of his body is made of metal.
** People were calling Pyrrha dying since her introduction back in Volume 1.
** Remember the narrator from the first episode? Well, people were able to guess that A. She's a character, and B. She's a villain. Say hello to Salem.
** Quite a few fans predicted that Jaune would take up Pyrrha's equipment in some capacity following her death. He gets an updated set of equipment reforged from her gear at the end of Volume 4's first episode.
** Yang getting a prosthetic limb from Ironwood was quickly predicted after Volume 3.
** More than a few fans predicted Oscar having a connection to Ozpin, and so decided that his name must be the given name of the Wizard of Oz.
** After the ''World of Remnant'' episode "The Four Maidens" streamed in early 2016, several fans immediately predicted that Ozpin was the Wizard from the tale. This was confirmed in the fifth volume.
** Cinder surviving the Battle of Haven was predicted by nearly everyone even before she was spotted in the Volume 6 poster, and chapter 2 opens with her as if to say "We all know she survived, let's get it over with."
** Fans called Maria having silver eyes as early as the moment that the opening of Volume 6 was released to the general public. It was finally confirmed by Volume 6's "Alone in the Woods".
** Virtually everyone predicted that Penny would return during the Atlas volumes due to her robotic nature making her a prime candidate for cheating death. Sure enough, Volume 7's first episode shows her alive and well.
** RWBY's habit of pulling RedHerring plot points, especially regarding who gets Maiden powers, meant few people seriously figured Winter would become the Winter Maiden after how blatantly she was set up to be the next candidate, with Nora and Penny being the most popular alternatives. Sure enough, Penny winds up becoming the next Winter Maiden in the Volume 7 finale "The Enemy of Trust". Then she dies and passes the power on to Winter in the next volume, showing that the setup wasn't for nothing.
** Multiple people theorized about the identity of the Rusted Knight in the Volume 9 trailers, with most answers settling on Jaune Arc. [[Recap/RWBYV9E5TheParfaitPredicament Episode 5]] confirms that to be correct, though fewer fans predicted he'd also be aged up.
** In season 9, during the first few appearance of the Curious Cat, several fans have guessed that they were in fact not nice character as they appeared to be. Noting that their actions seem suspicious such as giving his heart to the Red Prince and the Herbalist and seemingly (un)intentially misleading Team RWBY away from the tree. This was proven to be correct in [[Recap/RWBYV9E8TeaAmidstTerribleTrouble Episode 8]] when the Cat revealed their [[EvilAllAlong true nature]] where they tried to possess Ruby while giving a motive rant and then possess Neo.
** Several fans posted comments on Twitter that Creator/MorganGarrett would be revealed to be Summer Rose 'that week'. When [[Recap/RWBYV9E9ATaleInvolvingATree Episode 9]] came out, it was finally confirmed they'd been right all along.

* OutdatedByCanon:
** Many fanfics depicted Weiss' mother as dead and Blake as a street orphan. Volume 4 revealed that Weiss' mother is alive (albeit a distant AlcoholicParent), while Blake has two loving parents and is actually from an affluent family.
** The first two trailers, ''Red'' and ''White'', focused on showing off the fighting choreography rather than any actual characterization. As a result, Ruby and Weiss were mistaken by fans to be [[TheStoic stoic]] individuals with {{Sugar And Ice Personalit|y}}ies. In canon, Ruby is a cheerful PluckyGirl while Weiss is a AcademicAlphaBitch who [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold loosens up]] as time goes on. The full reason behind Weiss's sad theme song "Mirror Mirror" wasn't given until Volume 4, when we see her home life back in Atlas.
** A mention of Jaune having seven older sisters was made in Volume 2. Sure enough, this took off as FanficFuel with various writers having their own takes on them, like being from separate mothers or some being Faunus. In Volume 6, we get introduced to one of them, Saphron, and get treated to a [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/rwby/images/a/ab/V6_07_00066.png/revision/latest?cb=20181215163346 childhood picture]] with all of them.
** Due to Adam's very limited role and appearances in the first two Volumes, many fanfic writers imagined his character the same way Blake did: a Faunus who genuinely wanted peaceful co-existence who was willing to employ [[WellIntentionedExtremist violent tactics]] to do so and went too far in his methods. The ending episodes of Volume 3 would go on to reveal that he never wanted peace between Faunus and humans to begin with and is misanthropic toward them. The fifth Volume would reveal that his beliefs in Faunus superiority are dogmatic, wishing to subjugate humans as slaves.
