* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Confusion over who owns the rights to the game prevent it from getting a Virtual Console release for the time being. (This is also why there's never been a sequel.) Most sources believe that the rights have reverted back to the Pickford Bros. (and they do own the rights to the ''character'', which is why nobody has bothered to sue them over their "Exploding Man" webcomic continuation) but apparently they aren't eager to test that theory.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Software Creations pitched the game to Nintendo in hopes they would publish it and assist with development. Shigeru Miyamoto himself was impressed with the game and had interesting in working on it. For unknown reasons, they only published the game in Europe but had no role in development, keeping Plok from becoming a first party Nintendo IP.

Having a different publisher is not the same thing as not being released in a region period

* NoExportForYou: The game was published by Creator/{{Nintendo}} in its homeland of Europe, thanks to Creator/ShigeruMiyamoto being a fan. It would have been in America too, but NOA turned it down, so it got published by Tradewest there instead.

"If a rumor is video game related but not gameplay related, see Pop Culture Urban Legends." - Urban Legend Of Zelda

* PopCultureUrbanLegends: The game's soundtrack is ''so'' impressive that a popular (though likely apocryphal) story cites ''Shigeru Miyamoto himself'' disbelieving that it was produced with an unmodified SNES sound chip.

* BigNameFan: Creator/ShigeruMiyamoto of all people was wildly impressed by the game, stating that it had the potential to be a large-scale media franchise on par with Nintendo's own. It is rumored that Miyamoto was most impressed by the music, with a widely-circulated anecdote claiming he could not believe the game's soundtrack was being produced by an unmodified SNES soundchip—though this is most likely false.
