** The creators of the game always wanted to put Jax in, but at the time, his name was Stryker (no relation with the VideoGame/MortalKombat3 character) and the original design had metallic arms.

** Originally, [[VideoGame/MortalKombat3 Kurtis Stryker]] was to take her place in the original ''MK'', before the devs decided to drop Sonya into an all-male cast.

** Robin Shou [[StreetFighterTheLegendOfChunLi would end up taking Chun-Li under his wing]].

** Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa would become the [[{{Tekken}} head of the Mishima clan.]]

* ThrowItIn: Liu Kang was supposed to duplicate the acrobatic flips of Sub Zero's entrance into the fight, but Robin Shou couldn't pull it off successfully. After a few takes, instead of the acrobatics, he just ran down into the arena yelling like a maniac. That's the shot that got used.

* ActorAllusion: Several in fact, as some of the actors would go on to star in videogame-based movies. ** Christopher Lambert ([[{{Highlander}} Connor MacLeod]]) plays Raiden. His replacement in the sequel is James Remar ([[TheWarriors Ajax]]). Ray Park was his stunt double. Yeah, [[ThePhantomMenace Darth Maul]] was in the movie.

** Ex-[[AmericanGladiators American Gladiator]] Lynn Williams is Jax in the sequel.
** In an interesting twist, [[OngBak Tony Jaa]] was Robin Shou's stunt double in the second film. Seriously.

** Michael Jai White was slated to play as Jax in both movies. The first time he declined, he worked on Spawn. He does end up playing Jax in MortalKombatLegacy.
