* PortOverdosed: In Japan, there were numerous versions of the game released for a variety of different consoles and home computers. At least fourteen ''Mappy'' conversions were made throughout the 80's alone, many of them coming from Dempa- a company Namco partnered with to produce computer ports of its arcade games. Of the pre-Namco Museum ports, the [[UsefulNotes/NintendoEntertainmentSystem Famicom]] version is considered one of the more well-known ports, especially overseas.

* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Despite positive feedback and a decent audience, Mappy was canceled by Bandai Namco -- along with ''the rest of [=ShiftyLook=]'' -- when they decided to put all their effort into rebooting ''VideoGame/WonderMomo''. The series creators were forced to post a message stating that their years of hard work were all practically a contest for Namco to decide who they could make the most money off of a reboot of -- they claimed to be happy about it, but it's painfully obvious that the fans and creators alike cursed Namco that day.
