** Kazuma makes a wish/decision that a Goddess would accompany him would be similar to the beginning of Manga/AhMyGoddess, in which Keiichi asked the Goddess Belldandy to be his partner. Of course, just like the above, because of the show's parodic nature, Kazuma's Goddess, Aqua, turns out to be utterly useless, self-centered and whiny as opposed to Belldandy being all helpful and nice.

Not trivia.

* ActorAllusion: In the Drama CD Creator/MaayaUchida voices chuunibyou magician Megumin. Maaya Uchida's most well known role is that of Rikka Takanashi from LightNovel/LoveChunibyoAndOtherDelusions, a character that essentially codified that trope in anime.

* CastingGag:
** OVA depicts Megumin as a mad Mecha-otaku after between the series and her, Creator/RieTakahashi played the role of a similar character in the adaptation of LightNovel/KnightsAndMagic.
** Probably the only thing that was known by Arnie Pantoja before getting the role of the shut-in gamer/otaku loser guy Kazuma was being in Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders as Nukesaku, a minor vampire that got whacked easily by Jotaro, being called "nimrod" or other derogative loser terms by other enemies. In other words, a fellow loser guy. And for further hilarity, Verdia the Dullahan is voiced by Creator/PatrickSeitz AKA DIO. Therefore, DIO now got a taste of how it feels to be humiliated by his absolutely lowest ranking servant.

* NoDubForYou: Played straight for English, but bizarrely averted for Latin America, as it was annouced a Spanish dub is in works. This is especially relevant here, because most anime Spanish dubs are dubbed from an English-translated script used in a previously done English dub, as both Mexico and most of Latin America (excluding Brazil) has a very severe shortage of qualified Japanese-to-Spanish translators, in stark contrast with the United States and Canada.
** Now averted with getting a proper English dub through Bang Zoom in 2019.
** So far, there has been no announcement for an English dub of the second season beyond a "coming soon" message, which is odd considering other Crunchyroll dubs (Latin American Spanish, French, Russian) started airing the second season one week after they aired the first OVA in their website (which did get an English dub alongside the aforementioned languages).

* NoDubForYou: Played straight for English, but bizarrely averted for Latin America, as it was annouced a Spanish dub is in works. ** Probably the only thing that was known by Arnie Pantoja before getting the role of the shut-in gamer/otaku loser guy Kazuma was being in Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders as Nukesaku, a minor vampire that got whacked easily by Jotaro, being called "nimrod" or other derogative loser terms by other enemies, and then offed easily by DIO. In other words, a fellow loser guy.

*** Exclusively in Japan, though, the female main cast are all Servants. We mentioned Megumin/Mash before, but now we also have Aqua/Thrud and Darkness/Murasaki Shikibu. *** At least in the Japanese version, [[Aqua, Megumin and Darkness are Eir, Fjorm and Gunnthra. At least only Kazuma hasn't voiced a Heroes original, but he's also there as Michalis.
