This seems to have less to do with his role here than with what he’s done subsequently

* StarDerailingRole: After Creator/JaredLeto won an Oscar for his work here, his career wound up faltering shortly afterwards. His public perception took a major nosedive when he played The Joker in ''Film/SuicideSquad'', where his performance was widely panned and his harassment of other actors in the name of method acting and similarly unprofessional behavior in complaining about the movie and trying to get ''Film/{{Joker|2019}}'' pulled. His reputation got even worse when he pulled an even more derided performance in the 2022 movie ''Film/{{Morbius|2022}}'', which quickly became an ironic internet meme for its poor critical reviews and box office performance. While he’s had the occasional success since, Leto's current popularity is a far cry from what it was only a few years ago when this movie came out.

* HeyItsThatGuy: Most notably, Woodroof is MatthewMcConaughey, and Rayon is Jared Leto, the lead singer of ThirtySecondsToMars!
** Bradford Cox, lead singer of the indie rock band Deerhunter, plays Rayon's boyfriend.
